Title: Kurupt thoughts
Post by: Tanjential on January 25, 2007, 05:08:24 PM
Just heard 'keep it movin'" and what this as well as 1n 1 out tell me is that Kurupt is PERFECTLY capable of doing this whenever he sits down and write some shit. I've suspected for a long time that Kurupt freestyles most of his shit which would explain why he's so hit and miss.

also, have Kurupt and Soopafly worked together since the peace conference? cause i just heard talkin bout riccy and it's easily the hardest Kurupt diss I've ever heard. i can't believe some of the shit soopa said in that shit. is it confirmed that Kurupt's done tweak? that would disappoint me but eh.

They will be on some tracks together on The Big Squeeze and Soopafly did some tracks for Cali Iz Active and the Dogg Chit album. They cool now.

True but I like the way Kurupt and Daz handled they beef. They left that shit in the past and started fresh. I wish Snoop could do that. You never hear Kurupt in interviews talking about the beef. He to me is the definition of a homeboy. Always repping DPGC and does not say anything bad about the crew. Even when they was beefing he stayed away from it until he could not take it anymore.

his eat a dicc daz diss wasn't that hard of a diss. it was just like when you're friends being an asshole and you're like "eat a dick jeff..." or whoever, you ain't serious, you're just saying shut up and stop being a dick.

and i didn't change, he said 'i love yall' and shit like that, he stayed a real friend the whole time....how does Kurupt do that but not snoop? like with the crooked I situation awhile back or what?

and yeah, i've always thought of Kurupt as a good dude which is kinda why i don't wanna admit that he did tweak and shit.

I mean it is not like the rest of the crew is taking ginseng and taking they vitamins every day and Kurupt is the only junkie.

Snoop acts like that because he got all the money and he likes the show run through him. That is why I can respect Daz's hustle all these years and Snoop is just now getting into the indie game.

fuck snoop.  I see snoop trying to get down with "real" shit like daz doing indie hustling when snoop always been a busta being the "boss.

snoop opened a huge door to say the least but yeah I see what you're saying. i'm pretty damn sure daz is happy snoop's fucking with him again though.

Daz is happy and he is self sufficent. He don't need Snoop to put music out.

And that is why I want them to make DPG albums on Daz's label. He has that trademark DP sound other than Dre, and we know Dre ain't working with DPG so I think just off of Daz doing this whole album Dogg Chit, it will be better than Cali Iz Active. And Kurupt always sounds better on Daz, Soopafly and Fred Wreck production.

His I Got My Mind Made Up verse on AEOM was  :o

Well I comes through with two packs
of the bomb prophalaks for protection
So my fuckin sac won't collapse
Cause nowaday's, shit's evading the x-rays
Sending young motherfuckers to an early grave
I wonder, if my terrifying tactics of torturing MC's
shows my heart's as cold as the tundra
Electryfing like thunder, I'm just too much
Rough and raw with that motherfuckin poisonous touch
I'm an MC with lyrics that's tha fuckin bom-bay
Ya got dissed, that's before it's ingest like balmay
My rhymes, I leave a mark on ya mind
As the deadly vibes spread through ya head like sand pine
There's no escape, nah I ain't blastin
I use my mental to assassinate assassin's for those askin
Opposed to laughin, raw maniacal villian
Laughter enhances the chances of tha killin
Why is that? Cuz smilin faces decieve
You best believe, to MC's I'm the deadliest disease
My thoughts rip ya throat and make it hard to breathe
Ya whole camp's under seige, and I'm Jason Vorhees
In the heat of the night is when I defeat and ignite mikes
My verbal snipe, your vocab on site
I'm out tha cut, uncut and raw with no clause for all
So all my rhymes hit and split tha bricks on the wall
Ya already have an idea about tha superior sphere
The greater rhyme creator on both sides of tha equator
I rock from here to there, to Philly and back
To LA on the spot where I rock and bust like straps
As your views get overshadowed when you come in contact
Beware, set and prepare to enter verbal combat

I always wanted to hear Kurupt spit on a track with eastcoast mcs on it to see how he would do and IMO he had the best verse not only on that song but the whole AEOM album. I want to hear the original though that also had Rage and Inspectah Deck from the Wu on it.

that verse is sickadiddy.

he does rip dogg food but he doesn't rip it the way he rips the chronic and doggystyle and i never understood why he's never done that vicious amplifier mouthed RAW ass shit since. only on puffin blunts/tanqueray and some early bitches ain't shit freestyles but i count those as chronic/doggystyle. he had a fire back then that he already had lost by 'what would u do'

if you really listen to alot of his lyrics on lyrical gangbang, the lyrics weren't even as consistent as say that AEOM verse or some verses on dogg food but his delivery on lyrical gangbang: OMFJESUS....the whole sonic experience of that track is a unique tour de force the likes of which i've never heard again from before or after. that track is what rap should be.

I assumed I was still in Inglewood. I was lost homie, I was not going to ask for directions.  ;D Southern California cities are bunched up together. You can be driving for 5 minutes and go through like 5 cities. But Compton, Watts, Inglewood, Long Beach I made sure I knew where those places were at and I did not do alot of sight seeing there either. The shit was not Disneyland LOL! But when Kurupt said it in that verse, he painted a picture with that line for me. That was a cold ass line.

To me it is all L.A. I live in the desert so there is separation between cities. Cali is so easy to get lost and end up somewhere you do not want to be if you are not from there and do not know where you are going. And this was before I would use map search to get directions.

i consider the IE more LA all the time cause all it is is the overflow...we are DIRECTly east of LA, so it's all the same people. everyone in the IE is from LA mainly, even my mom spent time living in the mexican parts of east LA and south central and shit. La Puente and other areas and shit.

yeah the front cover to streetz is ridiculously dope. it looks almost cartoonish yet it's so real.

i've never seen more ridiculously elaborate emoticons than on this forum, lol at your pimp gangster happy face.

g-tv is Kurupts? i need that shit. they had gangsta shit and dpg eulogy at VIP but both those dvds diss Kurupt.

i thought he said inglewood in cavi hit cause it's where kurupt's from....what was the line exactly? and what does he say in gtv that made you think that?

i guess i kinda always thought since he's from philly he never repped a specific part of LA, just LA in general...so he'll mention long beach on snoop songs, compton in dre songs, inglewood on mac 10 songs etc.

I think he used to be the best on the West, especially because of his lyrics. He seems to just freestyle now, and his voice & flow are still great, he's just got no content. He kills that verse on the Hi-Tek album though, which makes me believe he's still got it. Plus, nothing beats the way him & Daz sound on a track together.

yeah their chemistry has always been unbelievably palpable. Kurupt even says it on his pseudo daz/soopa diss "i didn't change": 'me and the homie used to be the tightest group/and to this day we still the tightest group'

To me he killed the hi-tek verse cause he sat down and wrote it. i bet he can do that whenever he sits down and writes a verse, I think we have heard very few written Kurupt verses ever. I've been theorying for a while that most of his work is freestyled. part of what makes me think this is that alot of his verses are almost literally just different scrambles of the same words: peep his verse on sly boogy's CA remix...it's interchangeable with 80% of the verses on streetz iz a mutha.

You hit it on the nose, around the time of SIAMF, he started freestyling. His lyrics got considerably worse ( "bitch nigga/u more of a bitch than a bitch" ) & ( "shut the fuck up bitch/eat a dick bitch/eat a bowl of shit bitch" ). Lyrics got worse, but his flow was still on point and at least he had substanse. Once him & Daz split, he seemed to still freestyle, but just didn't care anymore. I mean dude rhymes the same word with the same meaning back to back in verses now, and it ain't cool. Now that he's fuckin with Daz again, he sounds like he's regaining his hunger.

If you think Gotti doesn't know what the fans had to say about YGATG, SDDS & CIA? He knows people think he fell off, probably sick of the critics, and that's why he stepped it up on the Hi-Tek album. All in all, when I hear Kurupts voice on a song, it automatically is gonna get a listen from me.

snoop also freestyles alot of his verses but I think Snoop is a doper freestyler than Kurupt he's alot smoother, Kurupt is the better lyricist he has written a few of Snoops shit and Daz's

speakin' of that, Kurupt wrote dre's verse on ask yaself, right? to me that would be the only justification for giving dre the last verse on the track and it sounds like a Kurupt verse.

also, Kurupt speaks at the beginning of warren g's "dollars and sense" but he doesn't rap on it...however, warren's verse is pretty dope and since he's not really a rapper I'm assuming Kurupt wrote that verse as well, anyone know?

I think it's not so much that he stepped up it's almost physically the opposite lol, I think he sat down and wrote that shit whereas I theorize, 80% of stuff that we've EVER heard from Kurupt (chronic 1992 to now) is freestyled.  but that's just my thought.

Interestin thread...for a long time I always believed Kurupt fell off due to him losin motivation and freestylin most of his verses post 2001, but r u sayin that u think 80% of his verses from 92 to now been freestyle? If so that's the first I heard a theory like this...those tracks u mentioned must be serious...to tell the truth I haven't been following up on DPG lately...I used to a BIG fan(still am I), but I also believed for a long time they would make a huge comeback...quality wise I'm speakin...now I kinda lost hope...anyway those tracks u mentioned in the first post...PM me. ;)

Keep it movin' is under a thread called '4 songs' or 4 tracks in hookup and i saw the 1 n 1 out video on youtube.

both verses seem to be written and yes I, until Kurupt tells Nima otherwise, feel that Kurupt has freestyled most of his career.

another bump of a dope thread. My 2 cents is that Kurupt who is my favorite MC of all time has stepped up this past year and brought alot of heat. The freestyling on record really started on "Kuruption!" when he kinda slept walked through alot of that album, even on the doper songs like "Fresh" it sounds like a freestyle. He started to rhyme alot of the same words over and over on verses and his flow turned choppy and sometimes lazy. Now you look at "Game" from that album and I don't know when that was recorded but that was vintage Kurupt right there.
