Title: GSW Hoops
Post by: Bay Area Jat on November 29, 2007, 10:03:45 AM
After dropping the first 6 games the Warriors have won 7 of the last 8 games. they are currently sitting in the thick of things in the pacific division and climbing. They play Houston tonight in a huge game. Just a lil update for the Warriors haters

They're goin' down tonight...Monta has been playing out of his head on the offensive end, but I'll be very surprised if it lasts.

Lmao the Warriors would've lost last year had they played any other team. I give them credit. All bullshiet aside I like the Warriors but they're not that good. They're not a real playoff team and they're not gonna do shiet this year.

I'm not sure how this is related to the Warriors.
But...for all the haters that loved the horrible start this year and started to get cocky, just worry about your own teams making the playoffs, because the Warriors will be there this year and I can start to get used to going to these playoff games haha.

^^^^ Orlando is a better team than Boston at least right now ... the Celtics had probably the easiest schedule of the NBA .. Orlando played twice more games away (11-2) and they won in NO, LA and GS ... I watched like 5-6 Celtics game , trust me this team is overrated

dont know why monta had to take the long contestant 3.  if anything drive to the hoop, get fouled, or dish out when the defenders collapse.

Very good points. This game should not have gone into OT. Jackson was on fire in the 2nd half he should have had the ball in his hands at the end

Yeah that was disappointing, but they will get back on it. Jackson has been so valuable since coming off his suspension, and this team is looking good with a deeper bench than they had last year.

I always amazed how poorly most of NBA teams execute the last possession of a closed game .. most of them seem like they don't know what different options they have..  it's not difficult to take a timeout and establish the different options regarding how the opposite defense will adjust .. but no most of the teams throw the ball in somebody hands and pray the god the player will hit a 30 feet fadeaway jumper after 5 fakes  ::), that's pathetic

i dont know why jackson and monta were standing so near to each other.  if any body, we now azubike is capable of making game winners...monta will learn from this, he just needs to make the pass when NEEDED.

tomorow should be fun...hopefully they drive and get fouls...cause you know the old ass centers can no way keep with ANYBODY from the Warriors excpet fro Mbenga if hes penciled in.  (which i doubt.)

Warrior World: Crazy, beautiful and dangerous basketball

OAKLAND -- Think about what life would be like if the world operated under the same principles as the Golden State Warriors. Hot fudge sundaes would be nutritious and help you lose weight. Whale-sized sport-utility vehicles would get 50 miles per gallon. "I Love New York" would be up for an Emmy.

The thing about the Warriors is they make no sense. Basketball at the professional level isn't supposed to work this way. In the mixed-up Warrior World, one-on-four pull-up jump shots are encouraged, not punished; a player who has been suspended six times is a source of inspiration and stability; and guys called Mully and Nellie are considered the masterminds of the operation.

The same blueprint that created the greatest playoff upset in NBA history has been rolled out again, and it has turned the Warriors into one of the league's hottest teams. They are the single greatest argument for ordering League Pass (and, for you East Coasters, picking up a case of Red Bull).

Don Nelson

Jesse D. Garrabrant/Getty Images)

In Nellie's system, players don't have to worry about making the shot -- they can just fire away.
If you've been watching them, you've seen the most entertaining squad in the league. And maybe you have come to the same realization I have: There's nothing you can do to stop their style. You know how you don't want to fight a crazy guy, because you don't know what he is going to do? The same thought applies here. If the Warriors are going to shoot the first 25-footer they see, is there really any way to defend against it?

Take general manager Chris Mullin's explanation for how small ball can work.

On defense, "They can throw it in the post, we can go double and get it out of that guy's hands," Mullin said.

But at the other end, with a bunch of small players spreading the floor …

"If you're a big guy, what do you do?" Mullin said. "You're going to come get me, then you're leaving somebody open by the basket."

Spend enough time around these guys, and it starts to make sense.

"It's a lot more organized than what it seems," Baron Davis said.

It starts with rule No. 1 from coach Don Nelson: Shoot the ball.

"He actually said, 'Don't worry about making it,'" Austin Croshere said. "You have to take that shot in order to get the defense to extend to open things up. It's within certain parts of our offense. To get the ball into the corner, you have to get that guy out there."

With an open floor, Davis or Stephen Jackson or Monta Ellis can drive by his man and get to the hoop. Andris Biedrins has room to score inside. He's not much of a true low-post option, so their inside-out game can come from the guard's penetration. They can suck in defenders and throw it back out for another 3-pointer -- the Warriors attempt a league-high 27 per game.

On Monday night against the Orlando Magic, Jackson took at least three shots that would get him benched on most squads. Warriors in transition, defenders back, no teammates inside the 3-point arc -- and Jackson just launched. No repercussions at all. Not even a dirty look.

"It's like playing at the YMCA," Jackson said. "You play your best game when you're not looking over your shoulder."

The guys on my team know that, the best player on their team, I'm going to make him work.

-- Jackson

I asked Nelson what he considers a bad shot. "One that doesn't go in," he said.

"What you see is a lot of freedom," Davis said. "You see everybody has an opportunity to be themselves.

"You come to this team, there's two things you're going to do: You're going to play hard, and you're going to have fun. That's what we do, and it shows out there on the floor."

They're having fun in the stands, too. The Warriors always provide one of the best arena experiences in the league, with a live band playing mellow Mary J. Blige and Michael Jackson tunes before tipoff, good tunes mixed in during the game and fans who do their part by cheering the hustle plays just as loudly as the big dunks.

And now the product matches the production. Mullin has done a good job of shedding the long-term, expensive contracts of Mike Dunleavy, Derek Fisher and Troy Murphy, while getting the right mix of players for this system, including guys who were unwanted or unsuccessful elsewhere. Matt Barnes' scoring average doubled last season, his first with the Warriors. Jackson got a fresh start after a tenure with the Indiana Pacers that was most notable for his throwing punches in the stands at the Palace of Auburn Hills and firing shots in the air after an altercation at a strip club.

Stephen Jackson

Rocky Widner/Getty Images

The Warriors are a much better team when Jackson is on the court.
Jackson is proof nothing -- not prime real estate, not precious metals -- appreciates in value like a championship ring for a player who moves on. On the next team, that ring will translate into either an overpriced contract or Godfather-level respect. When the Warriors signed Derek Fisher for $36 million over six years in 2004, it was an example of the former. Jackson is an example of the latter. He was the biggest question mark on the San Antonio Spurs' championship squad in 2003. You never knew if you would get a 3-pointer or a turnover from him.

With the Warriors, he's a source of inspiration. He plays with confidence, and it spreads.

"The guys on my team know that, the best player on their team, I'm going to make him work," Jackson said.

The Warriors were 1-6 while he served a seven-game suspension for the shooting incident. Since he returned, they're 9-2. Going back to the end of last season, the Warriors have won 25 of their past 32 regular-season games in which Jackson has played.

The key phrase there is "regular season." As dramatic as their first-round victory over the top-seeded Dallas Mavericks was, the Utah Jazz's disciplined approach won out in the Western Conference semifinals. The Phoenix Suns are the only team playing a style similar to that of the Warriors, and their Steve Nash-led group hasn't reached the NBA Finals. No team coached by Nelson has, either.

Everyone's waiting for the percentages to catch up with the Warriors. Take enough outside shots, and eventually, you'll miss the majority of them. Go with a small lineup, and you'll sacrifice rebounds. Last year's magical run almost didn't happen; the Warriors didn't clinch a playoff spot until the last game of the season.

"We were an eighth seed," Mullin said. "But if we get in, we're dangerous."

They're the crazy guys. You don't take them that seriously at first. But you don't really want to mess with them.

We gave this game away , terrible coaching by Phil , terrible shot selection by Kobe .. it's amazing how we constantly refuse to feed Andrew down low  :-X.. the Warriors execute VERY poorly in the last minutes of the game (don't fool yourself , outside Davis clutch plays , they had stupid turnovers) and we still managed to loss ..  :-X

So much for Kobe becoming more mature and a better player in his 30s and also so much for the Warriors can't beat the Lakers. Duh.

I agree, the Warriors are most exciting team to watch.  I watched the 2nd half of the game last night and was lovin it.  GSW's arena really reminds me of a college arena - true fans in the crowds, not a bunch of corporate assholes.  They live and die w/ every possession.  BD is a bad motherfucker too.

I haven't watched the Lakers much this year, but in what I have seen, Farmar is the truth and Bynum is really starting to tap in to his potential (keep in mind I don't watch them on the regular, so yall are prolly like "no shit").  They might get out of the 1st round this year, but nothin more.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Golden State weathered an early Memphis offensive flurry and a late rally to turn back the Grizzlies.

Stephen Jackson had 28 points and 12 rebounds, and Monta Ellis added 23 points to help Golden State end a three-game road losing streak with a 125-117 victory over Memphis on Monday night.

The victory overshadowed 32 points from Memphis forward Rudy Gay, the second consecutive game in which he has surpassed 30. Memphis lost its fifth straight at home despite missing only one of its first 10 shots.

"It was a game of swings," Memphis coach Marc Iavaroni said. "We got the first punches in, and they came back with more punches and got more of them in."

Baron Davis finished with 22 points and eight assists, and Al Harrington added 17 points. Kelenna Azubuike scored 15 for Golden State.

Mike Miller finished with 20 points and seven assists for Memphis, while Kyle Lowry contributed 18 points. Juan Carlos Navarro scored 17 points, and Stromile Swift finished with 13.

The Warriors appeared in control as they maintained a double-digit advantage through the midway point of the fourth quarter. But Memphis began connecting from long range with a 3-pointer by Navarro, and a pair by Miller. Gay connected on two free throws to get Memphis within 113-107 with 3:07 left.

But Memphis was unable to get closer than five in the closing seconds.

"At the end of the game, we started clock-watching, and they started hitting shots," Jackson said of the Grizzlies' final spurt. "The only thing bad about this game was we didn't finish the game like we should have."

Golden State coach Don Nelson added: "We had a few letdowns in the fourth quarter, but other than that, the best team won."

The Grizzlies still were without leading rebounder and second-leading scorer Pau Gasol, who missed his third game with a jammed right big toe. Starting center Darko Milicic also aggravated a nagging left ankle injury and played less than nine minutes. The absence of the two 7-footers left the Grizzlies to go with a smaller lineup.

Memphis, which entered the fourth hitting only one of its 16 shots outside the arc, connected on 8-of-13 from long range in the final period to make it close down the stretch.

"We just couldn't find a way to stop them, and our 3s were ice cold," Iavaroni said. "When you spot them a lot of threes, even though you catch up in the last quarter with a flurry of them, you are playing catch up ball. We couldn't get enough stops at the end."

Most expected the game to be a high-scoring affair because the Warriors have the second-highest scoring average in the league and allow more points than anyone else. Memphis is among the top 10 scoring teams and surrenders more points than any other team except Golden State.

But when it was time to make stops, the Warriors executed down the stretch.

"With our style of play, we're going to give up a lot of points," Davis said. "But at the same time, we can knuckle down when it's time. We start getting in the passing lanes and start scrapping. That's our makeup."

they really need to stop trying to make JACK the slasher type scorer.  he should not be dribbling the ball up into traffic, he is way to venerable to commit a turnover.  make azubkie your 2nd 3rd option after bd, monta, and al.  Jack is a spot up shooter, who can play a good post game.  but he is not a slasher.  sorry.

I see your point Sanford, he does look sketchy a lot with his dribbling and going to the lane sometimes, but he finds a way to get it done. He really fits the whole unorthodox style they play with, and he has been huge since he came off his suspension. I would rather see Ellis or Azubuke slashing than Jackson, but Jackson has that determination and he makes things happen.

Actually he was one point short of his career high. He was left alone all night because of the Warriors zone defense. Its tough to run a zone on a jump shooting team. They just aint big enough to play man to man.

It turned out to be a horrible move, but I know why they did it. They needed more size in the front court, but needed to have a guy with length and quickness in order to fit in with their system. Wright up until about 2 weeks prior to the draft was widely considered the consensus #3 pick behind Oden and Durant and was supposed to be a Sheed type player without the 3 pt range, and an aggressive shot blocker. They had the right idea in bringing him in, but the wrong idea in shipping J Rich out to get him. I'm sure there were salary cap reasons as well as they were able to trade J Rich's sizable contract and only take back Wrights rookie scale contract since Charlotte was so far under the cap. Sucks though cause J Rich was the heart and soul of the Warriors long before baron Davis came to town.

Last night's game sucked, you can complain about the calls but Indiana shouldn't have even been in the game. As far as them not looking like a playoff team, they have kind of cooled off lately, but they still have a pretty good record, especially considering the 1-6 start without Jackson. And I can't complain about them trading J-Rich, he would not be happy if he was on the bench and Ellis and Azubuike have played great.

^^I think they wanted Monta to and that he deserves to, dude has been tearing it up. Azubuke wouldn't have started and has kind of quited and saw his minutes decrease, but he was a good surprise at the start of the season. Obviously, J Rich and Wright aren't even on the same planet right now, but he is a young prospect so maybe he will come along this year or later. Right now, Nelson seems pretty set on his lineup and who deserves to play, hopefully Wright can get into that rotation.

Yeah, I agree with you. Like I said, they wouldn't need to complain if they didn't blow that lead. Don Nelson talked about them getting revenge after the game, said something like "That's what we did to them, we got lucky the other day. They weren't lucky, they were just better than us." He never builds the hype up, it's funny to hear him talk. Fuck Dunleavy, he is having a good season now that he's not on our team, I can't stand him.

its all good homie i was waiting for your response cause i know u like me actually watched the game. this being said i know you saw the non call on either jackson or harrington on that 3 point attempt. also on that dunk from biedrins there was a foul that was not called. can't completely hate on the pacers cause they did come back from 15 or something like that in the 4th. they shot 7/12 from beyond the arc which is quite impressive. as for DANNY GRANGER hes a bitch for that cheap shot on sactowns finest matt barnes. lol dunleavy got hit though after that resulting in a flagrant. the refs fucked the warriors and im stickin to my story  8)

Sorry, but as of now, J-Rich>>>Monta Ellis. And I don't really think Nelson ever has a set rotation. Seems to me like he just plays dudes at random or based on the match-up/match-up problems he thinks he can create. I think he shoulda' kept Azubuike starting consistently.

I would say that they are about even, and J Rich has stepped his game up this year, so I can't blame the Warriors for trading J Rich even though I liked his game, because Monta deserved to start and they were trying to help the future. Nelson doesn't really set a rotation, but he pretty much has his starters and a couple other guys who get minutes, and sometimes lets someone get a chance to prove themselves, hopfully Wright gets in there. I think Azubuike should be getting a lot of minutes, but not starting. Who would he start over?

Also, good to see them win back-to-back games, I think they will win their next three and then it gets interesting.

I dont think so. Monta is very good, but he's only as good as an undersized 2 can be. J Rich was not only the more talented of the two, but also one of the most exciting finishers in the league, not to mention the heart and soul of the team. To me there's simply no comparison between the two. Hopefully Wright turns out to be everything predraft experts thought he would be when he was the consensus #3 projected pick in the draft.

That game was ugly, they really messed that one up down the stretch, but that is what they get for letting Minnesota hang with them. Only one loss, as bad as it was. Saying we are on Milwaukee's level even though we blew them out 2 games ago on their home court and have a way better record makes no sense. Also, everyone who is saying Monta is nowhere near J Rich's level needs to actually watch them play. Rich is having a great season with Charlotte, but he wasn't the same player last year. He was the leader of the Warriors for a couple years and a fan favorite, but that was before we brought in a new coach, new style, and a completely new roster. His shot selection wasn't very good last year, and Monta has proven that he deserves to play because of his aggressive style and he can play 1 or 2. We got love for J Rich and would have liked to keep both of them.

Monta is a liability as an undersized SG...J-Rich was ideal for your team. Monta shoulda' been kept as the back-up PG, with J-Rich, Azubuike, S-Jax, and even Pietrus handeling the 2. Just admit that your FO fucked up. I guarantee the Warriors would currently have a better record with a line-up of:

PG Baron Davis
SG Jason Richardson
SF Stephen Jackson
PF Al Harrington
C Andris Beidrins

There's no doubt in my mind.

As a back-up point-guard to Baron Davis, Ellis would be getting no minutes if all those other guys were playing the 2, and he has proven that he is more than just a starter in this league. The whole small line-up is a liability, but also creates a lot of opportunities, and that's what Nelson wants. I'll admit that the front office probably fucked up, like they have been doing for almost the last 15 years, but it's too early to judge what Wright can do. They would have a better record with J-Rich, because he is a good player and would have given more depth. The reason for most of the losses is that they need better post play, not because of Monta, who has been the most consistent player on the team this year. Basically, I wish they still had J-Rich, who was my favorite player on the team, but Monta is a great player.

Damn, that's no joke, just think if both of these teams were able to keep even half of the star players, it would be like Boston's sports teams.

good game.  everybody went nuts when boone airballed that first free throw.   ;D

fuckin reggie miller is classic.  during the time outs, on the big screen, they were looking for people that looked like the presidential candidates.  mcain's look a like was found in the crowd, hilary's was in the crowd, and than Obama came up.  everybody cheered, and then cheered and laughed even louder when they put Obamas picture next to Reggie who was calling the game.  man, that shit was hilarious.

anyway, guess who don nelsons been caught speaking with???

Warriors notebook: Warriors, Nellie look to reunite with C-Webb

(01-24) 21:05 PST Oakland -- Webber a Warrior? The acrimonious relationship between coach Don Nelson and ex-Warrior Chris Webber has been patched up enough for Golden State to contemplate reuniting the pair, a league source confirmed.

"If it works, it's only because of Nellie and Chris talking," the source said. "That's the key, but that's been quite a few years (in the making) and a lot of growing."

A report in Thursday's Sacramento Bee stated that Nelson had been seen recently at Webber's restaurant in Sacramento - Center Court with C-Webb - but the source said that the former player and coach have spoken only over the phone.

Their first go-around ended disastrously after Webber's rookie campaign in 1994, with Webber being traded and Nelson being fired the following season.

Webber and Oakland native Gary Payton, another veteran looking to join a team for a playoff push, are both represented by Bay-Area agent Aaron Goodwin.

Baron Davis' All-Star hopes received somewhat of a boost Thursday when Kobe Bryant and Allen Iverson were announced as the starting guards for the Western Conference.

Iverson nudged out Tracy McGrady by 10,410 votes in fan balloting, effectively knocking McGrady - who has missed 14 games - out of the running.

It's now up to the West coaches to choose two guards, two forwards, a center and two wildcards to round out the 12-man roster. With guards Steve Nash and Chris Paul virtual locks, Davis will be competing against Brandon Roy, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, and a host of forwards and centers for one of the wildcard spots.

The reserves will be announced Thursday, and in the likely event Davis is left off, the Warriors could still have a representative during the festivities in New Orleans from Feb. 15-17.

Second-year guard Kelenna Azubuike is eligible to participate in the annual Rookie Challenge, which pits the top rookies and sophomores against each other. Guard Monta Ellis starred in last year's game with 28 points, providing one highlight-reel dunk after another.

Nine players are chosen for each team by the league's assistant coaches, who must submit their votes by Monday. Azubuike is averaging 9.8 points and 4.2 rebounds in 23.8 minutes.

Hilltop Blues: Former USF star Bill Cartwright, now an assistant with the Nets, is optimistic about the long-term stability of the Dons' program after head coach Jessie Evans was replaced by the temporary Eddie Sutton.

"You just hope they have a plan on what they want to do," said Cartwright, who led the Dons to a No. 1 ranking in 1977-78. "I'm sure they do, and hopefully that'll happen. It's a great school, a great city."

Haha, you need to redeem yourself before you become an official bad luck charm.. The Warriors are always letting scrubs go off for career-highs, tonight it was Chris Duhon, and Joe Smith wouldn't miss anything. Baron and Jack stepped it up a little bit in the 4th quarter, but them 2 and Barnes were forcing it way too much, they should have been going more to Ellis and Harrington. What did you guys think of Webber? He is definitely not in shape to be running with the Warriors right now, but I could see him fitting in better than I expected, especially as the grind of the season takes its toll. Also, Tyrus Thomas has a pretty solid game from what I saw tonight, they should get him more time instead of Noah's selfish ass who is too worried about stealing his teammates' rebounds.

^^Tyrus Thomas is extremely skilled and talented, but underachieves...Noah has barely any skill or talent, but overachieves. It's like they cancel each other out...LOL

Webber looks like a terrible fit with the Warriors...Maybe he'll prove me wrong, but he looked way too slow last night. This looks like it could turn out to be the equivalent of Shaq in Phoenix.

Nelson ready to draw, or stand pat at trade deadline

(02-20) 22:57 PST  -- By noon today, Warriors coach Don Nelson will know exactly which players he'll have for his postseason push. And if Golden State is unable to upgrade its roster before the trade deadline, so be it.

"I wouldn't be unhappy," Nelson said before Wednesday's game against Boston. "I think I'm content enough to move ahead with what we have."

That doesn't mean the Warriors have been idle in trade talks, however.

Golden State is still looking to move disgruntled forward Mickael Pietrus, but its parameters remain the same: The Warriors want a rotational player in return, and specifically one without a long-term contract as the team plans to re-sign Monta Ellis and Andris Biedrins this summer.

The Warriors would consider taking on a hefty contract only if it involves adding a top-tier player such as Elton Brand or Jermaine O'Neal, but those scenarios do not appear likely.

If the Warriors do make a move, Nelson does not expect any of his rookies to be in play.

"We like what we did last year in the draft, and the fact that they're not ready to help us this year doesn't mean they're not going to be a big part of our future. They are. We like them very much," Nelson said.

"We're trying to have our cake and eat it, too. We're trying to get in and have those guys get a year under their belt and be contributors next year."

As for Pietrus, who started Wednesday in place of injured Stephen Jackson, Nelson said it wouldn't be a problem if Pietrus remains with the Warriors for the rest of the season.

"That's not easy to coach a guy (who's) not happy and wants to be moved, but I've certainly done it before and I can do it again if nothing works out," he said.

Said Pietrus: "What can I say? I don't have any control of anything. I don't have control of playing time, anything. The only thing I have is when they call my name, be the best for the team."

^^Webber hasn't contributed yet, but it's not like we lost anything by picking him up. Maybe he will get in better shape and help the team out during the stretch, or at least be a guy with 6 fouls for the playoffs. The Biedrins injury isn't bad if it is only a few weeks, it was nice to see Wright get the start even though he didn't do much. They clearly need at least 1 big guy to step up beside Biedrins and Harrington, and Croshere picked it up last night.

^^Yes, this is exactly what they have needed too. Another big off the bench who can run the floor, plus Croshere can get some minutes and knock down shots. You know you are going to get some ups and downs with a rookie like this, but at least we have finally seen that flash that he can play.

Why not both? J-Rich is a Guard/Forward, while Ellis can play both guard positions.
Title: Re: Sticky: GSW Hoops
Post by: Tay on March 06, 2008, 02:07:12 PM
^^Both of them would have been nice, but they wanted to clear cap room and get more size in the frontcourt. It will take time to see how good a trade it was since Wright is young, but hopefully it works out. No hate on J-Rich just because he is gone, I just hope he lights it up against the Western Conference except the Warriors.

Nice, it's tough to say because Wright had a few games where he contributed, but he didn't even play last game. They are playing pretty well right now, and as far as these ugly losses to bad teams, the fact that they have a good record shows that they must are doing pretty good against the good teams.

I think that depends on who they are playing too. Against a quick, small team like the W's, it would make sense, but he had a couple of good games before this one.

fuckin amari was eatin jack and al up inside.  why he fuck did he not bring croushere in to defend him earlier?  the 5 minutes that crosure played, he forced stoudimere into jumpers.  bring wright off the bench, he would have been eating up boards.  i sometimes think this dude has a few too many before the game man.

Haha, you aren't the only one. The thing is, that's his style, that's the team's style, and it can be frustrating but it is fun to watch. They rarely blow anyone out, constantly play from behind, play with weird line-ups, but somehow manage to pull off a lot of wins. He would probably be the first one to admit that he is too old and too drunk to coach sometimes.

Warriors forward Mickael Pietrus sat out Sunday's game after straining his groin on Friday. In the absence of an update, we assume he is day-to-day.

Al Harrington (13 points, 10 rebounds) played 37 minutes with Pietrus sidelined, while Matt Barnes played only seven minutes and isn't worth owning. Kelenna Azubuike (eight rebounds, two blocks in 28 minutes) is a fringe option in deep leagues if Pietrus is out for an extended period.

Wow, that was a good game and had me on the edge of my seat. I kind of expected the Lakers to close the gap, but not like that. Clutch 3's from Jackson to match Kobe down the stretch, and #2 comes up tomorrow night. Also, with Dirk's injury and the way the Mavs were already struggling, the playoffs might have enough room for the W's and Denver.

Haha, everyone is getting into it a little too much. Good mini-series, although the refs totally blew it on that last call and robbed everyone of a good finish, but it's in the past now. Each team got a split, now the W's need to regroup and finish strong to hold off Denver and pass Dallas, maybe another team or two. I really would rather not have these 2 match-up in the playoffs, my Laker fan roomates and I will not be on good terms.

You can't call the Laker announcers homers, they always say when the opposing team gets a bad call in the Lakers favor, and they praise good talent with a passion, regardless of what team they play for. Can't say that for the rest of the leagues announcers...they did say that refs don't usually blow the whistle to end a game, but they never said it was the wrong call...and you didn't hear them cry about all the bad calls in favor of the Warriors either. Anyways, lets end this discussion, cuz we all know that the Lakers at full strength would shit all over GS any day of the week...PeACe

Wow... Dirk is that fucking nigga... when I saw him go down against the Spurs I would not have imagined such an early return, in no way ever... real nigga right there... raw shit... haha too bad for GS I guess.

Now the Mavs have 2 very easy games, 2 middle-of-the-road ones and 3 hard ones. With Dirk in the line-up, I predict 4-5 wins out of those. Owning the tiebreaker now, the Warriors would have to win 3 more games... which would mean 7-8 out of the last 7 games... HAHA

I'm happy with that Game, actually. I thought the outcome would be worse. It's good news that it takes a career night of Odom and a comeback of the Gasol-Lakers to narrowly beat the Mavs at Staples, considering how terrible things looked for the Mavs not too long ago.

I like how you act as if the Lakers just don't play defense because they don't think it's necessary and could turn it on at any given minute. The way they handle defensive duties is what it is. That's just how it is, man. That's your team. Don't act as if they've been known as the defensive stoppers of the league this season.

Lakers played very good defense before Gasol went down...and when Bynum was in the middle, FORGET about it.

This is the start of the playoffs for the W's, national TV audience, a lot of points going to be scored with these 2 teams. We know how they play with pressure and the spotlight, they are taking this one!

I Agree With Coach Nelson...
J.R. is defo The Missing Peice.

That 20+ Pts. Guranteed Every Night.
I Think The Warriors Can Defo Go 2 & 1 the rest Of The way (Tho 3 in a Row is Ideal)
G.State Has The Softer Final 3 Compared to Denver.

I Think Denver Will Go 1 & 2.

Let's See

Now I'm really really wishing the NBA gives us a lottery pick for screwing us over by the shitty teams in the East make the playoffs.

This has been a tough couple of weeks here, and their chances are very slim. Their lack of defense and a bench really seemed to show at the end of the season against the better teams. What kind of moves do you think might be made next year? Obviously they would like to add an athletic big man, but that isn't easy. I wouldn't mind seeing Harrington leave, he is too inconsistent and gets too lazy and in love with the 3 sometimes. And they probably should have tried to get something for Barnes and Pietrus after last season, because both of them dropped off. Hopefully we get lucky and Denver screws up, but if not, a winning season and a lottery pick is a strange combo.

You guys willingly traded your best offensive weapon in Jason Richardson for someone who wasn't gunna contribute right off the bat...your fault.

We need a miracle now. The best year in franchise history and we can't even make the playoffs, it goes to show you how insanely competitive the West is.

If G.State can win their next 2 games (Including a Game Vs. The Suns)
& Denver loses to Memphis, Then The Warriors are in.

There is still a Chance.

Great season..
The Golden State Warriors become the first team in NBA history to lead the league in scoring
and miss the playoffs.

Alot of questions regarding B.Davis this off season.
(Rumor's are will will opt out this off season)

B Diddy, Croshere, and Pietrus are heading to Indiana for Jermaine O'Neal, Jamall Tinsley, Shawne Williams, and a draft pick

Something like this will happen between these 2 teams and Baron Davis in the off season.

LOL I know Im blazed and just dreaming a lil,  although its not like this is a lopsided deal,  Jermaine is far from finished he will be back,   but I also think Baron is happy with the Warriors,  I'm not so sure he wants to leave.

The hint that you are dreaming about your hero JO being traded makes it more evident than anything that he's done in regards of being a very good player.

They definitely struggled down the stretch and looked tired, but that's what happens when you have a 6 or 7 man rotation for 82 games. Last year, Baron missed a lot of time and looked a lot fresher in the end and the playoffs. I wouldn't say J-Rich was the best offensive weapon, but it would have been very nice to have him in the lineup, he would have provided a lot of energy and definitely won a few more games with him over Wright. They really need another 4 or 5 that can run the floor, and I wouldn't mind seeing Harrington gone, he likes to sit around the 3-point line too much.
