And that's without a single or any promotion, released independently.
Radiohead - In Rainbows came out on the 10th and is available for download on their webisite. This album surpassed my expectations by a mile, i can't get this music out of my head the little time that i'm actually not listening to it. This is the first time popular musicians put their music up for free download. While they're accepting donations, this move just means that they're marketing their music by making it accessible, fuck advertising and flashy videos. On top of that, this is hands down the best album of this year, and possibly their most solid album to date. Get it.

yea I heard some bands or whatever are thinking about that....
in hopes of making money off touring and such things
-
That is truly amazing. Especially after the project being confirmed 7-8 days before the actual release date.
Album is way way better than I expected too being a free album and everything.
-
So how did they "sell" 1.2 million if it's free? Props to them though, I'll check it out.
-
That's crazy! I gotta check out the album

Good point, but there is a way to pay for the CD's. You can donate money, any amount you want, if u want. That way, people will be paying for the album if they really like the album or wanna support the artist. Get this album, free or not

Maybe cuz that's cuz you have Chamillionaire on your playlist. Give Radiohead a chance, and i didn't mean to be offensive by that comment, but it just shows that you have a limited taste in music

You should check out The Bends or OK Computer first, it might be too hard to get into the new album if you're a first time Radiohead listener.

ehhh someone at work played the new Radiohead album. I heard about 5 or 6 songs, I liked one of the tracks but the rest were trash. I dont get the hype.

Radiohead's music isn't shit you can just digest by listening once. You gotta be patient and the music will hit you.

^^ Yeah someone else told me that also.
