Aight so as yall know this week is E3, the biggest week for gaming of the year, all the new games and system information will be revealed during E3. Im looking forward to just about everything,should be a dope week as e3 always delivers.

Damn man, I can't wait to see what Halo 3 looks like! I'm still playing Halo 2 even though though I got a 360. That shit is fun as fuck especially when u take a break from it. Whoever got XBL send me a FR, my Gt is spareeagle. I also get on PFR3 and Ghost recon from time to time. We should have somebody from dubcc there.

Test Drive Unlimited.. that looks so dope.. I saw an early demo of it almost a year ago.. they showed it on a pc cause they had no xbox360 prototype yet.. finally a racing game which has cockpits again.. that was so cool .. you´re sitting in the car and can look around and then click on the window to open it or the car stereo to play music.. and they said they have a special radio stream for the game in which they even broadcast things relevant to the online part of the game.. like who won which race and whatnot.. someone download the demo and test it, then come back and report.. :D

Damn the graphics on these games are just amazing. And Smoke at first I was thinking the same about GOW2 on PS2 but I'm pretty sure they are releasing it on PS2 because so many millions of people own PS2 its ridiculous so theey'd sell a ton more on the PS2. And that game Eihgt Days looks crazy.

May 8, 2006 - Today at SCEA's E3 press conference, Ken Kutaragi came on stage near the end of the conference to deliver the final piece of the PS3 puzzle: the controller. Last E3, Sony showed off a completely different controller from the usual Dual Shock 2 rev, and was reminiscent of a Batarang.
However, it seems that Sony has listened to the criticisms of fans and it's clients and have reverted back to the traditional Dual Shock design for the PS3, which will make gamers happier. In addition, the new Dual Shock 3 will be wireless, with a USB connection in case you want to be wired.
The biggest surprise was when Phil Harrison joined Ken Kutaragi on stage to show off the secret feature of the Dual Shock 3: six degrees of freedom. Using technology similar to what we've seen in past games, players can now move the controller freely in order to manipulate the action on the screen.
This was shown by Dylan Jobe, who is the producer/director of Warhawk, which will make an appearance on the system. In the short two minute demo, Jobe was shown flying his craft by handling the controller in a similar fashion to that of an aircraft stick. Before that, Harrison also showed two demos using this feature, with a helicoptor and the traditional rubber duck.
We'll have more information on the DS3 as soon as we get our hands on it!

I think PS3 needs to address the online gaming portion of the console. XBL is fucking great, and PS2 couldn't fuck with it one bit. And it does sound like PS3 is jocking Wii with the controller idea. $500 & $600 price point is better than what some were projecting, I don't think we'll have a great feel for that until the Wii announces their pricing. PS3 will def be a very dope system, but I wonder how much $$$ they'll be eating at that sales price? Its gotta be more than the 360.

It's times like this when you gotta go with your heart, and I'm always gonna pick those that are trying to be different and look for new directions and chase new ideas. Nintendo for 20 years has thought of new ways to make fun exciting games, Sony for 15 years has ripped those ideas off and looked for ways to 1up and copy the competition. I've never been a follower and I'm not about to start now.

The whole gyroscope thing isnt really that far off from anything Nintendo did. abotu 6 years ago nintendo came out with "Kirby's tilt and Tumble" a GBColor title that was motion sensitive. I'll stick to my Gameboy Color before I go to PS3 hacks.

After Sony Computer Entertainment America held its news conference today -- a long conference which revealed a $499/$599 pricing structure, a vague online plan, and a variety of games -- Microsoft's top executives offered their comments.
IGN spoke over the phone with Shane Kim, Microsoft Game Studios general manager, and Christ Satchell, general manager of Microsoft's game developer group.
"From a gamer's perspective, I'm pretty disappointed in Sony's lack of innovation," said Satchell. "I mean, they didn't deliver anything terribly new, and at the cost of $600, $200 more than our system, it's hard to get excited about it. The 'new' controller was even disappointing. It's basically the same design. It doesn't seem good for consumers, just good for Sony."
When asked if Microsoft would lower the price to the Xbox 360's two systems, as an online rumor suggested, Kim said that Microsoft did not comment on rumors and speculation. But he did explain why Microsoft's package was more appealing. "Our top-priced premium system is $200 cheaper than theirs. And when you look at the whole package, our innovative online service, our price structure, the high quality of games, and the leadership we have provided, it's really hard justifying the price difference. We're in a real sweet spot with our pricing tier. We're really confident about where we are pricing-wise."
When asked whether Microsoft felt Sony could deliver 6 million units by March 2007, Kim offered this opinion. "We can't speculate on Sony's production capabilities. We're not experts on that. But as you know, getting six million units on the market place by March 2007 is a very challenging task. Based on what we know about launching a sophisticated system with many complicated parts, it's going to be very challenging.
"By June 2006, we project we'll meet our goal of having shipped 5 to 5.5 million Xbox 360s. On the subject of new content and announcements, you'll hear about the great new stuff we have at our conference tomorrow."
On the subject of online service, Satchell explained: "They provided no real commitment to actually delivering on their online service. They provided no innovation and leadership in that respect. They gave little time and effort to their online space."
Kim added, "We've sunk many years of investment into Xbox Live, and we have a lot of innovation there."
On the subject of Sony's potential medium superiority with Blue Ray technology, Satchell commented: "I think customers will want the best games and the best services. And the differences between 1080i and 1080p are miniscule; the differences are too hard to determine for most consumers; 1080p is a niche market. The sweet spot is 720p. But you know what? the real question is will your TV be able to run 1080p?"

the xbox360 controller is a fuckin amazing design. not only does it have a great feel to it when you're playing but being able to turn on the console from your bed and turn it off as well is fuckin genius. I also love the lights around the 360 symbol on the controller which identifies what player you are and how many players are connected. simple stuff like that made me fall in love with my 360. with that said i "will" probably get ps3 but wait for the price to fall, i don't see the point in spending another 600 on another console that i believe is inferior to my 360

Whatever happens, above all, it's all about the games.
Fuck the technical details. After a year or two, you won't be able to tell the difference between PS3 and XBox360 versions of a game like Pro Evo or GTA.

Some thoughts:
1. Cheaper version will have no HDMI, meaning you want be able to play HD movies, they'll all be probably scaled down to 480p. What's worse, they didn't even say anything about a possible upgrade, so if you buy a cheaper console, you're stuck with it. If you buy a core 360, you at least can upgrade. Oh yeah, anyone remember how they promised to HDMIs? ;)
2. Double speed Blu-ray drive. It's around 20% slower than the dvd drive installed in 360, so say hello to long ass loading times. Let's hope they can make use of the hard disk drive.
3. Controller - NO VIBRATION? WTF? That's a HUGE step backwards for me. I don't give a fuck about the fucking gyroscope, the guy playing Warhawk at the conference looked like an idiot, it'll haunt him for many years to come :) And yeah, it's nowhere near Nintendo's Wii, cause Wii's controller is a loooot more advanced - it knows exactly where the controller is located, how it's positioned - you get full control. Sony's got a simple motion sensor, just like the one in the GBC Kirby game a few years ago, it's a really poor cousin of Nintendo's idea. Well, actually IT IS Nintendo's idea, just an old one :)
4. Games:
- Gran Turismo HD - what was the point of showing this? So that people could see PS3 can generate HD signal? Guess what Sony, there's nothing revolutionary about it at this point :)
- Genji 2 - hack n slash game in feudal Japan, I think. Looked ok, nothing more. Tragic animation. Slow as hell, seemed to me they played it at 75% normal speed. Unreleasable at this point, unless they speed it up.
- Heavenly Sword - great looking God of War clone, I hate it when you can't move the camera, though.
- Resistance - FPP shooter, nice, but not shocking after you've seen Black. And Black is a PS2 game.
- Warhawk - thought it looked great until I realized there were literally three ships on the screen - the one player controls and two big enemy ships which weren't even moving. And a few clouds & an island in the background. Where are the hundreds ships simultaneously battling in the air like they promised?
The rest were rendered trailers, some of them trying to look like they were "gameplay movies" LOL
There were some glimpses of gameplay, but they were mixed with renders so it's hard to say. FFXIII kicked ass. Too bad I'm not psyched about japan rpgs. EA people bored me to death, Fuck EA ;)
Hard disk with every console is a great idea, but we knew about it for some time now. Free online is great too, but I have a feeling they'll be charging for every piece of downloadable content, including additional levels for games - I think they mentioned it at the conference. MS also does it sometimes, but most of the time DLC is free.
Overall, I'm pretty dissapointed with the conference. People at the conference hall must have been too - Harrison had to constantly ask them for applause cause they were quiet all the time :) Seems to me Sony people don't have a clear vision of the console, they copied this, they copied that, only unique thing is blu-ray which you can't use to watch hd movies if you buy the cheaper sku. And a fucking gyroscope instead of vibration? WTF IS THIS? Do they really think more PS3 users will prefer the fucking gyroscope than the pad vibration? I hope it'll be possible to buy a standard controller. As far as games go, nothing groundbreaking so far.
And yes, I'm buying it. But I buy every console.
A small update: a friend just explained to me that if you buy the cheaper PS3, you won't be able to play neither hd movies NOR games in hd.
Also: no slots for memory cards, SDs or compact flash in the cheaper version. When you buy x360 core, you can upgrade it so that it's no different than premium. You buy core PS3 and you're stuck with it. Ridiculous.

The whole shit about the scaled down version being half the system the full system is and not upgradeable is pathetic. You know that's got to all be designed to cut manufacturing costs since they're losing their ass on a system that may (or may not!) be marginally more powerful than the 360.

I can't see Nintendo doing a 360 (no pun intended), and suddenly start releasing violent gangsta shit, they'll probably stick to Mario & Zelda.
I ain't buying shit until I see what games are released for PS3 and Nintendo, but it's safe to say that Sony are favourites to win the 15+ market.
And you know PS3 will be $100-150 cheaper within a few months in sale or so, so there's no rush.

$600 bucks + $150 for 3 Extra Controllers + $60 Madden + $50 HDMI cable + $30 Blu Ray Movie = $890 Bucks before tax.
I like my entertainment, but there is no fucking way I'll be buying this. I'll stick to the 360 and Wii.
I watched the press conference yesterday and there were no good games that they showed. Most of them were pre-rendered, and the ones that weren't looked on the same level as the 360.

The first-party design has a thick, contoured rubber pad for lap usage, and a sturdy clamp for table usage. The announcement offered little in terms of actual details regarding story and game mechanics. However, it did confirm that Rockstar North, developers of Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, are handling the latest iteration.
The only other piece of information concerns the release date. GTA 4 will ship simultaneously for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 16, 2007. In Europe, the game will ship on October 19, 2007.

Oh, and some new game called Sledgehammer or something looked pretty violent. RedSteel looked cool as shit though, you walk through the game holding your gun in your right hand, (wii controller) and holding the nunchuck in your left hand. With your left hand, you move the thumbcontrol to move your character, and with your right hand, you wave the gun wherever you want. pull the trigger, blow a fucker away. LOL it looked cool as hell! Dude walked up to a door, and just turned his left hand and opened the knob. In another part, there were boxes stacked beside him, he just waved his gun hand at them and they fell out of the way.
He goes in a room, and holds a button down, the room freezes... so he aims his gun at the three people behind the desk, and aims at one's hand... then at another's head, then next to the other guy. Lets go of the button, and shoots at all three of them instantly. The guy he shot in the hand drops the gun, and the guy that got missed kind of cowers... he waves his left hand with the nunchuck at the guy that's cowering, and the dude runs to the left (he essentially motioned for the guy to go) then he made the guy on the right that he had shot the gun out of his hand surrender. Craziest shit ever. After that, he walked outside, and the dude's waiting for him, he puts his gun up and draws a sword and fights the guy hand to hand.

and what do u mean some of the real time ps3 games didnt look good as 360? heavenly sword looks dope as fuck, looks good as almost any 360 games so far(goddamn gears of war looks dope...prob the 2nd best lookin game, behind MGS4)...also the new FF game for ps3 was real time...if anything lot of the games look equal to the 360 ones...

May 8, 2006 - Microsoft has confirmed its previously-mentioned plans to launch an external HD-DVD drive for the Xbox 360. Microsoft first announced plans for an HD-DVD solution at CES this January, but has since remained relatively mute on the subject. The newest update on the add-on is found within the official Xbox.com E3 Coverage page, and arrived in a rather innocuous article titled "HD-DVD Explained."
Quite different than many previous Microsoft statements on the topic of the HD-DVD vs. Blu-ray format war, specifically Mr. Gates' previous statements that Blu-ray was "anti-consumer," the article reads as highly conciliatory. Quoting Albert Penello, Director of Global Marketing at Xbox, the article focuses almost entirely on the price advantage of HD-DVD: "There aren't any Blu-ray players available to test, but if you compare the requirements on paper it's going to be a wash in terms of video quality…the major difference is going to be price, and all the leading indicators point to HD-DVD winning."
Snipes at Sony and Blu-ray are restricted to a little self congratulation on Microsoft's part, in which the company admits that though the HD-DVD format was at one point expected to be dead-on-arrival, excellent foresight on MS' part allowed them to escape the high price of Blu-ray and the technical issues that Sony "publicly blamed" for the PS3's delay.

Digital Culture: The PlayStation 3 Stumbles
Sony's press conference fails to build on the system's momentum.
What a difference a year makes. Last May Sony was riding a pre-E3 conference high and Killzone for PlayStation 3 was the game on everybody's lips. Was it real? What about all those other demos? And how much was something like that going to cost? Fast-forward to this week and Sony seems to have spent all that capital. And frankly, it didn't get much for it.
First there's the price - or rather the prices. The past decade or so has set a precedent - $300 is where you launch a home console. Never mind that this is an antiquated notion that hasn't kept up with the tech that hardware makers are shoving into their boxes. Microsoft was bold to smash through that ceiling and the results have been promising. The higher-priced Xbox 360 premium pack is the system of choice when both are freely available and the extras thrown in make it the most logical choice. Sony's price points for the PlayStation 3 are something else altogether.
At $500 for the base system, the company is pushing into softly charted retail territory. If you sit and think about it, it's not that bad. You are, after all, getting a fully functional Blu-ray player for that price, and at quite a discount compared to the standalone models. It's disappointing that Sony has decided to go Microsoft's route of splitting the hardware base, but at least this time the balance is tilted in the more expensive model's favour and no compromises are being built into the development process. Those that choose to go the cheap route - and when you're already spending $500, does another $100 really matter? - will lose HDMI, WiFi and flash-based consumer memory card support. That seems like a lot of functionality to lose for the short term benefit of saving a few bucks.
It's not like we weren't being prepped for this, though. Ken Kutaragi has been insisting for a while now that the PlayStation 3 is going to be expensive, even going so far as to suggest that people work harder to afford. At $600 for the top bundle, that's not so far from reality. Surprisingly, the price for the system seems to be comparable in all three major territories. I was dead set on Europe being forced to pay a premium, something that many gamers in the region have already figured in. Make no mistake, $600 is a lot for a videogame system. It will be interesting to see if, like with the PSP, Sony pushes the multimedia angle in the system's marketing campaign and to what extent.
It's perhaps strange that Sony would choose such an early time to announce final price and release date details for the PlayStation 3. For one, there's no reason for the company to do it. There's still six months to go and while Nintendo is expected to have the Wii out at around the same time, they're hardly competing against each other. There's also the launch allotments to consider.
Kaz Hirai said that we'd have 2 million PlayStation 3s ready to go on launch day, with another 2 million ready by the end of the year and a further 2 million by the end of Sony's financial year at the end of March. If that's split evenly among the three principal release regions, that equates to about 650,000 per region at launch, which despite the price seems too little. There's a good chance that the price could scare off some early adopters, but for the most part those that want the PlayStation 3 on launch day badly enough will get it, no matter what the price is. Factor in the inevitable production delays that are almost bound to creep in and it's starting to look like getting your pre-order in as soon as possible is the way to go.
The price has further implications. If, as many presume, Nintendo releases the Wii at around $200, that means you can buy an Xbox 360 and a Wii for the same price as the premium PlayStation 3 bundle. Now, there's no denying that Sony's curved beast is going to offer a lot of gameplay, but does it really offer that much that you would buy it instead of an equally high-tech console and the most radical approach to gaming we've ever seen? Nothing Sony has shown so far has me convinced to give them the benefit of the doubt.
If the revelation of the system's price caused a hush in the oversubscribed Culver City soundstage, the motion-sensing capabilities of the controller drew a gasp. It's been eight months since Nintendo began showing off what the Wii could do at its press conference at the Tokyo Game Show and that seems just long enough for Sony to try to incorporate the technology in the controller.
Things become more interesting when you realize that the PlayStation 3 controller is actually a step backwards in one area: rumble. While rumble has been a fixture in Sony controllers ever since the first Dual Shock hit the PlayStation, the company's recent legal problems with Immersion meant that something had to give. Microsoft went the way of settling with Immersion, grabbing a stake in the company in the process, but Sony chose to take the matter to the courts, where it lost spectacularly.
Removing the rumble feature from the Dual Shock probably left some physical space inside, and since there had been rumours for a while that Nintendo would be using motion-sensing tech in the Wii, it could have been a natural move to include it in the PlayStation 3 controller as well. But pretty much everybody you speak to here in L.A. seems convinced that this was Sony going out to incorporate it at the last minute. Many people scoffed when Satoru Iwata said Nintendo was keeping the technology under wraps to stop others from copying it. They're not scoffing now.
Any case by Sony that this was an independent decision instead of a blatant rip-off was hurt by the heavy sense of afterthought that permeated the feature's presence at the briefing. The Warhawk demo looked awkward as the game's lead designer waved and weaved his craft through the air and the technical demo shown looked like something Sony's in-house teams could have thrown together in no time. And apart from Warhawk, there are no other games, shown or announced, that use the motion-sensing feature.
Sony is the staggering juggernaut of the videogame arena but history has shown that there's no reason these lumbering beasts can't be brought down. Overpricing the PlayStation 3 is just the sort of thing that could hold some people back and with Microsoft starting to get its act together in a big way and Nintendo giving gamers something completely new to look at, now's not the time for Sony to be asking too much of its customers.

I'm going to re-iterate what I've been saying for at least 6 months now. When this is all said and done, Microsoft will lead the pack with the 360 this generation, and Sony will slip to second. Nintendo will gain share on Sony, may even if some miracle happens overtake Sony and be the #2 system this time around. The system's just too expensive, and many many systems are still bought by parents. Parents are not going to turn down a 200 dollar system, a 400 dollar system, and then buy the 600 dollar system. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. I'm old enough to be a dad, if my kid wanted one, I would let him pick between 360 and Wii, there's no way I'd spend that money on a PS3.

Microsoft seems to have decided to side with Nintendo in order to overthrow Sony's current lead in the videogame market. Whether the strategy will work or not remains to be seen. Nintendo has stated many times that it does not wish to compete directly with Sony and Microsoft in the next generation war, opting to move into a new direction with Wii that will complement the other systems.

I hope so. Rockstar nnounced "episodic downloadable content" (that's exclusively for 360) so let's hope they include online play also. GTA: LC on PSP had some simple online games, they might do something similar with GTA4. Or something better.

They should do a MMORPG for GTA... that´s what I thought about like since VC came out.. Imagine you play against thousands of others and can steal other people´s cars and build own houses and watch the city grow... you could setup drive bys and go on a rampage in the hood of other players and whatnot.. lol would be dope..

that shit was crazy as hell. i dont know, I'm nto that big of a gaming fanatic to be really looking forward to games and shit. i onyl went for a few hours today due to time constrictions, and i was talking to some business partner about the Wii, and he said he was there early in the morning in a meeting with Nintendo, so they gave him the VIP treatment, and he got to play Wii for half an hour. He said its like the most amazing thing ever, and that Ps3 wont be able to compare with it, and that he wasnt that impressed with PS3. I'm definitely going to be buying both systems though.

I just watched the Nintendo press conference and damn... Just look at Zelda or Red Steel... I even think that FPS games on the Wii could become better than FPS games on a regular pc... and FPS games were always a letdown for me on consoles.. just because of the controls.. there was nothing that beat a keyboard and a mouse.. but the Wii controls could blow the pc controls away... I only hope that Nintendo offers an alternative way of controlling for people that, for whatever reason , aren´t into the new controls... like the oldschool gamepads... so that they don´t lose people to other consoles... but besides that.. this is defiantly a new satndard.. I can´t wait..

Don't think so. There's only a sort of over-the-shoulder view when you use precise aiming.
Cliffy said they opted for the 3rd person cause you can make all those moves that you wouldn't be able to do in 1st person.

Well E3 is over,pretty great E3 overall,just finished watching the final e3 coverage on ign and they asked all the editors at ign who they think "won" E3 and almost everyone said Nintendo ( a few said microsoft,no one said sony). They said Nintendo had a great showing with the Wii, Microsoft has the best lineup of software,and sony overall they werent impressed. I would probably agree with what they said,I would say Nintendo had the best showing because of Wii, i cant wait to play it. Microsoft came in a close 2nd with the excellent lineup of exclusive games they have coming out (Gears of War,Mass Effect,Bioshock,Too Human etc) Sony was pretty dissapointing,there press confrence was the most boring out of the three, and overall just wasnt impressed with it, as of now im prolly gonna be stickin wit the 360 and gettin a Wii when it comes out, prolly get a ps3 later on when the price is more affordable. btw ive been hearin that the Wii will launch in october wit a price of $200, not official tho, gotta wait and see

will the ps3 be coming out with tekken, that game is crazy shit, niggaz be fightin while eatin kfc with that shit,haha and yo the design for the black ps3 with the silver lining on it is sick, i wasnt feeling the design of the ps3 but it def grew on me big time, the shit looks real slick with the silver and shit on the black ps3....but the other colour in white and silver look dope too........only thing that dissapointed me about ps3 is the controller, it should have been a new design for a new "next generation" console.......now for like the next 5 years minimun, they still gonna be stuck on making games for that control.......but i guess i aint trippin to much still, ps3 games are the best imo

See when you download maps for a game does it save it automatically?.....Coz i just left my 360 downloadin maps fo Hal02 while i was at work, came back, nothin was there and went 2 join a game of Halo and it told me i didnt have the maps i needed/.....u think i downloaded wrong maps or it dint save correctly??

im not sure,i know for the xbox 360 games like COD2 and stuff ,the maps save automatically,im not sure how it works for halo2,i would imagine it would work the same way,maybe try downloading them again or sumthin

The controller plugs into the official Wii controller, which then snaps into the back of the 'retro' controller. So you'd kind of have the retro controller with the Wii controller snapped into the back of it... kind of like how the wii controller and the nunchuck snap into the gun casing.

you have to download ALL maps, it takes a while homie. same thing for me but i'm up and running i even have you on my friendlist for Halo
