man where is nate dogg at? is he on his way to retire or what?
we need another "solo" record and dope westcoast hooks ...
-
Snoop said in his recent DubCNN interview that he's in the studio working on his album. Plus, he's popped up on "Doctors Advocate" and "Tha Blue Carpet Treatment" so it's not like he's completely disappeared.
-
yeah i didnt say he disappeared ... and nice to hear hes in the studio. i didnt read the snoop interview yet
-
Nate fell off, I mean how could anyone really check for this guy after hearing all his recent shit???He completely ruined songs like Game's "Too Much".
-
There's a radio rip of his new song (dre produced) floating around on the net - sounds pretty sick.
Nate fell off, I mean how could anyone really check for this guy after hearing all his recent shit???He completely ruined songs like Game's "Too Much".
I disagree but even if Nate has fallen off, he still shits on Akon.
-

Whaaaat? I think Nate KILLED IT on "Too Much".

That track needed more Nate 8)

Nate just worked and recorded three tracks with Down, Don Won & Mr.Criminal from Streetlight Music.
That "Coming Home" tracks sounds good, got a real good westcoast feeling.
Here's a YouTube video of the recording sessions:

Crazy was dope. I heard there was a new track produced by dre from him.
-
we need an interview

i disagree, nate still sounds good..
some examples:
-crazy
-that strip club song with eminem
-black mercedes
-
Nate was the shit and still is the shit. I can listen to "G-Funk Classics" errday and to be serious, I don't know much tracks where Nate gots a bad perfomance. The way he sings on "Crazy" or on Warren G's "Mid-Night Hour" is just amazing. By the way he killed the whole 213 record on every fucking track, he outshined Snoop and Warren, even though they were dope too in my opinion.
-
THAT YOUTUBE VIDEO IS THE SHIT
great songs and great Nate Dogg
Fuck Akon
-
Nates not goin anywhere! hes still dope! Snds gud on the dre produced track that leaked.
-
i'm glad he started to lay low, for a while he was on every damn single or album; now I actually want to hear him again. I liked the way he was sounding on midnite hour, I hope he continues to do some new shit.
-
I still think he's dope these days, I like too much and crazy
-

2 True! Gr8 point.
-

what the fuck are you talking about, the track is dope as fuck because of Nate Dogg, Too Much is my favorite track off DA
-
nate is still dope ..no doubt
-
That "Money in the hood" track looks serious
-
Nate Dogg is still here !! Nobody can't do it better like he do it !! 8) 8) His the best !!
-
we need a nate interview
-
fuck yeah, I don't think i've ever seen an interview with him that wasn't about snoop dogg or dre.
-

Your lost buddy.
-
hes cool, but as I start to grow up, i realize hes not that tight. I'd rather listen to Sleepy Brown over Nate Dogg anyday. Nate just isnt that versatile.

nah, nate was on so many classics, he used his voice to make so many tracks have that lil bit extra, dude's a hook-legend imo
and i def dont think he fell off, hes still on his old level with his last tracks Crazy, Too Far, Shake That, Black Mercedes, In the Mid-Nite Hour, you name it

im not doubting that he made a lot of classics, there are a lot of good songs that hes done. but if you observe from a talent perspective, hes not that great of a vocalist/singer. he doesnt have that much vocal range, his subject and theme of songs are so limited. He only sings on like rap/hip hop type of songs.
He'd never be able to pull off some smooth R&B stuff, that actually sounds mature or grown.

Maybe you're right, but Nate's got that X-factor that makes a track sound soooooo good. It might be his swagger on the mic, but whatever it is,it does it for me.
-
Dont forget that Nate always said as he grew older he's gonna move away from Hip-Hop stuff and do more challenging R&B/Gospel stuff...there was an interview around 2000-2001 where he talked about wanting to serende his wife at a wedding and it led onto what he sees his career doing into and after his 40s and thats what he talked about...
-
His new track sounds pure R&B - I wanna hear that in CDQ.

Since when is R&B grown or mature? You thzink R. Kelly, Akon, Beyoncé or Rihanna is some kind of mature? It's kiddy-style. I rather listen to a real gangsta singer than those poppy "love-song bitches". Nate never the greatest lyricist but I don't even expect him to be that, I just want Nate to spit some Gangsta Ass Westcoast sound...

hell yeah, most of these r&b cats are straight up fags on the mic, talkin bout how they love this and that, bah, nate got a unique style, a unique voice and he made classic like it was nothing, nobody can say that, and r&b def aint mature, its as mature as hiphop and rock and pop and w/e is, its about the subjects of the song

ok forget the R&B you know. take a listen to someone like Raheem DeVaughn, D'Angelo, Erykah Badu, alicia keys, Jaguar Wright, Sleepy Brown, theres tons of R&B folks out there besides the very limited artists that you know "R. Kelly, Akon, Beyonce, or Rihanna"
-
You're confusing versatility with how many styles someone has. nate only has one style which is what you are saying and that is true. But Nate is very versatile, he can fit on any kind of rap song damn near from backpack hip hop with pharoahe monche to g funk with the favorites, to pop shit with the pop people, to mature well produced r and b like on G funk classics.
too much and crazy are both really great.
that song that dre produced 'leave it alone' is gonna be banging in CVQ and it's a very mature r and b record, this the one you're speakin' on digital pimpin'?
Too much is my fave track on DA as well.
we fly high-I know what you mean in your criticisms, such criticisms are what led me to get into so much classic rock, modern rock and blues in the last 4 years. I needed different types of singing and I feel i've been exposed to alot of great voices now but it doesn't change the bumpability of g funk classics which I listened to almost the whole thing of yesterday purely by coincidence. +1

Kids Needs to go check the Vault!! real R&B isnt Rihanna, Chris Brown and shit like that ..they make Pop Music, Nate Dogg Could have Been on the same level as Charlie Wilson, Luther Vandross, Barry White or Gerald Levert or people like D,angelo & Bilal, but he's too busy doing gangsta hooks , his first album was great, but after that, he wasnt able to put sumthin that we could listen to 15 years later. Not to say that I dont like his hooks or whatever, but i feel like he could do better songs, maybe its because im getting older

there are some really great r and b cuts on g funk classics, so i mean..he has done some of those better songs, But yeah I haven't even heard his whole albums since g funk classics. he has music and me, is there another?

He'd never be able to pull off some smooth R&B stuff, that actually sounds mature or grown.
IMO he did that on G Funk Classics Vol 1... esp on songs like Crazy/Dangerous, Scared Of Love & Where Are You Going...
one of the finest albums i own... probably listen to it weekly.

Its his style... do people ask Ludacris to be more serious/mature? Music is about having fun and doing what you do and if that's what he loves (that's what I love, I dont need to express my maturity via music), well that's what he's gonna do. If everybody had the same style, music would be boring. I have no problem if people don't like Nate Dogg because of his subject matter, but I do, i'm not gonna ask D'Angelo to make a hook like "It Aint no fun" ,its not his style and I respect that. If Nate Dogg was like the other Rnb cats, what would be special about him? Music needs diversity and all the tastes are good tastes, getting your dick sucked IS mature... no need to make sweet music to be mature.
Being mature is being able to respect an opinion that's not yours and accept that your opinion is not a fact

Yer his self titled album that got released as a download only.

Nate always been able to make good music...and he have done some smooth r&b nowadays at warren g's "the midnighthour"...
you can't compare nate with d'angelo or bilal or cats like that...they all three are good singers and musicans but nate dogg do it in another way that's all.. he's not lesser talented than them he just do other type of music.
I'm happy that not all music sound the same, you know...it would be boring if every singer would sound the same
-
could someone please hook up the radio rip of that nate dogg song produced by dre havent heard it yet
-

I've heard he'll eventually go by Nate Hale, and do pure R&B. The kid can sing, but resently, it seems that Nate is used for the typical Westcoast track, but his not puttin out singles.
-
wasn't 'there she goes' only released 1 or 2 years ago? nate made that song a classic!
-

its too late for that anyways imo, cause he now already got a name of westcoast gangstarap hook-singer ::)
-
so to answer the question, he and dre got somethin' cookin' as expressed by the song that was played on the radio "leave it alone"
-T
-

akon took over.
-
akon took over.
his voice just doesn't do it for me, i was just thinking last nigh "is this was this dude came over from south africa or whatever for...to sing about livin' a boss' life and strip clubs? he needed to mob from fuckin' africa to come here and do that shit? we already have plenty of homegrown dudes to do that shit." Is he a fuckin' refugee or something, something about his backstory that I am missing?

But you gotta look though. Where did Akon make his mark? Not on the west coast. On the east coast. I used to always clown my friend from NY and say your artists need a west coast artist to make your hooks tighter and make some hits. Nate Dogg was ALL over east coast albums. Jada, Fab, Freeway, 50, the list goes on and on. So Akon was like a nice alternative for other rappers. And he is not from any coast here. Once he did Locked Up it was a wrap. And the industry follows the money trail. Everyone wants to work with the "it" artist and Akon is that right now.
-
Damn, Nate should back wit his G-Funk!
This shit's dope, I remember those tracks from 90s, that's that shit!

that's cool that he makes money and all but so do republicans. I'm just saying his voice doesn't do it for me, and I don't get his story. Like he's a west or south african dude or whatever that mobbed out here to make music? to me it's just outta left field I guess.
also, your avi, that the original cover to dogg chit or is that one still gonna be used?

^LOL that's what I think about Akon's voice, I can't really stand listening to him...Nate's always gonna have that #1 spot of hook-singing on lock... 8)

-T
Yeah his voice is :-\ My avi is the 1st Dogg Chit cover they scrapped. Someone wanted to rock the other one so I went with this one. Nate always will be the man on the west. The east just wanted they own hook man. ;D Snoop works with him too, but again that is because he is the "it" artist right now. Wait until he wins some Grammys, then even more people will want to work with him.
-
thats why hook men are so important these days. nobody relys on actually rapping no more to sell records, its the hook and the beat.
it dont matter where akon is from, he makes hits.

some rappers get it cracking through their actual rapping, mac dre for example, you can fuckin party to him accappella alone, he just so happens to have great production and hooks too.
