Goddamn, we're back with another monster interview! We sat down with WC for over an hour to chop it up. Dub touched on a lot of different topics in this controversial interview, you don't want to miss this one. Check it out by clicking below:

Exclusive Interview With WC (August 06) (http://www.dubcnn.com/interviews/wc06)

We start off with how he views and feels about the "New West Coast" movement going on as one of the O.G.'s in the game. We then proceed to take him back down memory lane and talk about the Low Profile days with him and DJ Aladdin, his brother DJ Crazy Toones, hooking up with Coolio and forming the Maad Circle, their deal with Priority Records and why it was a messed up deal.

We go into detail about his solo albums and the recording process surrounding them. Of course, the Westside Connection album and the controversy surrounding "Bow Down". We speak about his relationship with Mack 10 and whether there is a future for Westside Connection.

WC tells us why he thinks he never had the commercial success of an Ice Cube, and if he believes rap music has a negative influence on the youth. Dub kicks a lot of knowledge about the music industry and talks to the youngsters, so all you aspiring rappers, make sure to read between the lines. Find out what happened with 2002's "Ghetto Heisman" and why Def Jam messed up on that project.

After talked about the mixtape game and why "The CT Experience" is the best mixtape out right now, we finally get to his upcoming solo album "Guilty By Affiliation", which should be dropping around spring. He tells us what approach he's taking on this one and why the independent route was the way to go for him.

That was a quick rundown on this in-depth interview, to read it all, check above or click here.

lol, 4 real. He sounded pissed as hell. Bigg up to the entire crew for the interview. Real nice. Hearing Dub over a Dre beat, would be nice, but I have a feeling it won't happen. Will see though. Gulity By Affiliation will be crazy. Kinda mad that "What" & "Stick Em" won't be on the album, cuzz both were nice tracks. Def Jam fucked up with Ghetto Heisman. It was one of them records that I wasn't sure if I should of copped or not. I ended up buying it, and that record was on that record of the year type shit. Full of bangers. Damn, I hope Dub hooks up with MC Ren on this album agian. He gotta have Butch Cassidy on a few hooks (1 ain't enuff from Butch). Jayo Felony, Knoc-Turn'Al, Crooked I would also make some nice guests. Bigg up agian Dubcnn!

WC isn't the only person who finds the New West Coast term to be disrespectful. I remember when I did my interview with Murs for HHC he claimed that people referring to themselves as part of the New West Coast were disrespecting the years of work he had spent "bustin' my ass", as he put it.

Obviously, a lot of us fans don't consider it anything personal and feel that these newcomers are simply stating a fact in that they ARE new in comparison to the likes of Dub, Snoop, Cube, and so on, but on the flip side that's at least two prominent West Coast artists who have been making music for some time and are offended by that title. Chances are that there are others who are simply biting their tongue on the subject.

Personally, my opinion was that of Nima in that the New West title is far from disrespectful, and is merely stating a fact that there are new artists hoping to put the West Coast back on the map. On the flipside, I can see where Murs and Dub are coming from also.

I'm glad that WC broke that down with the whole East/West thing with Pac. Alot of people wanted to group the 2, including Pac. I remember he said in a interview (Thug Immortal or something like that) that Bow Down is trying to be like Hitemup and Cube is doing it because he is old and irrelevant. WSCG was talking about the critics and the bias that the east seemed to have for the west. Pac also mentioned something about this but WSCG really got the dialogue going about it. Bomb ass interview Nima.

I agree with what Dub is trying to get off his chest, it's all west.

There's a whole bunch of new artists coming through, and it's promising for the westcoast, but all this "new" this, it's unnecessary.

This is why I LOVE DubCNN:

Quote
Dubcnn: Alright! Back in the days, you had a producer and a rapper, who would record an entire album together. Do you think that's something that's missing in the game right now? Cause albums sound all over the place a lot of times, cause you have so many different producers...

Dub C: Yeah it's missing but that's not a bad thing that it's missing. It's a different day and time! I ain't stuck on that shit, if the shit is working it's working. Back in the days that's how it was because a nigga didn't have no budget to go out and get a lot of different producers and shit like that. Also back in the days, niggas wanted to display their sound and their side of town. Now when you fuckin' with these major labels and shit, whatever is hot at the time is the sound that they want! It's fucked up! We didn't make the rules, though. I admire niggas that go against the grain, that's why I advise every nigga out there to get on that independent route. All you niggas that ain't signed, you're in the best position in the game. Quit crying about a fuckin' deal. Put your shit out independently, and get out here and get cracking.

You think I'm lying? Ask Cash Money. Think I'm lying? Ask Rocafella. Think I'm lying? Ask Murder Inc. Think I'm lying? Ask Nelly and them. Nigga go independent. Get your shit cracking. Ask Dre. Quit waiting for a muthafucka to hand you some shit! Because when you're independent, you can go out and do what the fuck you wanna do! When you get on a major label, you're going to be caught in that bullshit. Same shit I got caught up with when I was over there fuckin' with Def Jam.

Yo, Dub, if you hearing this, I'm gone take your advice. Fuck this record label shit! I'm doing my own thang. But I'm still getting my big guest appearences. That's a givin'.

I'm very flattered that he knows more about the record industry than any of those so-called one-hit wonders right now. It's a good thing I never pushed my vocals. Just the lyrics.

I got to write another ghost verse, now.

Nima, I'm telling you. This shit's gotta be in YHMM.

Lil' Jay, same goes for you.

Dub is one of the very few cats from the west I'm always checking for, and his spots on CT Experience were fuckin jaw dropping - dude gets better with age when most of these other cats from the west fell off the face of the fuckin earth with their wack ass half assed lyrics / flows.  Good interview.  I'm anticipating his album.

For those saying that Dub sounded bitter.. Go check out Scipio's song "Bangin on Em" (or something like that). He starts the song off by saying "You old niggas is done with, let the New West in". Now tell me that's not being disrespectful, you can't be saying that shit man. As a new artist you gotta give props to the OGs who paved their way to even exist in the rap game. If you wanna do it on your own, cool. But don't try to go against them and start disconnecting yourself. Cause that song is what it all started for Dub to be saying that.

And tight interview Nima, props!

Man, you just keep servin us that chronic, don't you Nima? Shit, thank you's and props-a-plenty once again, that was some dope shit. This is why Dub is one of my all time favourites, straight up, he always keeps it true to himself and just lays the shit down. And the dude's always entertaining to listen to too, even like this when it's not on a record. Just the way he chops up game.

Gotta say I'm anxious for the record. They had a good recipe & method with Cube's record, and Dub never comes off wrong anyway, so you know the shit's gonna be right. Hopefully he gets some funky ass beats on there - that's all I'm actually thinking about, what the beats are gonna be like. Lyrics from WC are dope by default.

Alotta these "Mixtape. sooper rappin" Niggas need to actually put a record out before they talk shit. Dubb is right, alotta these niggas need the shit smacked out of em Say what you want, but untill you sell a record, tour the world, and all the other shit that comes with the game you should remain as humble as possible

Props Nima for the interview with Dub

Dub is one the realest niggaz out there, and probably is the only artist besides Quik who I can say I'm a fan off....I've had a few chances to chop it up with Dub, with the last time being in South Lake Tahoe bacc in July when Cube was performing up there, and Dub keeps it str8 gangsta...Def Jam may have fucc'd up, but "Ghetto Heisman" was str8 bullshyt and thats real talk...Dub came all wrong on that album and I don't know if it was Def Jam or him behind it, but it was some garbage that I didn't expect from him....It's cool he got off Def Jam, cuz that wasn't a good look for him...Dub has improved on the mic over the years and he came with it on the CT experiance mixtape, I haven't heard that dude come that raw since the first Westside Connection album....I think he can hold his own against Cube...I doubt Dub gets a tracc from Dre, it won't hurt to have one, but it's not needed...He'll be wainting another 4 years if he had to wait on that one tracc from Dre, ask Cube....I'm looking forward to the album dropping and I'm hoping he goes out on tour to promote it right....Maybe do a couple of HOB venues or club spots...

Nima, Did Dub say anything about touring to promote the new album?

BTW..Fucc Def Jam

You know, I do agree with you absolutely. . .but at the same time, this is hip-hop. It's all about being boastful, youthful and disrespectful to authority. Everyone in hip hop thinks they're the best that did it, you kinda have to. Don't get me wrong, I love and respect the hell outta Dub C, but I think he's taking shit too personal. He kinda sounds like a bitter old man, lol. No one's taking away from his contributions to the West Coast, but at the same time maybe it is time for some of the older dudes to fall back and let the new guys in. As long as the new cats are bringing heat that is. Remember when Pac was callin' out De La for being old and flabby? Even Game on One Blood was like "you 38 and you still rappin?" That's hip-hop. If older rappers don't like it, they either gotta come harder or step to the side.

DubCNN doing big thangs!

Props for another interview with a wescoast O.G.

Im glad ya sked the Cypress Hill beef question. Even though Cube needed no help from dub and still buried Cypress, if Dub was down with West Side connection then he should of been down for his homie.

Aside from Cube, Dub's the only artist on Lench Mob Records so his album is gonna get all the muthafuckin attention and shit.
Ill think Dub will make up for the last solo and WSC record.

I'm a fan of WC, and I'll pick up the new one, but...

1. LOL at a conspiracy being behind Ghetto Heisman flopping.  Yes, DJ screwed it up and I'm sure WC wasn't a priority for them, but conspiracy? C'mon.
2. Ghetto Heisman was a pretty average record to me, had a few good tunes, a few bad ones, and the rest were ok.
3. 2Pac's opinion about Cube being washed up really bugs me.  On 2Pac's early records he was on Cube's dick, HARD.  Even sampling the hell out of Cube.  I don't see how you can go from having an artist being a huge influence on you to just plain disrespecting them.
4. Oh, and WC did come correct on that CT mixtape.

new kitkats need to build their resume...till then they gotta stop yapping gibberish.  THey don't got credibility.  If these wack new west rappers can at least out beat CHRONIC, or some ice cube tracks like ghetto bird, or bow down ....then let it be known.

Ever since 50 blew up, everyone wants to come up by dissing.

"These OG's is played out like Atari
I just call it how I see it, I'm sorry

You know them young boys packin' them nines
And them OG's wish they was back in they prime
Yea they heard about yo ass doin' that time
They don't give a fuck, they ain't tryin' ta let ya grind
They don't respect you, they ain't tryin' ta let you shine
In yo head you thinkin' like 'This used to be mine'
"

Although this was written by a dude from Brooklyn (Uncle Murda) and is about street shit, as opposed to the Rap game, it's still relevent to what the New West/Old West. The bold is pretty accurate to the situation. 99% of these old ass Rappers are played the fuck out dudes who wish they were still in the late 80s, early 90s when they were hot. And since they're the OG's and have more pull in this industry, they're not trying to see new cats shine, cuz they're not ready to let go of their "Crown."

I don't think Scipio is wrong for saying what he said. If these old cats aren't respecting him, why should he respect them?

Exactly, it is earned. So just beacause you're an O.G. in the game doesn't mean people are gonna have to respect you, if you don't respect them. These New West cats have been starving for a chance. But when was the last time you seen Dub C put out an artist? Ice Cube? DJ Quik? MC Eiht? etc. These older dudes ain't respecting the new cats, so why give respect back? People swear you HAVE to respect these dudes. Yes, they put the West on the map. Yes, they're the reason we yell West Coast, but if they ain't helpin' out the new blood, the people who are going to CARRY the flag from now on, then why respect them?
