I do know Nas and Cham had that fair share of following the trend.
It's just that nowadays, when everything sounds the same and every rapper is complaining about the rap game and how hip hop is dead, there are very few that actually do something about it. Thats why I named Cham and Nasir for example.
And it's not that I don't like T-Pain, unlike several others, I like most of his joints. But I don't wanna hear Snoop doing the same thing. Why not go political, some social themes and some dope ass storytelling. Like Bishop Lamont said in that Dubcnn interview, Snoop got a gang of dope, lyricall, concious songs but doesn't want to release them. True. the 2nd half of that album was all over the place. Not sure why you put Westurn Union on that list but to each his own. As for the track, I am not surprised, look at the numbers. R&G- almost double platinum, BCT- platinum. Snoop made more money doing the R&G thing. Translation- the fans get more R&G tracks and less gangsta. He hinted at it in interviews so I thought if BCT did not do the numbers, he would go back to this. Not bad, the beat is DOPE.

I think his thing these days is to keep reinventing himself to stay relevant longer in modern day music. I mean, it's been what 15 years since dude stepped on the scene? That's a long time... He has to keep trying new things to stay fresh... some of them will work and some of them will not.
However, you have to realize something too... Snoop listens to old music, he's into The Stylistics, The Spinners, Marvin Gaye, Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, etc... He's an older dude too (not too old), but likes a very diverse range of music. So, for him to ONLY be spitting gangster rap music would be unrealistic.
It's like I said though man, it doesn't make the song a banger, it's just accept it for what it is and just check out the rest of the album, there's sure to be something your feeling on it.
