I dont get it, isn't hatred for all other religions and foriegn cultures enough? Are the people of islam and the middle east so genetically inferior and close minded that they are overcome with blinding rage by their own personal differences? Somebody please explain the beef and clear up the differences between the two sects.

im assumin youre asking about why they are beefin rite now
the points of disagreement, u can wikipedia on ur own damn time. happened years ago , was a political disagreement, led to a religious divide,.
sunnis and shites beef now, because we're too different. a difference has been engrained into us, as humans naturally, we're gonna beef.
shiites are on some next tip, theyve added some funky ass shit to the religion, they ignore certain aspects of the faith. honestly to the sunnis, the shiites range in being outright heretics to fuckin wierdos at best.
plus there are political concerns. in bahrain shiites are the majority but the ruling monarchy is sunni. in iraq the majority shiites were opresed by sunni saddam.
basically anytime there are differences between communities and each community strives to defend their own interests it will lead to confrontation, add to the mix the already fucked up context of middle east politics and u got urself one fucked up situation , ie. see iraq

has there ever been serious efforts in both communities to come to a compromise? There has to be some level of respect for democratic leadership over there they can't enjoy living in constant strife.

well thanks to ur fuckin country we havent been able to live peaceflly for a while now. not to mention that besides already existing tensions ur country has manipulated and interfered for a while.
there are attempts to be peaceful towards one another, but there can never be a religious reconcialiation and that ultimately fucks any attempt to be one

couldn't they live like usa, just respecting diveresity..and opinions/beliefs?

how are they supposed to do that when there is no order and stability in their society? when the economy is shiit and the social structure has been completely realigned, when the govts are under constant manipulation if not outright interference.
cant do nothing without stability and for a variety of reasons there is none

Muslims who divide themselves into sects are making a mistake. When the Qu'ran was being revealed and the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was alive, Muslims were one community of believers. Afterwards Muslims disputed over leadership and some Muslims would follow one scholar while other Muslims would follow another.
The bottom line is Islam is a verb that means "submission to the will of the Creator". Muslims are the ones who submit to their Creator, worship their Creator alone without partners. There have been people and things in nature that have fit this description since the beggining of time. The sun and the moon are both in submission to the will of the Creator, they follow the laws perscribed by the Creator without deviating, therefore they are both Muslims. Imagine how stupid it would sound for the sun to ask the moon, "Hey, are you a Sunni or Shiite Muslims (submitter)".
The Qu'ran clearly states that Muslims are not supposed to be dividing themselves into sects. However, many Muslims follow a particular scholar and use that as an excuse to cause division.
Here's what the Qu'ran says about sects and division:
[6:159] Those who divide themselves into sects do not belong with
you. Their judgment rests with GOD, then He will inform
them of everything they had done.
[30:32] (Do not fall in idol worship,) like those who divide
their religion into sects; each party rejoicing with what
they have.
[42:14] Ironically, they broke up into sects only after the
knowledge had come to them, due to jealousy and
resentment among themselves. If it were not for a
predetermined decision from your Lord to respite them for
a definite interim, they would have been judged
immediately. Indeed, the later generations who inherited
the scripture are full of doubts.
...also, the enemies of Islam use these tactics to divide Muslims, so Muslims have to be conscious and aware of what is being done to them in the media from outside and from within our communities and reconcile differences whenever possible.
Allah says in the Qu'ran in Suratal (Chapter) Hujurat if two believers fall into dispute we are commanded to make peace between them.

I don't believe respecting someone's belief has anything to do with economy. I mean...just like "hey homie, i don't like your belief..but i'll accept diversity."

-Iran
-Syrian alawites
-Iraqi shias
-Hezbollah
-shias in the gulf
Sunnis:
-Saudi arabia

lords knows shit could escalate drastically and the flame could spark anywhere from Iraq , to lebanon to Bahrain (like shias staging a revolution , Saudi arabia and Iran intervening) and then spread like wildfire

there's little chance of conflict between Muslims, Muslims are commanded by Allah to make peace between themselves and many of these regions and groups have positive working relationships.
