Seventeen-year-old rap phenom Soulja Boy Tell’em is being heard loud and clear on phones across America as "Crank That (Soulja Boy)" has become the #1 Master Tone in the country--#1 on AT&T, Verizon and Sprint, #3 on T-Mobile. The digital single has also shot to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 (issue date September 15) and, of course, is #1 Digital as well.
"It feels good to be #1," said Soulja Boy Tell’em, who also wrote and produced the song. "Now I’m ready to make the album do the same thing!" His debut album will be released October 2, 2007.
During just this last week more than 186,000 ringtones of "Crank That (Soulja Boy)" were sold, bringing its total to more than 600,000. For each of the past three weeks, the song’s sales have risen 40+ percent over the previous week.
"From the day Mr. Collipark introduced me to Soulja Boy Tell’em, I knew we had someone and something special. Most of the time these super reactive records are about one-hit wonders, but Soulja Boy is on the scene to stay," said Interscope A&R rep DJ Mormile.

I've never been one to "hate" on somebody's success or whatever...and I realize that everybody has different tastes...but this is one song that I've damn near been "against" because I think it's just completely garbage. I know we've heard a lot of wack songs in the last few years...but the fact that this song has become so major, primarily because of the dance, is still shocking to me.
Bad thing is, people know it sucks...but if you say you don't like it, they try to play you like "you don't know what's hot"...and I'm like you know what? Maybe you're right...because what's "hot" tends to suck ass...

hurricane chris can actually rap though. if you listen to his louisi-animal mixtape, hes got a twista/bone thug type of flow.
but either way, "Crank that" fuckin blows.

Most of the time these super reactive records are about one-hit wonders, but Soulja Boy is on the scene to stay,
I highly doubt that he'll have a foothold in rap game for no longer than fifteen minutes. He'll just end up releasing a weak album, selling only a couple of hundred units, and then be forgotten just like MIMS and Rich Boy.

that new Rich Boy track is pretty coo tho..
Aqua Man That Hoe >>>>>>> Crank That

every one of these rappers with a big ringtone song say yea but u know the album got all kinds of songs im diverse and all this and then guess what...they flop and are never heard of again. on a business side someone shuld jus make a whole album with one weird dance or ringtone song from a southern artist and it would be considered a classic ;D except from ppl like us...seriously we all know he aint got no other type of songs and he gonna be gone in 15 minutes

we've overcome Ice Ice Baby, Good Vibrations, I've Got The Power in the past... but Chain Hang Low, Ay Bay Bay, and Crank That is going to be the death of us..
