Luca Toni to Bayern is not official yet, but i would bet $ 100 on it, man. It sounds like they'll do it. He's a good striker. A Van Nilsterooy type of striker: he has size, he can score from every position and he can do it in Germany too, no doubt. You guys need someone like him, imho.

Man how do you rate Salihamidzic? We (Juventus) signed him. He'll be a backup right wing for Camoranesi.

He's not a technical player, doesn't have great skill but he never stops fighting and has great heart.. he's a good motivator and shit, but I wouldn't count on him running circles around Italian defenders

Ribery will end up at Arsenal.. he said he was "attracted" (no homo) by England and Spain.. anyways this guy is already a "has been" imo, he's too dumb to keep playin at a high level.. without mentionning he wanna be on another team every six months.. Nasri(also plays for Marseille) will be a very good player

Your team wants Malouda and Anelka too right ? that would be very good additions.. even if I don't think Anelka style fits the Calcio

He'll be at best a role player from the bench, anyway.

I've never heard about Anelka being linked to Juventus. Malouda yes, Didier Deschamps wants him. But we already have Pavel Nedved on the left and Mauro Camoranesi on the right...

yeah he got a great potential.. positive thing he said" he has to stay at least one more year at Marseille to improve, be consistent coz leaving for a foreign team would be a suicid"...

Every Scottish trophy ended up with green & white ribbons around it come the end of the season, hopefully Scott Brown will help to continue that trend.

totally disagree on sissoko, the guys passing is atrocious. He will make plenty of tackles but he will give away probably more fouls. To be fair to him he is only young and can still improve.

its beyond a joke, thers talk of noe benji in talks, but ti think thts just rumours

killen is a great player, our season went downhill after he got injured at aberdeen, holds the ball up well, invites other players to run off him and scores goals, head, left foot , right foot, in the spl he'll get u 20 goals, champions league him or mcdonald are not good enough, Hesselink really is the only one with CL quality, celtics midfield will be the shit next season if they bring in another central midfield player ie koumas

I think Mac 10 should definitely be a co-mod.

I would say one reason I shouldn't be one is because I really only follow one sport. But that seems to be the same case for Nik. He doesn't appear to be much of a American Football or a Baseball fan (or anything else) really.

It's quietly frustrating only having one mod in Sports. :(

I think Mac 10 should definitely be a co-mod.

+1 for the support.

It makes sense to me as basketball and soccer are the two most discussed sports on here, so one mod for each seems to be the best solution.

That's the way I see it. I'm guessing there is a reason for it but I certainly don't know what it is.

Anybody know about Huntelaar going to Juventus???  ???

They're trying to resign David Trezeguet, plus they acquired Vincenzo Iaquinta for the bench. If Trezeguet doesn't resign i think Juventus will get one between Gilardino and Huntelaar. But resigning Trezeguet is the priority.

How the fuck can Bayern get all this money 2 spend when they dint even make the CL?

Bayern didn't spend much throughout the last years, their manager Hoeneß openly stated that they won't participate in that big money shit Chelsea, Real and other big teams got into. So they basically saved a lot of money. Now that this season was horrible, only finishing 4th in the national league, playing bad football and shit, the shotcallers got fed up and decided to tear the team apart and rebuild. That's why money players leave this summer, and many expensive, good players get signed. This is the beginning of a new era  :)

The roster is pretty sick now, now it's just a matter of how things work out.

Keeper: Kahn, Rensing
Defense: Lucio, Van Buyten, Ismael, Boularouz, Demichelis
Defense wings: Lahm, Sagnol, Jansen
Midfield: Ribery, Van Bommel, Ernesto Sosa, Schweinsteiger, Zé Roberto, Ottl
Strikers: Toni, Klose, Podolski, Schlaudraff

Yup better player technically as Barton has never really lived up to expectations.

Plus Parker focuses on his football first. Same can't be said for Barton.

I think it would be in everyone's interest to at least make this a sticky.

Or we could try it the other way with 30 threads a day?

Weezy your right, there are huge problems with racism in football stadiums in Spain and also in other European countries such as Italy but what you have to appreciate it is that the ESPN link you have posted is ignorant in part but 99% true.

For example the guys says, 'What is taboo in the US simply isn't in Europe'? No offence but what are the KKK? Are you trying to tell me there are no racists or far right groups in America? You have to be careful when generalising such as you did there when name-dropping Germans and Norwegians because not all of these people are racists, far from it.

The problem with racism in European football is there because as Blatter says the authorities in each country has not done their homework, ie. not being doing their jobs properly and now FIFA the group which they are all held responsible to is being forced to act.

The fines/penalties the guilty clubs get are also laughable in comparison to what they make (ie. clubs only get fined 1000 dollars or something when they are making tens of millions per annum) and also needs to be addressed. Even in countires such as Scotland (UK) where racism is nowhere near as bad as it gets in Spanish games we still have sectarian problems where fans of some clubs openly sing songs at football stadiums about killing Catholics and wading up to their knees in their blood.

The Scottish Football Association has slept on this for decades refusing to fine clubs or dock them points saying it's the governments problem not footballs but now FIFA's new legislation should hopefully force them to act.

This is the same for racist chanting in Spain and other clubs in Europe, they have said it's not the sport officials duty but the problem of the government to solve but we shall see how 2007/08 pans out with the new rules.

what you have to understand is that the european football fan culture is naturally more decadent than the fan culture of most other sports. fans are just more lose, doing more stupid shit near and around games than any other group of fans. shit, they have thrown more bananas at blondy oliver kahn than any african player could ever dream of.

Villarreal made sense, he was already in Spain, they had a strong Argentine contigent and the language is the same. They were a club on the up and he saw an opportunity to prove himself.

If he did come to England it would be playing for one of the more technical teams, rather than a more direct team such as Everton. On current ability to attract players Everton are probably seventh and you have to figure in that they are not a team that is well known in South America, mainly because of the lack of players from that area that have been at the club. I just can't see it happening at all, just some ridiculous paper talk.

No need to get angry, it's a genuine question I believe.

I think K.Dub is just curious as to why you chose to say Norwegians when as you know there are alot of nationalities and countries that make up Europe, some with alot worse problems with racism in sport than Norway.

Is there a specific incident or an ESPN report for example you seen that brought racist, Norwegian football fans to your attention or something in the past?

Ben Haim Bolton To Chelsea

Chelsea have completed the capture of Bolton defender Tal Ben Haim on a free transfer.

Ben Haim has put pen-to-paper on a four-year deal with Jose Mourinho's men after passing a medical at Stamford Bridge on Thursday.

The Israel international saw out his contract with The Trotters and has now finally completed a long-awaited move to The Blues.

Chelsea were keen to land the former Maccabi Tel Aviv man in the January transfer window but the switch collapsed.

Sammy Lee had hoped to hold onto Ben Haim for his first full season in charge of Bolton but the versatile stopper has opted for pastures new.

Former manager Sam Allardyce also wanted the 25-year-old but admitted defeat after learning he was in West London for talks.

Ben Haim has now wrapped up his transfer to Chelsea and has committed to the club on a contract until June 2011.

He will link up with the rest of Mourinho's squad for their pre-season tour of the United States next month.

Ben Haim becomes Chelsea third summer signing after striker Claudio Pizarro, who joins from Bayern Munich, and Reading midfielder Steven Sidwell.

Treze? He scored 140 goals for us, he's the best non-italian player in goals, ever. And we're talking about Juventus, a top-class team.
He's not spectacular (let's say it: he's boring), but he scores.

Anyway it looks like he could stay in Turin.

Cheers Antonio for the Juve news.

Juventus just acquired Antonio Nocerino (U21) and Christian Molinaro from Siena. Plus other young players. Roma acquired Pizarro. There are a lot of movements happened today: between today and tomorrow every player co-owned should be owned by just one team, so tons of movements will happens. I'll keep you posted.

Quote
What do you make of AC stealing Suazo from under Inter's noses?

Actually Suazo haven't signed the contract yet. It's been a very strange situation. Cellino (Cagliari boss) traded him to Inter for 11 mln and two players. Suazo signed a contract with Inter too. But at the last moment, since Inter was taking time, Cellino sold him to AC Milan. A perfect steal, by Milan. Only problem is Suazo has singed just one contract: the one with Inter. And now he's in vacation. So it's still everything about to be decided. The team (Cagliari) officially sold him to AC Milan, but the player signed a contract with Inter. Fucked up situation. Milan stole him.

Quote

There's a topic about them two. Check it.

I notice Quagliarella was bought out of the joint ownership by Udinese and his agent is expecting him to stay there for next season. Hopefully Antonio will make his way in here to list all the Italian joint ownerships that are now singularly owned.

Yeah we're going all out for it  ;D actually think that DaMarcus Beasley will be a decent signing

Think that Donati will be a good signing?

Not exactly the 'blue chip' player that Peter Lawell was talking about is he, even Brocchi got a game at Milan before him

they will rule the Bundesliga again, but they don't have the best team in the world. Teams like Barca, Milan, ManU and Chelsea still have a better roster than Bayern. They'll have a chance in the champions
league, but they don't have even one of the 5 best teams in the world.
Nevertheless I think the Management of Bayern sucks these days. They paid too much, I mean Ribery's cool but Toni is 29 and earns 5,5 mil a year. Bremen spent 5 mil for Diego, HSV about 10 for Van der Vaart. And Bayern spents 22 millions for Ribery and 15-17 million per year for a player from south america who doesn't blow up... Jansen is cool, but they just survive because they're still dominat in the Bundesliga and therefore can rob teams like Leverkusen and Bremen, but international they're not an adress anymore .They spent over 60 mil on (good) players this year, but they still don't have a leader, and
that they resign Hitzfeld and Ze Roberto shows that they're desperate and not creative enough. And they're wastin' their talented goalkeeper because they're scared of replacin' the washed up Kahn.

 Werder's Management>>> FCB's Management

Yeah first there was talk of him going to Feyenoord last week, then both parties involved denied it and there hasn't been any news update on it, so i figured the deal was off the table. I'm kinda surprised Van Bronckhorst, Hofland and Makaay signed with Feyenoord, they must see some future in it in that case, i doubt they do it just for the money on their age.

I think Feyenoord has the best team right now in Holland. Curious what Ajax, Az and PSV will do to counter them, cause it has been real quiet around these clubs lately, only thing i heard is AZ signing that Brazilian talent Ari.

Smith is a player the fans will really like just because of the commitment he shows.

Richardson could become a good player if he played more reguarly but that aint going to happen at united.

Anyone hazard a guess at Newcastle's starting XI for next season?  ???

Upfront - Martins, Owen, Viduka, Luque, Ameobi.

Midfield - Dyer, Barton, Emre, Duff, Solano, Milner, Butt, N'Zogbia, Geremi.

What 2 forwards and 4 midfielders would you go with if Alladyce was to go with a 4-4-2?

Anyone hazard a guess at Newcastle's starting XI for next season?  ???

Upfront - Martins, Owen, Viduka, Luque, Ameobi.

Midfield - Dyer, Barton, Emre, Duff, Solano, Milner, Butt, N'Zogbia, Geremi.

What 2 forwards and 4 midfielders would you go with if Alladyce was to go with a 4-4-2?

so much quality here damn i think big sam will get the best out of luque otherwise he would have let him go id go for martins owen up front the pace of the two will be electric lol
duff  left emre and geremi middle and milner on the right im a fan of emre dude is quality hasnt shown all of it so far geremi will sit and let emre create maybe butt on last season form instead of geremi

nzog bia is a great player in a few years a big club will try coming in for him i know it im not a fan of barton overrated so much scott parker was better than all of these midfielders and big sam let him go  ???

Eh? Ashton is a different level to Harewood, who sometimes look likes he should be playing non-league football.
Reginaldo signed for Parma via Fiorentina, and we're still chasing Rossi if Ferguson nets Tevez, fee of around 10m euro's.

yeah arsene would have got the best out of him no doubt im not a fan of rotation like benitez does still cant see liverpool winning the league even though thats probaly the best strike force imo id go for torres and kuyt

on another  note i think this season is gonna be the best ever cos of all the spending shit even fulham have splashed out and wigan boltan have made some 7 signings :o pompey were good last season and  theve brought in 2 quality strikers to what was a good attack last season worried a bit about villa and the newly promoted clubs man city need  some proven premiership players as middlesborough need a few more attackers viduka was a big loss anyway  i think this season is gonna be so good and close all through the table and will show why the primiership is the place to be

LMAO at Vieri moving AGAIN, this guy must be a multi multi millionaire on signing fees alone, you would think he'd donate it 2 the youth system or something.

Naw, i don't think THIS TIME he's doing it for the money. I mean last year in Atalanta (the team where he approached Serie A for the first time) he started being injured and it took half the season for him to recover. But he went there just to do a good training with other teammates, as he was getting paid just 100.000 € per season. Nothing.

This year he moved to Fiorentina which is a team who wants to reach the 4th spot available for the Champions League, and who traded Toni to Bayern Munchen. They already have a starter in the young U21 Pazzini, so Vieri will help him from the bench, you know. And he's getting 1.000.000 € per year, 1 year contract. So not much.

It looks genuiine THIS TIME.

What you on about Jordan, our central midfield may be a tad congested, but we are crying out for a left winger. It seems like the lure of more money + Sven was enough to get Petrov to go to Man City rather than us.

We're starting to run out of options for a left winger now.

Well Routledge can play there and Steed can't really so I see your point. A good quality natural left-winger is what tottenham need.

Really good move for Villarreal on Rossi. Don't think he was physically big enough for the Premiership but he will do really well in Spain, and considering the other parties interested it is somewhat of a coup for them.

Yeah, I'm quite disappointed too, but I think he would have had the same role as before...and later he would have wanted to go anyway if things would not change....

Edit : We have a clause that we can buy him back....so that's good news....

We just suck. We have no money, but every other club in the Prem seems to. We have to sell to buy and it looks like we are trying to sell Beattie to Sheff United in order to make a bid for Smith, who now looks like he is definetly going to Newcastle, where no doubt he will become a shit player and end up leaving in a few years. It sucks. I just hope we can maybe sign another one or two before the deadline. Baines and someone else, a striker!

From manutd.com

The Reds have finally completed the transfer of Carlos Tevez after the Premier League registered the striker as United player.

A club spokesman told ManUtd.com: "Manchester United is delighted announce that Carlos Tevez has been registered as a member of its first-team squad by the Premier League."

The 23-year-old striker, who will wear the No.32 shirt, is now eligible to play for Reds and could take part in Sunday's season opener against Reading, but Sir Alex Ferguson said on Friday morning that he will not use the Argentina international in the match.

Instead, the former West Ham forward, who has been training with United recently, is likely to make his debut against Manchester City a week on Sunday.

“Carlos surprised us in the training sessions last week,” Sir Alex said. “After the Copa America, and with only a short holiday, I thought he might need more training. But he did very well and looked in great shape.

“He’s likely to be involved the following week against Manchester City. But it’s difficult to assess what part he'll play because if you put somebody into a derby game, you have to make sure they’re spot on. It’s not a game in which you get time. It’s always frenetic against your local rivals. We’ll measure it. Once we get clearance and we know he can play, we can make the decision quite easily.”

No I think it boils down to a whole host of things including,

Climate
Family
Money
Valencia << Everton as you said
&
Champs league football

Never the less I think it was a shitbag move by Fernandes and definetly not a move for the one thing he should be looking for; football. All he is going to do is awarm the bench at Valencia and I bet in a season or two he will regret not coming to Everton. Everton are a big club in our own right and we dont need players like him. He was training with our squad last week while all the paper work was sorted out. Everton have been nothing but professional with the deal but obviously he and his advisors are money grabbing cunts. You should not give your word you will sign for somebody and then pull out with a week left for the club to try and sort something out. Absolute disrespect. I want Everton fans to destroy his name at every home match!!!

Now we are being linked with Riquelme and Nolan!

Whilst it is deciteful that he has gone behind Everton's back and signed for Valencia, it is clearly a footballing move and I doubt will have been influenced by money.

Spain is much closer culturally to Portugal, and physically to visit his family, plus Valencia can offer him Champions League football which Everton can't. It is a no brainer really, although he could have made the move in better circumstances.

I think that with Albelda and Baraja advancing in years, there may well be a real chance for him to cement a place in the team, if not this season then definitely next.

It was. Everton offered 6million up front to Benfica, and then over a extended period of time we would pay another 6million to the sport company who owned 50% of the player. But Valencia came in with a 12million up front offer and the sport company still hold 50% of the player, therefore the sport company (agents) have made a huge amount of money. Fernandes himself is probably on more wages at Valencia. Put it this way he could of said, 'you know what I would of loved to of played for you but I have agreed terms with Everton'. Its always about the money. Why you think so many players have gone to West Ham this season. Money!!!

I'm not arguing that money has become a large motivation behind certain players moving to lesser clubs, such as the West Ham example you raised. In this case, whether or not he is being paid more money at Valencia, the advantages of them over Everton would have meant that even if he was to be paid less, Valencia was a better move for him.

true that, i think the issue is the way fernades agreed to join everton and then changed his mind at the last min.

We had a pen claim to. Sounds like you did ok on the radio. I think we was always going to win it though. I was confident we would score another and win even with like 5 minutes left. My mate watched it and said we played really well so.
