It's not even close, and i've never been a huge Timbaland fan. But damn, he is amazing right now, he is creating classic shit.
He's not only the best in the game, but maybe the most talented producer hiphop has ever seen! He is more creative that every other producer put together, samples far less. He's definitely not my favourite (i'd still put Dre, Primo, Pete Rock and even Kanye ahead) but he might be the best. If you check out the new Nelly Furtado album(aside from the horrible Promiscous) and this new Justin Timberlake album, and give the songs some time, you will see what i mean.
Really, anyone who can make me like a Nelly Furtado album or Justin timberlake album must be a genius ;)
I only wish Timbaland could have made these hiphop tracks, but no rapper would ever really experiment, they all want Dirt off Your SHoulder part 9 or sumthin. Timbaland i guess is far better suited for R&B than hiphop, although his work on Bubba's Deliverance WAS amazing.....

i put timbaland right at the top of my list along with the likes of dre he knows how to produce a damn pleasing sound that not many can do so creatively and his rhythms are next level...peeps like storch and kanye aint coming close...timbo is creates so many old school vibes but can do a silly amount of sounds

I'm not talking about favourites here, cuz Timbaland isn't even in my top 5 favourite producers, I'm talking about creativity and musical talent here, and if you really think Rick Rock, E A Ski, J Wells, Heatmakers, Soopafly are more more talented or are dropping as many nice joints as Timbaland is right now, than you're crazy dude.
And i like Mannie Fresh, but again, compare the musical quality of his music and its not even fucking close........
And i hate to say it, but Dre is NOWHERE near Timbaland at this point in time. His production was DOPE on Game's last cd, the Outta COntrol rmx was tight, but his beats on Busta's new album were merely slightly above average. However, Dre is still my favourite and i truly hope he puts more into his production and puts out more music in the near future.
Timbaland and Dre both have signature sounds, but Dre's is getting played out whereas Timbaland is only getting better. Of course, i wouldn't be shocked if Dre reinvents his sound and changes the game IF Detox drops

Nah Quik had some sloppy shit lately, the beats on Trauma were very similliar to Under The Influence production.
Timbo on the other hand is creating a new sound every single month (at least it looks like it :D)

while i havent heard much quik, the songs that i have heard all sound the same. and if every song ive heard, with exception of justify my thug wich wasnt that hot, sounds the same he mus t not be that good of a producer. while 40 on the other hand is complete and utter garbage. i have listened to a bunch of his cds and was not impressed atall. 40 needs to retire. quik needs to sound different

I disgagree, "Fandango" "Ladies And Thugs" "California" all had excellent production, Trauma was wayyyy better than people gvie it credit.

Yo man, QUik is DOPE, definitely one of the best ever. But he is nowhere as good as he was back in the day. The thread is talking about the best right now, and for that Quik isn't even really part of the discussion. I hope he comes back with some hot shit though

Quik is definitley a better all around producer than Tim in terms of making music that hits your ears well, but Tim can make a flat out hit record.
I thought Tim's beat on Busta's album was tragic.

Judging by what you consider to be "good rap"? Man, NOONE on the east coast liked Justify My thug, especially that weak ass Madonna-esque hook! Quik is capable of MUCH more, i thought that was his chance to blow up, let the rest of the world know what we been knowing all along, that Quik is DOPE. Instead, he gives him that horrible beat, and noone (except Chingy) wants QUik to produce for them now.........

right now Timboīs a beast, but his overall catalog will never even come close to Dreīs and thatīs the truth. but Timboīs produced songs for too many wack artists and that kinda takes away from his super beats. and someone slap the shit outta him and every other producer out there that just have to get on the hooks or talk on the songs and dumb shit like that.

Uh, I say the track sucks and I'm not even really feeling Cube or DPG(especially Cali is Active) like that these days, so what the fuck are you talking about.

As far as creativity, I'd put Rick Rock up there with Timbo. Rick Rocks beats are usually cleaner, whereas Tim uses dirtier drums, & more samples. They can both make club bangers, and they can both make slower songs.
Tim needs to drop a compilation with all the leftover Nelly & JT beats.

Timbaland is by far the best at the moment. The only people who dont agree are the ones who dont go out to clubs or parties & just sit at home downloading old rap, which i do to, but i also go out & party & theres a reason why Nelly Frutardo & Justin Timberlake are hitting hard in the clubs now, coz of Timbo's production. I liked Timbo's stuff b4 but wasnt a huge fan, hell i probably wouldve agreed with Quik or whoever being better, but hell he really created a new sound, its 5 years ahead of its time to me & eveyrone i know, even people who hate alot of the new music (or biting music) out there love it.
Hell I wouldn't be suprized if you see Dre & Timbo working together on some of Detox, I'm sure Dre is liking what Timbo is up to, not that he never did b4 (didnt they hook up in 2001 to get at JD's comments?)
