I've been listening to Under Ground Kings thoroughly the last couple weeks. Bun is so damn tight on every track, and I think back about how long he's been in the game. He kills every guest appearance he has, and kills every performance on their album.
So my question is this - Where does Bun rank among the great MC's of the South? Top 10? Top 5? Top 20?
The south has been home to some phenomenal mc's / rappers, so even being top 10 would be an accomplishment, even though nowadays it seems like only the most ignorant no talent motherfuckers get airplay...
Scarface to me is the South's G.O.A.T. You gotta also think about dudes like Andre, Willie D, MJG, Cee lo, Luda, etc.
So where does Bun rank?

Right now Bun is top spot in the South as far as emceeing goes. Nobody is fucking with him. T.I., Weezy and Chamillionaire are next in line.
All time, Bun is top 3. Face, Bun and MJG epitomize Southern emcees to a T. They are the basis for damn near any Southern rapper right now.

Bun B is definantly up there with the best of them, i dont know about him being number 1 but he is in the top 3 at least.

Now, riding high off their success, Bun B is preparing to release his second solo LP, 2 Trill. The LP will be the follow up to Bun’s 2005 gold debut, Trill. “Right now, I’m working on my new album, 2 Trill, the follow up to my Trill album on Rap-A-Lot/Asylum [Records],” Bun tells XXLMag.com. “It’s going to be coming very possibly later this year. We’re already in the works. We’re ready to drop a single, but the UGK momentum is still kinda big. So you don’t wanna step on your own toes. But I got my album cocked and ready to go.”
