The "Blue Carpet" breakdown is finished, but we have more in store from Snoop Dogg for ya'll! In Part 4 of our interview, Snoop answered all of the questions posted by our forum members, mostly about his relationships to artists he used to work with, him helping out and putting on artists, and we also go way back in time and chop it up about unreleased songs from the Death Row days, and projects that never came out such as the LBC Crew record. All this and much more in Part 4 of our exclusive interview series with Snoop Dogg:

Snoop Dogg & Dubcnn - The Interview: Part 4 (Jan. '07) (http://www.dubcnn.com/interviews/snoopdogg07/part4)

Lookout for Part 5 of this epic interview this week where we discuss the new album "The Bigg Squeeze," the recent appointment of JT The Bigga Figga as his Vice President, the independent game, and so much more in our exclusive interview. Stay tuned to dubcnn!

There was a version of County Blues with a different beat on Dead Man Walking. I think Big Hutch did the beat. It sounded like he redid the vocals because it was slowed down and his voice was not as high pitched.

Yeah the one on the album it sounded like he went back and touched it up a little bit. I actually like the original better because it is more uptempo flow to it. The album version is cool too with a dope beat but Snoop's flow is alot slower. If I had it on me I'd throw it up here or maybe someone has it. But I never heard the original.

That interview was stunning, haha!  ;D
I liked when he replied to the airport question and went crazy because of his old songs.

I didn't knew he produced some of the LBC Crew tracks. Damn, they're so smooth.

And he really does have the "Long Beach Is A Muthafucka" track?  :o
Hopefully he'll send it to you, Nima, and give his permission to share that song. ;D

Yeah, I think Snoop is starting to realize the demand for these unreleased joints. I think he is going to do more projects like Unreleased Heat Rocks.

Yeah good read Nima,

Just a couple of things though, The 213 album was dope and if they decide to hook up for another one he should keep that same old skool flavor the debut had...Don't need a bunch of well-known producers fucc'n up the sound, sticc to about 2 or maybe 3 or just let Warren handle the boards..Good to hear a potential Latoya Willimas album is possibly coming out...LOL@ Snoop seems to think he's got some kind of pull with Dre...I'm sure he has a little, but I highly doubt he could get Dre to produce his whole album again(Break up 2 Make Up  ::)), I think at times he feels a little jealous of the situation Em or maybe even 50 has with Dre, but of course he'll brush it off and say look how many hits I done made with such and such...Snoops ego is huge, probably has too many yes men around him scarred to say that some of his shit is wacc
Title: Re: Snoop Dogg & Dubcnn - The Interview: Part 4 Up Now!
Post by: acgrundy on January 29, 2007, 03:25:25 PM
^^^^ yo I agree w/ that

especially since snoop said he don't ever listen to an eminem album.  He is probably a lil jealous of em and the help that em gets from dre.  Snoop wishes he could have dre do his entire album.  Shit, anyone wishes that shit.

LMMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thangs change. Nima: Snoop seemed genuinely happy as a young child when you played those tracks. I've never heard Snoop sound so happy. That shit is awesome.

Nima and Snoop: Props on that interview. This part painted a WAAAAAAAAAY prettier picture than the last one(I guess no Bitch Please 3?)

what album did style release with daz? one on dpg recordz? Cause Lil Style's shit on Daz's R.A.W is fire.

Why didn't you ask him about Warren G producing the 213 record? also, why didn't warren produce the first one at all(we've heard warren's side and it was "ask snoop" let's listen to warren!)? What do you think snoop meant when he said bigger producers? I think we'd all like to see a 213 record produced by Dre, Daz, Soopafly, and Warren G. I haven't bought the 213 record SOLELY because Warren G doesn't produce it...doesn't feel like a 213 record. A real 213 song is a Warren G beat, 2-3 Snoop verses, and a Nate Dogg bridge/hook.

also, perhaps next time ask if he will ever let Daz produce for a snoop album again?

as far as LB is a mofo...probably more novelty than quality, but I'm down.

also, that county blues....snoop hadn't even met dre yet when he made this, correct?

I think this interview (coupled with the classic 2005 one) proves beyond a doubt that Snoop KNOWS he makes the best shit with Dre he just is too unselfish to do purely dre produced records for all the reasons he said. he does have a nice portion of Long Beach residents eatin'.
PROPS to snoop and Nima.

also, I compleeeeeetely think Snoop DOES have that pull with Dre. I've seen nothing to lead me to believe he DIDN'T have pull with Dre. Never forget when Snoop wanted to make a fuckin' MOVIE with Dre, Eminem's ass was not even literally in the back seat. Dre knows what's up with Long Beach. I think Daz's dissing is 80% of the reason Dre doesn't work with DPG anymore(why Kurupt though? whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?????!!??) I mean shit, Dre produced 40 glocc's plain ass when Tray Deee needed him too. Dre knows what he owes to Long Beach and Snoop. In the same way that when the D.O.C. asked Dre for some beats and Dre gave him TEN of the motherfuckers for 6-2/Deuce, I think if Snoop wanted 9 dre beats on top of the 3 songs they'd actually work on in the studio together he'd get 'em but like he said we would have no meech, no damani and bad lucc, no battlecat and fred wreck, no jell roll, no e-white....and those dudes gotta eat too!

eminem albums have about 3 dre beats JUST like Snoop albums, don't know what credits you've been reading. and I believe that that is snoop's decision, the more dre the less people he can fuck with and snoop's social status almost obligates him to fuck with alot of people.

Haha naw man, this was made right after Pt 3, we didn't get off the phone, it was the same conversation! Pt 5 is from the same conversation too, I just broke it down in 3 parts..

Pt 3 was the album breakdown pt 2
pt 4 was the dubcc questions + unreleased songs talk
pt 5 is more business orientated, speaks bout his myspace shit, his internet moves, jt the bigga figga as his VP, and the "Bigg squeeze" compilation..

but it was all one convo, so snoop really wasn't mad!

Eminem's 4 albums deep though... and this is the fourth Snoop album with Dre beats on it.... but yo, I just read this on AllHipHop forums, don't know where this is taken from, or if it's even real:

Quote
Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre get into some really deep subject matter on the song "Imagine," but imagine if the song never came out — it almost didn't. Snoop joked recently that making the track wasn't as easy as you might think.

"I had to basically fight him, get in a sword fight with him, a 12 o'clock shootout," Snoop smiled. "Then when I got the song from him, he called me the last couple of days before the record was coming out and said, 'I don't like the record and I don't want it to come out.' Come on, cuz."

Snoop said his camp was eventually able to convince Dre to let the record drop. "I understand what he's saying," Snoop clarified about his former mentor's hesitancy. "He's getting ready for his record. 'I'm not trying to let nothing out until it's my turn.' He's not like a regular artist who can be on five or six records at one time. If he's on a project, he's on a project. I had to go in there and move things around, because he was actually mixing Jay-Z's record. ... But we got it together. It's some of my greatest work. And I'm so honored to have him on my project." ...

If that's legit, sounds like Dre tried to pull what he did with Busta for Imagine or what he did with Mobb Deep for that song he did with them... pull it at the last second... glad Snoop was able to convince him though!

for real. it sounds like it's real, doesn't really sound "made up" and like you said nima, dre's done it b4, so it's not exactly out of the question. thank god dre did that with mobb deep, didnt want no dre on that horrible cd. :-\

Aquarious are flakes?  since when?

Aquarius' are air signs and always have been. They tend to be flighty; they don't like to be tied down. They always need to be free, don't like committment so they tend to go from being really into one thing to being really into another thing relatively quickly.

Bottom line for me, Dre does not make or break a Snoop album for me. There are plenty of dope producers within Snoop's camp that he can use. And if he has to jump through hoops to work with the man, then how accessible is Dre? I don't think you can tie down Dre long enough to get him to do a album like Doggystyle anymore. He did alot of beats on Kingdom Come on Jay Z's but those beats were emailed to Jay. Just off of fans requests alone if Dre worked with everyone fans wanted him to work with, he might as well not have a label.

Should tell you something. Dre: Doesn't give a fuck about the fans. If Detox has 50 but no Kurupt, I hope that shit pulls a fucking firm.

Furthermore, dude shouldn't have a label. Takes forever for him to do ANYTHING. He should just have a production company. If I had it my way Dre storch,hi-tek,focus, mel-man, elizondo, batson, and the dogghouse producers(as a mothafuckin' team) would produce nothing but eminem, nas, and west coast artists and shit would get down like it should. it's a shame dre's better at training business men than artists these days (eminem capitalized on 50 like dre capitalized on him, yet eminem's production is just dre production without funk)

Aquarious are flakes?  since when?

Aquarius' are air signs and always have been. They tend to be flighty; they don't like to be tied down. They always need to be free, don't like committment so they tend to go from being really into one thing to being really into another thing relatively quickly.

I'm aquarious, sounds about right

I have said Snoop should have a production company for YEARS. As for albums that did not have Dre production, Doggfather- Dre left, Game Is To Be Sold- 1st No Limit album so he went with their producers, Paid The Cost- Asked Dre to get down and he did not, R&G- was working heavy with Pharrell. It gave producers like Dj Pooh, Fred Wreck, Battlecat, Meech Wells and others a chance to shine, and like the skit on Doggfather said, most people thought his beats would be delicate once Dre left. Dre could have took Snoop with him and DPGC to Aftermath but he wanted to start fresh with new artists so in that sense Snoop has been able to create his own lane for himself with other artists. It may not be as big as if he was with Dre but once again like the million other artists that are waiting on him, It is all up to Dre.

we absolutely sure dre declined working on paid tha cost? wonder if it had to do with the fact that dre didn't want nothing to do with pim slapp'd or something.

and I meant dre should have a production company.

and those beats were alot more delicate, why has warren g never produced on a snoop album? that shit would be the best kind of delicate and would make up for dre's absence at times.

also, warren g produced a buuunch of EARLY UNRELEASED KURUPT.whooooooooooooooooeeeeeeeeeeeeee...can you say unreleased classic? I guarantee you that shit off the fucking meat thermometer! NIMAAAAAAAAAAAA, tell Snoop i'll pay 500 dollars for that Kurupt/Warren G record if he can get it.

also, just realized...it would not have been easy to take Snoop and DPGC to aftermath. they'd still be in court with Suge right now if they made a mass exodus. It would have been some 10 commandments level shit.

I meant to say dre should have a production company, my bad. I would not be surprised. This was also around the time Snoop was saying that Dre and Xzibit were wrong for dissing Jermaine Dupri and not Suge for all the fucked up things he has done to them so it would not surprise me if Dre just did not find time to do beats. The delicate part was from the skit on Doggfather and to be Doggfather still had hard beats. I think in the end having to work with different producers other than Dre helped Snoop out. He showed that he is versatile enough to spit over different beats. As for Warren G you could ask that along with Daz. How can you have and DPG and a 213 album without Daz and Warren G doing beats?

Tha Dogg Pound at this time was content being at Death Row. Either way you was going to have to give up something to get Snoop. I can understand that Dre probably would not want the hassle that came with that. The other rumor that was going around was that Snoop was going to sign with Priority as a solo artist.

It's a easy target. But like I said at this point it would be great to have more Dre/Snoop collabos but I would also like to hear Snoop get down with Meech, Fred Wreck, and Daz too. Like he said in the interview, if he did not get down and do collabo with these people, no one would know who they are or they would have to get down with someone else.

Mad props to Nima! I just registered like a week ago, but ive been checking in on dubcnn.com every day, for a long time, to get the latest on westcoast hip-hop. And dudes like Nima and the rest of the staff behind dubcc make it real easy to stay updated.

I was just wondering Nima, how is it to talk to all of these "celebrities?

I personally would like to see dre sign 1 person do there whole album and then let them go and start again. This way we get albums quicker more dope music and more artists can have a solid debut.

I don't believe snoop has very much if any control over dre. A big reason i think dre was the bct and gave snooop imagine was because he wants on Detox

Really I think the reason dubcnn is able to get all these in-depth personal interviews is because when we talk to the artists it's not a media/press-artist conversation, but it's more of a fan-artist conversation, and often even a fan-fan conversation... These dudes are all regular people when it comes down to it and you get a way better interview if you go at it that way..

snoop's full of shit.  besides, there was 1 fredwreck beat and 0 meech and daz on tbct.  paid tha cost and r&g weren't exactly west out either where he couldn't have made room for dre.  he can always spin there being no break up 2 make up because of dre not wanting to rap a whole album..but the fact is that dre just aint fucking with him like use to.

we'll see how much shine he gets on detox...he only had 3 verses and a hook out of 22 tracks on 2001 and i think their relationship was a lot stronger back then.

Nima,  YOU THE MAN for this one!!!

I really loved hearin Snoop wylin out when he heard those songs.  You could tell he'd forgotten about those.  Thats some shit you don't hear or feel with other interviews.  You feel like you're basically just chilin with Snoop choppin it up.  Excellent job and keep it up.

And it's important to give Snoop all the props as well because he doesn't do this type of shit with anybody else.  He knows what Dubcc is about.  So mad props to Snoop as well for taking time out to be real with us and do these types of interviews.

As far as the discussion itself, the only thing that I'm not feelin Snoop on is his decisions regarding 213.  I thought their first record was wack because it wasn't Warren on the beats.  How can you call it 213 and not have Warren G behind the boards?  Thats pretty damn wack.  I'm all for you know maybe a few others - battlecat, daz, soopa, fred, whatever.  But damn near every track should be Warren on the beat.  And now he's talkin like if he does another 213 record, he wants only big names???  Come on now, quit bullshiitin.  Put Warren on the beat, Nate on the hook, and Snoop on the verse.  Let everybody else in the family come on board, but at least have those 3 core elements on every track.  That's a 213 record.

Long Beach Is a Muthafucka
Tha Next Episode OG
Gz Up Hoez Down
Hoe Hopper
Aint No Bacctraccin
Back Up Hoe
Nuthin But a G Thang Freestyle (over the bitches aint shit beat)
Let Me Ride Extended Remix
G U Lookin For

and yo about access to dre, snoop has arguebaly the most access to dre, simply because he is the only nigga not on aftermath who dre LOVES....Dre is snoops biggest fan, don't trip on that muthafucker, detox will not come out if snoop is not on it, thats how much weight snoop hold on dre....i put my rep on it, if snoop is not on detox, it will either never come out or will be wack....snoop n dre need each other just as much....snoop can go albums without dre, yes but the nigga releases shit on a regular, dre cannot go a album without snoop because his album is the biggest even in hiphop, it comes out after so long that snoop not working with dre on his album cannot be imagined....

oh and yeah, eminem and 50 probably have the most dre beats and access to him rihght now....simply because they are on his label, they are aftermath, they make him the most paper, but fact is, snoop is the one nigga who dre will work with outside of aftermath as if the nigga was his number 1 start on the math, they like brothers, love and hate

Yep, dre knows a funky sound and snoop to this day is funky. i think eminem has equal access to dre though, but not more just equal. and 50 is their meal ticket so to me it's irrelevant to discuss him.

also...snoop did the one blood remix with crooked I, so it's all good.

and yo about access to dre, snoop has arguebaly the most access to dre, simply because he is the only nigga not on aftermath who dre LOVES....Dre is snoops biggest fan, don't trip on that muthafucker, detox will not come out if snoop is not on it, thats how much weight snoop hold on dre....i put my rep on it, if snoop is not on detox, it will either never come out or will be wack....snoop n dre need each other just as much....snoop can go albums without dre, yes but the nigga releases shit on a regular, dre cannot go a album without snoop because his album is the biggest even in hiphop, it comes out after so long that snoop not working with dre on his album cannot be imagined....

oh and yeah, eminem and 50 probably have the most dre beats and access to him rihght now....simply because they are on his label, they are aftermath, they make him the most paper, but fact is, snoop is the one nigga who dre will work with outside of aftermath as if the nigga was his number 1 start on the math, they like brothers, love and hate

peace
Yep, dre knows a funky sound and snoop to this day is funky. i think eminem has equal access to dre though, but not more just equal. and 50 is their meal ticket so to me it's irrelevant to discuss him.

also...snoop did the one blood remix with crooked I, so it's all good.

-T

Crooked I was added to that song later, so they did not work together on it.

That shit will not be ironed out until they sit down and squash that shit. At this point I could care less. I would rather have a new Crooked I album then that but both options are long shots at this point.

so snoop never commented on crooked I's interview that was in response to that snoop interview? cause crooked spoke real in that shit and if snoop didn't come at him cool since than snoop has no moral barometer and is as much of a hater as those he's accused of hating.

also, in regards to those who said dre wouldn't do break up to make up cause he doesn't want to rap for a whole album...dre doesn't rap on all of any of his albums...why the fuck would he rap all of break up to make up? all break up to make up had to have been is a snoop record with all dre production. dre only needed to rap two or three songs for break up to make up and if you ask me break up to make up is tha last meal, the wash soundtrack, no limit top dogg, tha blue carpet treatment, and the chronic 2001.

I'd Love to see a Lady Of Rage album..but seriously will it sell??  )did she already ahve an album out???)

Question, does she want to even rap again???

It might only do a couple of sales in the WestCoast, mite sell in VA where Rage is from..but will it really go plat or at least Gold??

I don't know..for some strange reason, femael MCs in the West, don't shine long enough, which is a darn shame!!

Look at Kola,Coniyac and Big Chan...they were bout spittin bars, rather than splittin bras ;D

YoYo was str8 cool...back in the day...
Storm from Outlaw Imortalz, Tupac's group..was lethal as well..but chances of her blowing up outside of Pac were slim..(am not sure,if she still raps).

Ne ways, im lookin forward tot he idea o Rage puttin out an Album, but if not, i'd like to see her do more appearances of (DPG) related albums..
i know she was featured on one of the Tracks on DPG (cali Is Active Album)

She dropped a tight line..can't recall somthin along the lines of "Im not a Crip, but i am dat b*tch from the Dogg Pound Click"..i think...

Peace!

There are alot of artists that don't sell. If the music industry took that approach no one would come out. Will she go platinum? Probably not. Gold? Hell I don't know, I just want a Rage album. Snoop is doing most of his stuff indie now anyways so I just want a Rage album done and out. Including guest appearances.

But it's up to her
I know she worked on a mixtape "from VA-to-LA"

i've heard a couple of songs from her

1.Boss Lady
2. DPG set

And a few others.
She has her won Label..so it's no really up to Snoop i guess.

Go Peep her here www.bossladyent.com

Oh By the way, you can get at her here as well=>http://www.myspace.com/officialladyofrage

Hopefully soemthing from Rage in terms of an Album should be dropping hopefully..i don't know...But It's good to hear, she is still making music so how!!

Oh yeah I know she is indie, Snoop's wife is her manager. I was saying if her situation changed and she would want to be put out by Snoop. If you ask Snoop then he is going to say well it is up to Rage. But thanks for those links I will ask her myself.  ;D I am a HUGE Lady Of Rage fan and that mixtape was CRAZY. Nima, we need a Rage Interview. Fred Wreck said he was doing some tracks with her but I don't know if it is for a album.

who's the chick on the regulate album? she was funky as well as pac's chick rapper friend that was mentioned.

only chick rapper i've ever heard fuck with Rage is that jean gray chick...she gets the fuck down, she from ny or somethin right?

Rage is  Sicc..I like her voice..adn her ability to use words that you never though could rhyme
You shuld hear her on this track..

b) DPG Set. Feat RBX & Goldie Loc (she kills it, dang It)-     http://s1.upload.sc/request/e1e7afe90445a138167147eea2b14d70/owner
)
c) Put You Up On Ragef feat Diamonique-      http://s1.upload.sc/request/3b193433beb797b05237778719f7697d/owner

She was not on the Dre 2001 album, if thats what you askin Homey..

She did appear on Cali Is Active and a few other tracks..I know She did a track with Da Brat, Charlie Baltimore called " Thoroughl B*tchez"

As for the Regulayte Album..i think that was either Jae Skillz or Neb Love..from the group "5-Footaz"..Damn i miss those gurls!!..They had d ability to spit!!!!!!!!!..Dang..speakin on 5 Footaz, i know Neb  Love moved on, and did an Album..don't know what happened to the rest.... I know Neb Love has her own myspace..www.myspace.com/nebluvrocks  Her music has changed a little abit..but still refreshing!!!

Yeah Storm was tight.. she had a very unique voice!
Always enjoyed listenin to her!! She did a track called "Mash for Our Dreams
I don't see her making an album or doing a mix-tape..think she gave up on rap, after Pac got shot and died!!

Would not be surprised if Snoop smoked the blunt he should have smoked before the interview after the interview and forgot. Stoners are good if incompetent people.
