One thing can be said about both styles... They're both dead. At least Snap had a few hits before it died out.

Young L of The Pack makes some cool beats, in my opinion. I agree with Chad about the hyphy stuff, a few tracks are cool, but when every one is the same and forced, it's repetitive. Everyone tries to pull them off but only a few producers and rappers can really make it work.

Well I guess I'll have to be the first of the Dangerous Crew Movement to say that I don't care to hear this shit unless he's gone back to the bay.. dropped that crap South sound he's been using and get's back with Ant Banks, Shorty B and the rest of the Dangerous Crew.  His new shit sucks.  I mean I am a big fan of Too Short but we want that Funky PIMP he used to be back!!!

i gotta try so hard not to argue with you on this but, you must be brain dead to think that shit.

this is the only forum that i kno that people dont like hyphy, you be up in da club  or at a house party or ask any mutha fucka on da street wussup and i know they all love dat hyphy sht. its like the best representation on cali, if u dissing hyphy then ur dissing Mac Dre and everything he worked on.

You're telling me that Hyphy is still hot? It's still relevent? C'Mon... even the Federation put out a mellow cut as their first single. I never said that I didn't like Hyphy (I'm not a huge fan, but it's cool), so don't put words in my mouth. It's not the best representation of Cali. I'm not walking around L.A. and seeing all kinds of people with Stunna Shades talking to people saying "Yee!" "Yadadamean." I've never been the biggest Mac Dre fan, so I could careless about what he worked on. It all sounded the same to me...  :o

I wouldn't say it's completely dead, but it also wasn't this major movement or anything. It definitely doesn't represent all of Cali, but pretty much everybody knows about it now. I'm from the Bay and I live in Long Beach now, and it cracks me up when people be asking, "Do you go dumb?", or do their E-40 "Bayy Arrreaaa".. It gets some spins on the radio and does pretty good in the club, but you need more than just that. Also, it's not a knock on Mac Dre, he helped come up with the sound but most of his music was more about old-school funk samples, that's what he represented.

yeah wel neither do i, but i respect the talent and flows of the HUGE number of artists that carry on the movement. i mean look at messy marv or ya boy, you kno ya boy is down wit hyphy too, i mean its reach to the south and all over, i mean i hear Tech n9ne referring to it also. but i think you said it best by sayin that you dont even listen to it that much and i would consider that a false reason for making a judgement about something you obviously kno nuthin about. and if it all sounds the same to you, i dont even see how you could consider yourself someone who knows west coast music, because if you dont kno hyphy then you dont know west coast period.

I was kind of worried, my friend told me that this was one of the best Too Short albums ever, and I thought he was joking. He said it was mostly the hyphy, up-tempo club beats that are cool to knock in your car. I miss them live drums and old Ant Banks beats, so I'm not sure about this. I'm going to get it, but I'm expecting the same recycled lines with a few good beats.

I haven't heard his new album yet but I have to ask.. is your friend a new fan to Too Short?  How old is your friend?  Because I HIGHLY doubt this CD could be even close to being considered one of the best Too Short albums ever.

PLEASE SHORT COME BACK TO OAKLAND AND GET BACK TO THE FUNK!!!

My friend is 21, and he said this was the first Too Short album he bought since "Gettin' It". I pretty much thought the same thing when he told me that, and I respect his music opinions most of the time, but sometimes we disagree. I think this is going to be one of those times. That's cool.. I'm 27 going on 28 so I tend to like the early 90's type shit.. so maybe it's just he likes the newer Too Short sound.  I can respect that... I guess :P

Yeah I'm waiting to check it out, he said all the tracks were pretty good and Traxamillion's production was great, no Lil' Jon beats, but he didn't like the one with The Pack. It's definitely more up-tempo tracks, but I miss the music Short made in the 80's and early 90's.

Honestly I'm glad there's no Lil Jon beats on it.. I'm getting so tired of Lil Jon.. I think he was good for awhile and then he just got plain annoying.

I've never really been a fan of Traxamillion's production, I've tried to get into his beats but never could.

Hopefully it's a decent CD but I'll never consider it a true Too Short CD, to me he's lost his style and jumped on the South's bandwagon which just isn't his style.  I still think he can go back to the bay, bring back some of that funk but update it with a fresher new sound and make some dope music.  I think if he got back with some of the Dangerous Crew producers and then brought in some of the new producers like Dae One or even someone that's been around for quite some time like Damizza he could do something!!!

Yeah the style has changed so much since he was at the top of the game, but it's good to see him get away from the crunk/Lil Jon beats. I like Traxamillion's style sometimes, especially when he slows it down. "It's Whateva" by The Team and that "S.F. Anthem" were ridiculous beats that he produced. As for Too Short, he does alright with the new bay beats, but like you said, the true Too Short was with those classic funky bay tracks produced by Ant Banks, which he hasn't had for a while.
