My Ghetto Report Card is Gold now.
-
well Obie and Shady fucked up with the marketing. most people don´t even know that Obie got an album out and he don´t have a commercial single in heavy rotation so of course this was gonna flop.
-
Good to hear for Busta but Lyfe at #2....that's what's up!! I'm goin' to pick that shit up today.
-
At least for Obie, the video for Cry Now is starting to pop up.
-
That Rick Ross is actually doing pretty good. I didn't expect him to go past 125,000 the first week and hes amost got 300,000 sold now. I wish Bustas album did that good his first and second week.
-

#7 ROSS*RICK PORT OF MIAMI 78,724 -58 187,269 266,571
#8 TRICE*OBIE SECOND ROUND'S ON ME 73,850 999 297 74,150
Rick Ross ain't exactly flopped...266K in 2 weeks on the first single isn't bad. Chances are he'll at least go Gold with Jay-Z behind him.
Obie...yeah, disappointing, but then again, his first album took something like a year to go Platinum. Still, this has definitely not been a good year for the G-Unit/Shady/Aftermath camp, with Mobb Deep flopping, Busta barely going Gold, and now Obie charting poorly in his first week.
#25 DMX YEAR OF THE DOG AGAIN 28,120 -40 47,147 201,849
And obviously, this wasn't no "year of the dog". After 5 straight #1-charting, Platinum-selling records, X is experiencing his first flop.
#66 E-40 MY GHETTO REPORT CARD 12,787 7 11,900 398,567
Has it really been certified Gold? Guess the label must have shipped 500K even if they ain't sellin.
#84 ICE CUBE LAUGH NOW CRY LATER 10,587 -19 13,125 408,515
The chart position ain't great, but he should still hit Gold by year's end.
#93 JURASSIC 5 FEEDBACK 9,612 -10 10,734 70,651
Now THAT to me is dissappointing...
#95 BLACK EYED PEAS MONKEY BUSINESS 9,220 2 9,067 3,928,816
...while THIS is just disgraceful.
#149 LIL' WAYNE CARTER II 5,503 2 5,421 1,023,161
#152 BONE THUGS-N-HARMONY GREATEST HITS 5,434 -1 5,471 595,414
And I'm surprised these records are still selling, considering how long they've been on the charts.
-
Cube´s chart position is excellent this far into the album. especially since he put it out on his independent label.
-
poor obie.....guess he'll have to go to koch...looks like 2006 is the fall of shady/aftermath/g-unit....good to c e-40 and ice cube pushing to gold.....
-
So there is no Dr.Dre, Alchemist, 9th Wonder, Red Spyda, Hi-Tek, Mr. Porter, Fredwreck, Scott Storch or Timbaland like originally planned/promised for the album..
^^ No wonder Obie flopped.
It's like promising a Ferrari for Lada price, but delivering the Lada instead.
-
Obie is not worth the budget
-

i like it alot. i had been listening to it for about 3 months before i went out and bought it.
-
Mannnn Obie gets the SHAFT again >:(
Obie should just severe his ties with shady...
-
^^ For real, and this was a great album, just as good as Cheers.
I doubt him moving to a different label would help at all. What is rap coming too when you can get shot in the head and still not sell at least 300K your 1st week? smh
-

I would have hoped so.

could Obie's album flop any harder?
this has to be the worst Aftermath release ever
but that's what happens when you drop the vid for the album the DAY is drops
-
^^^Obie isn't anything to do with Aftermath
It seems that rap albums as a whole are all flopping nowadays. Wouldn't be anything to do with them being shit though would it? ::)

I actually said something about this late last year. I really think we're gonna start seeing hip-hop as a whole losing the dominance it had from around 2000-2004. A lot of major-label rap albums flopped terribly in 2005, and the same is happening this year.

it's a Shady/Aftermath release
still under the Aftermath umbrella

So the fuck what if it "flopped"? Yall put to much on it, like you actually in the business.
It was a great album, I could give a shit less if it sold 5 copies.

My quote wasn't directed at u MoSav, it was towards the ones calling it a flop. Rap album are not gonna sell that much anymore, and people need to get used to it. Especially since Obie don't have the "safe" club-banger as a single.

That is pure bullshit.. Goddamn the industry is making me mad these days. GO BUY CASSIE, A GOOD MODERN RNB ALBUM.
-
damn, Donnell Jones is doing bad. Too bad, he been one of my favorite singers since he came out in 96.
