i heard dre was only involved with the drum machine on that track. i always though dre was a genius for doing that piano beat but now i'm hearing it was scott storch?
-
storch did it
-
Storch. I doubt Dre just did the drums he probably structured the song and added other affects to the beat.
-
This is why it's important to read the production notes that come with store bought albums... some production would surprise people, not even talking just about Aftermath.
-
yep i think in fact he played keys on most of the songs on the album...check the credits

Scott Storch is credited on the track credits so it's Cool!!
-
Storch is a BEAST on the keys, dude can make a dope drum pattern to save his life though...
-
^he aint nothin but a piano man, timbo is right haha
-
Yep Scott on the piano, and Lyrics by Jay z!!
-

Timbo got some serious help from Danja... Danja solo beats are nearer (quality wise) from Timbo ones than Storch solo beats comparing to Dre ones... People always blame Dre for that, I don't know why Timbo gets a pass...
-
and in my opinion its better to be a Musician (Scott storch) than a beat maker (Timbaland)

i thought that the piano on Still D.R.E. used a sample from Maybe Tomorrow by Grant Green. anyone confirms ?

they don't always have to write it in the booklet... it all depends on the deal you do with whoever's got the right to the sample.

Murder Ink is definately taken from Halloween soundtrack
Also add to the list:
- The Intro, obviously samples the THX Theatre opening
- Big Egos - Can't remember the name, but I got the original track
- What's the Difference - Replaying Charles Aznavour
- Ed-Ucation - Another dope sample by Aznavour
- Let's Get High - In which Dre was sued for not giving credit to the Fatback Band's 'Backstrokin'
Dre's got amazing taste in music
-
Still D.R.E. is a dope song, BUT the piano is not really hard to play, is it?

Na it ain't... I seen Storch playin' it in an interview demonstratin' all the hits he made that people may have not realized.

I'm Sure Dre would have done it himself...but why when there is a Piano player out there, that would do a better Job!!
afterall thats why there are pple out there that Play instrumnets....thats just my way of seeing it!!
if sumbody is Good at something, then if it's cool with them get them to play a few tunes for you..
I think Muisc creation should be fun, not frustrating..
Just my two cents..not a diss to nobody, just my own thoughts on the said subject
