Title: Top 5 Washed Up Rappers
Post by: phatpat on March 27, 2007, 10:09:03 AM
1. DJ Quik - his new music sucks, the beats don't even sound westcoast, plus recently he went to jail for assault, if thats not washed up, what is?
2. Raekwon - had a hot album in 1995, that was like 12 years ago.........(actually you could say whole Wu-Tang is washed up)
3. Dogg Pound - New album is a step backwards, lyrics subject matter haven't changed from 1995 (but then these guys are dumb as a f***)
4. Jay-Z - Does this guy actually have anything to say that we haven't heard before.
5. Nas - He reminds me of a grumpy old man.

Wow at your list. Raekwon has 3 albums, not as hot as the the first but damn far from falling off.

Quik- Trauma?

DPG- ok

Jay Z- not really feeling the new album

Nas- Nah he still doing it.

Wu-Tang ( minus Ghost & Rae, there music is terrible now. I don't even feel RZA's beats as much anymore)
MC Eiht ( has released one dope album out of about 10 since Quik tore him a new one )
RBX ( never cared for him much, the fact that he's still trying to sell is funny too me )
The Roots ( just not there time anymore, they will always get nominated for the grammy's every time they put out an album at least, but last album sounded very weak )
Yukmouth/Keak Da Sneak ( They both have had mulitple opportunities to be successful and blew it every time. )

In no order

Tha Dogg Pound - First album just barely came out before they started falling off.
Mobb Deep - Released 2 classics, went on the decline, signed to the hottest record label at the time, and ended up releasing their worst album (sales and quality wise).
Warren G - Went from 3x platinum, to having his father beg people not to download his album.
Crooked I - It's amazing how someone could have nothing and still manage to find a way to fall off.

Can only think of 4 right now.

I agree with the xzibit statement, but Em & 50 washed up? When one of them releases an album that doesn't sell gold, then u can say they fell off, but they are still selling alot of records and haven't even really been around long enough to be washed up anyways.

I knew you was gonna quote my post  I'm not talking about how many records these guys have sold, I'm talking strictly beats & lyrics.50's first 3 albums (Power Of The Dollar, Guess Who's Back & Get Rich Or Die Tryin') are dope as hell especially GWB, that's an east coast classic imo.But ever since he released Beg For Mercy with the rest of the G-Unit his rhymes have become so weak, I mean they're bellow average.Massacre had some cool beats & songs but the rest was trash. As for Eminem, I just can't stand his voice, rhymes & basically everything that has to do with him.First of all, he sounds like he's from the south or something. Also he either raps about stupid shit like sleeping with little boys, how he farts & shits or he raps gangsta. He began rapping gangsta ever since 50 was signed to Shady/Aftermath.He acts like noone has gone through the shit he's been through.I liked him on the Slim Shady LP & that's about it.Even though I didn't like Em's style on The Eminem Show, I gotta admit lyrically (talking about mic skills) Em Was a beast.Oh & his beats, he's got a few nice productions & a few wack ones.

I never understood how people could bare listenin to him on his guest appearances, but a whole album?..

Xzibit
Damn,Restless was a classic,MvM and WOMD were both solid and ill admit Full Circle wasnt up to my standards as an X fan but overall I think he's still holdin his own.

At The Speed Of Life=dope as fuck
40 Dayz & 40 Nightz=west coast classic
Restless=west coast classic
& every CD after that is just straight wack.Yeah he's got a few good songs here & there but that's it.It's sad cause X used to be my favorite rapper :'(

LOL I seem to have gotten into a habit of defending them. But 50 has stepped his lyrical game up in the last few months, and if youve peeped the Re-Up, so has Eminem.

I swear you never heard "Affiliated" of MC Eiht, because you used the word trash. Nobody who really listened to "Affiliated" can tell that Eiht is trash. It was one of the best records in 2006, Eiht is still hot.

To add to the list:

Mack 10 - his first album was good, then it kind of went downhill.
Ant Banks - Is this guy still alive? In the mid 90s, he was sort of the Bay Area Dr Dre.
Lil Jon - No one listens to that crunk B.S. anymore
Nate Dogg - His hooks are starting to get repetitive, they lack the same freshness of the mid-90s.

Last but not least:
Rappin-4-Tay - his "Don't fight the feelin" was hot, Playa's Club is one of the smoothest songs of all time, he was even on All Eyez on Me, but he fell off so bad.

The Dangerous Crew Movement might have something to say about that lol. Can't say that Ant Banks fell off; he just hasn't put much out.

Nate Dogg was getting overplayed on the hooks a few years ago, but judging by his new track plus the Boss' Life single, he's back on top of his game.

lol @ saying nobody listens to crunk. Lil Jon had enough hits in 2006. To name you a few and to pimp your knowledge:
Ice Cube - Go To Church ft. Snoop Dogg & Lil Jon
E-40 - Tell Me When To Go ft. Keak Da Sneak
E-40 - U And Dat ft. T-Pain & Kandi Girl
Lil Jon - Snap Yo Fingaz ft. Sean Paul of Youngbloodz & E-40

all produced by Lil Jon. You can hate his music, but u can't say crunk is washed up when it still sells ese.

^^So very true.

A lot of weird names in this thread to have in a "washed-up" list. Quik? Hell no. The Roots? You must be on acid, Game Theory was tight as hell. Raekwon? Pssh, whatever. The Wu still got it.

IMO washed up would be:

50 Cent. He fell the fuck off so hard its amazing he didn't dent the Earth.
Eminem. Just listen to his first three albums - and then the fourth. Makes you wonder what the fuck happened to that beast on the mic. Though I gotta say his verse on "There They Go" on Obie's album was real dope.
Jay-Z I'm having mixed feelings about. He would've been better off if he hadn't made Kingdom Come, that's for sure.

1. Xzibit - One of the best Mc'c in the game, made 40 Days 40 Nights which is one of my favourite albums ever, but his last three albums have been Wack to slightly above average.

2. Dmx - Every album has been worst than the one before it

3. Method Man - Only his debut was good

4. Jadakiss - One of the most talented Mc's in the game, and has only released two average albums in over 10 years

5. Fat Joe - Used to come with some classic hardcore east coast Hip Hop, now he just sounds soft.

2. Dmx - Every album has been worst than the one before it

3. Method Man - Only his debut was good

4. Jadakiss - One of the most talented Mc's in the game, and has only released two average albums in over 10 years

5. Fat Joe - Used to come with some classic hardcore east coast Hip Hop, now he just sounds soft.

none of them are washed up, your jus not enjoying their newer music ::)

I think the list is good except for Jada who was never really on anyways. But the other 4 artists music are shadow's of what they used to be and the same goes for there record sales.

1. DPG . crack does awful things to people, and destroyed these peoples careers.
2. DJ Quik - This Fixxers idea is bad, and that song you released with AMG was the worst song I've heard in years.
3. DMX - Was awful, still awful, but can't even have commercial success.
4. The Game. Second album did poorly, was a shitty album. Bad artist.
5. Xzibit. Legend, but released one of the worst albums on 2006.

ADD

Rakim - Hate to say, but he hasn't released a decent album since the eighties, and has a chance at Aftermath to ressurect his career, but he blew it.
Ja Rule - Who?
Tony Yayo - If that mothafucka came to my hood, he'll get the shit kicked out of him.
Suge Knight - Not really a rapper, but the guy is eating off records that came out in 96
Dogg Pound - A perfect example of why weed is ok, but crack is not.

Have you ever considered deleting your account .

LOL !!! ;D

You always got the good word !!!

Rappers shoudln't be judged as washed up by how good there music is to fans, but it should mean record sales, support, fanbase strength ( see record sales ) and all around quality.
