Do some of the biggest albums of the year in curtis & american gangster have a shitty quality of the album leak quite a while before the album comes out, and then the grouprip doesn't come for sooo long when most grouprip's are out at least 5-6 days before album release :-\
shitty ass webrip been out for a while, and grouprip still ain't...i d.l the webrip, the quality wasn't 2 bad, i might have 2 settle for today :D

Maybe with their money somehow they have better control of their albums not leaking.

i use 2 think so as well, but i've recently been listening to his discography & i'm DAMN impressed :o
guess just one of those artists that some will think he deserves all the success he's had & more, and others don't see the hype

I have my opinions on Jay-Z but i'm kind of anticipating this since its influenced by the movie and hes sticking with that concept for the album.

I'd be lying if I said Blueprint and Black album weren't solid but solid s as far as I would take it. Reasonable Doubt...I have to admit...If not for the 3 or 4 whack/filler songs, would be in the same league as (but still below) Illmatic.
But I separate the art from the artist. I don't like Jay from what I know about him, but I love RD

im'a be dropping a big ass thread on jay & his discography soon..i went in to his albums not hearing nothing besides the singles from most, and of course word of mouth for each album...Black album is amazing, but i gotta say blueprint is not a classic (IMO)...the middle gets boring as fuck (any cd with a song as bad as girls girls girls aint no classic lol) jigga that n*gga, hola hovito, and u dont know are also pretty average
his 1st 2 are classics, and black album is a near-classic..i gotta say, i think i'd even put his 4th in front of the blueprint

they spend more money on security on the cd and security for when the album is pressed up to stop any leaking of the album as much as possible, to get more sales
even though Jay will buy another 600k copies of this album to get him platinum

The thing about jay is i've always felt he was massively overrated and that nas was underrated, duno why but its always appeared to me as if people blew jays music up simply because they wanted a king of new york and jays always been more marketable than nas (nas cant make BIG club tunes, jay can), and it must be said RD is a sick ass album but theres average joints on it which in my opinion stop it from being a classic, i agree with Lun that the Blueprint is overrated, its boring as fuck and theres wack joints (i'm not hating, im a massive nas fan and think Stillmatic is overrated) and the Black album is sick.....but ive always felt that wen you consider the big 4 of Pac, Big, Nas and supposedly Jay, ive always felt that Jay is only considered the GOAT because hes achieved so much (£ wise) and because hes still going strong, but i dont see how any of these relate to him being the GOAT ??? His Discopgraphy is average apart from RD and TBA, im not saying its wack, it shits over other rap discographies but i dont think u can compare Jay to Pac, Nas or Big, Call me a hater but its my opinion......

There are TONS of remixes made with the acapellas of that album. Someone should open a thread for that, so every single Remixed Black Album can be posted there.

Reasonable Doubt - Classic
Vol. 1 - Pretty solid but has a couple of fillers
Vol. 2 - Awesome album imo but some don't agree. It probably got the most plays out of me.
Vol. 3 - Pretty weak. Only could listen to half of the album
Dynasty - Little bit better than Vol.3. The production is solid but Jay's rhymes were pretty tiring.
The Blueprint - Classic as far as production goes. If it wasn't for Jay on some tracks, I could listen to that album front to back.
The Blueprint 2 - Pretty average for the time period it came out. Tons of fillers but alot of dope tracks too.
The Black Album - Classic
Kingdom Come - Probably would have been good if it wasn't rushed. With such a dope producers and guest features, it didn't live up to half of my expectations.

No the retail is obviously the retail album lol, but the grouprip i think is wen a ripping group rips the songs together so that they are all of the same quality, and wen u put it in iTunes they are in order lol, thats how i define grouprip neway lol Non grouprips tend to vary in quality....

Well, the quality of an mp3 is never better than the quality of the source (usually cd or vynil) it's ripped from. Mp3groups have better software than you do to rip mp3s with.
