We're at it again! We raised hell and raised each other's ire in the third of our ongoing series of Greatest of All Time Hip-Hop debates.
A lot of you know this drill: MTV News' hip-hop brain trust converges in a studio and all of a sudden, smoke begins coming out of people's nostrils, voices are raised (along with the roof), best friends start insulting each other — and that's during the pleasant moments.
Watch the battle unfold on "The Greatest Hip-Hop Groups of All Time," premiering Sunday at 2 p.m. on MTV2!

De La Soul didn't make the list, and N.W.A stands above A Tribe Called Quest? They may have been greater, but most definately in no way could they possibly be called better.
Can't say MTV doesn't have a sense of humor.

Well... I agree with you, Fugees are kinda overrated and Mobb Deep definately deserve to be higher on this list than UGK (LOL). Kinda shows you the MTV-point of view. "Well, they had them big hits, so that makes them the best!"
Besides, what big hits did UGK have besides being co-starred on Big Pimpin'? :o

does it matter? and it´s not like Mobb Deep´s catalog is better then UGK´s anyway. their one of the best rap groups of all time. but i´m wondering how they put some of those groups on there without puttin the Geto Boys on that bitch.

UGK are great but i'd definetly put De La Soul, and Geto Boys ahead of them.
Bone Thugs and Mobb Deep come to my mind too but they're good honorable mentions which is what UGK would be IMO.

salt n peppa should not be on that list, they were a creation of the lable. And the fugees should not be on that list with 2 albums.

I would replace UGK with the geto boys, take the fugees and salt n peppa off and add mobb deep and de la soul.

Wow, MTV 2007 actually acknowledging PE, ATCQ, EPMD? Almost unbelievable - but I'll give them their props for coming up with a respectable list (seeing as how I haven't said a positive thing about the channel in several years). De La should be there before UGK, and Salt N Pepa ain't shit without Herbie The Luv Bug writing their shit.
