Title: Is it safe to say that Nas
Post by: Meho on November 19, 2006, 03:43:23 PM
is getting fucked ?

a) No single and no video 1 month before the release date

b) Four tracks leaked of the 14 track LP, including the most hyped track with Jay-Z, which unlike the other 3 wasn't leaked by Nas camp.

I hate whats happening to him, hes in the postion to drop a classic album but will probably keep getting pushed back.

these things happen

Nas isn't really the most marketable guy anyways...

Well, I have heard 2 tracks from the album both 5/5, then theres the song with Jay which I havent listened but is getting great reviews everywhere. Dont be worried about that Storch track with Snoop, its suppose to be one of the best joints with both of them spitting 32 bars. The only track Im worried about is the one with Kelis.

Under defjam, nas will never drop an illmatic or a stillmatic. Nowhere near marketable enough. But i agree with you, Nas is getting fucked over big time and it aint right.

I just hope he doesnt resort to type, and start dissing the dips a fornight before his album drops.

there will be great tracks i think.. but its not gonna be a classic when it got Storch, Kanye and Dre on it.. well kanye sometimes makes dope beats, we can hope.. Dre lost it, Imagine is the only new dope beat he made.. "its suppose to be one of the best joints" yeah for clubs i guess, storch cant make dope beats..

all of this is ofcourse just what i think.. but we all know that my opinion on music is the right opinion.

I was just thinking about this lastnight. I was listening to Stillmatic, and was thinking that his album drops next month and has no promotion and no single/video.

Def Jam really doesn't know how to market hip-hop anymore.

^ They sure know how to market this one Camel lookin' fella.

Ain't that the fuckin truth.  I think he re-allocated Nas' budget to his budweiser promotion campaign.  I'm sure that there's a chance that Nas does get pushed back.

Yeah...There's a big chance he's getting pushed back. Cus Jeezy is also droppin' in December and he already has a single/promotion.

I still think Jay is gonna fuck Nas in the end as a means for revenge. Dude is cold on the behind-the-scenes tip.

I don't feel sorry for him. He brought that on himself, signing with Jay-Z and shit.

This is my most anticipated album out of all recent releases. Only tracks I've heard are HHID and the jay collabo (that was just too tempting), i really want to give this album a blind listen, i really think will be the best release out this year.

Originally i wasn't expecting alot looking at the production lineup, but from what i've heard the producers gave Nas their best shit for once. And like Detox said, the Storch joint with Snoop is suppoedly the best song along with the one with Game, and these were two of the tracks i didn't originally want on the album

Nas album will hopefully be like IWW part 2, he already tried to make Illmatic Part 2 so it's likely he will go for some sales on this album with the big budget producers, as his formula wasn't exaclty workign for the last couple album( decent but Nas can do WAY better, they just were too plain)

Nas lost again as soon as he hooked back up w/ that Camel, its not surprising this is happening.

Jay Z says he runs New York, hip hop, cigarette cartels, whatever, when he can't even run his own ship.

QUOTE for yall who couldn't figure this out ahead of time (Meho)

How many months has he shelved Nas's album since he signed him?

Not a whole lot...the only thing we were told was that Nas was coming out Fall '06, and so far, Hov has stayed true to that.  The December '06 release date still stands, as best I know, and it's far enough apart from Jay's album that it won't need to be pushed back anymore.

Yep.

And yes his promotion is crazy at the moment. Theres news about him every day on the internet too.

LOL if you think he will drop Nas only about 1 mere MONTH after his album.  That is ludicrous.

Black album dropped in Nov 03, his last single for that shit dropped in april 04.  He isnt going to even drop Nas' single until his own last single is played out to the max.

Budden is an amazing storyteller no doubt, and if he every is able to put out material like that for a decent amount of times ( 4/5 albums at least ) could he be up there with Nas.

Joey's storytelling skills especially 3 Sides to a Story and Walk with Me are so sick, it makes u wish there more like him.

Let's see Buddens put out a decent album before we compare him to Nas.

If we're still talking about Buddens in 2020 then I'll listen to this arguement.  At this point he's nowhere close to Nas' league and not even close to warrenting any sort of comparison.

One more thing, I heard that Nas shot the video for HHID this past weekend and that it will premier on "Access Granted" on the 29th.  That's good news.

Nice! Now let's just hope he comes out when he's suppose to, and if not that he doesn't get pushed back to far.

Nas - I was supposed to drop my record in September or I lead with a single to give this record company enough time to get behind my record. So I can’t blame anybody for my record coming out the end of the year but me. It’s just how I move. There’s no, “Oh, put it out now.” It was like, “Yo what’s up with September?” I’m like, “Nah, it ain’t ready.” Then I wanted Halloween with a Thriller kind of video for “Hip Hop is Dead”, then I didn’t want to do “Hip Hop is Dead” so I missed Halloween. Then I decided November 7th, I didn’t want to do that either. I kept wanting to change the theme of my album because of the title. So I knew when Jay was coming, our plan was to come at least a month apart. So this is why my joint is coming December 19th
