This country sems to ge crazier and crazier with each passing day. This latest onslaught comes from talk show host Pat Buchannon who finds a way to blame Hip Hop fo th reasons Latins have not quite assimilated....This is a good example of lunacy gone wild... Buchanan: Hispanic Immigrants Not Assimilating Into America Because They Embrace Rap Culture.
The media is lavishing attention on Pat Buchanan and his new book that argues that whites are the only race with the genetic endowments to prevent America from collapsing.
Yesterday on Hannity and Colmes, Pat Buchanan asserted that Hispanic immigrants were not assimilated into America because they were adopting rap culture. Watch it:
Rap music, according to the U.S. State Department, is an original American art form. It has its roots, however, in African-American culture, not white culture. For Buchanan, apparently, that means its un-American.

Indeed, that's true. But conservatives never ask themselves - why is it that this is the case? If white kids dig the gangster image as much as black/Latino kids, what does that say about them?
Even more important, conservatives never bother to mention the fact that WHITE gangster movies (i.e. "Angels With Dirty Faces", "The Godfather", "Goodfellas") have been huge influences upon hip-hop and are commonly referenced in rap songs.

I listen to rap music because I like the way it sounds. I like the beats and the lyrics. That doesn't mean I approve of the violence, the sex, the misogny, etc.
Fortunately I am an adult and I know the difference between right and wrong. So the music is just entertainment to me. But alot of kids are not so lucky. They are young and impressionable and might come from bad homes where they don't have alot of values and morals instilled in them. That is where hip hop becomes dangerous....because they might be raised by rap videos instead of a mom and dad. So they grow up thinking sex and violence are cool and that it is Ok to degrade women because that is what they see everyday on BET.

I don't know what your favorite rappers are (since you almost never post about music), but I've seen you talk about cats like Game and Xzibit before, which suggests to me that those are the kinds of rappers you listen to. If you don't approve of violence and misogyny, you need to stop listening to Game and listen to something that isn't "undermining American values". There is a such thing as Christian rap, ya know? Not to mention plenty of other non-gangsta rappers. You are still a hypocrite if you're listening to gangsta rap when it contradicts your values and you could be listening to something else.

I'm not Irish or Italian. These aren't my "peoples". I'm just stating the too often ignored facts. The white oppressor wants blacks to believe these myths because it keeps them down, and they want the poor whites to think they were all part of the problem so they feel guilty. In the end it only hurts the black people of America.
