While it may have seemed like Nas was keeping an uncharacteristically low profile since his very vocal disputes with radio stations and rival rappers earlier this summer, the Queensbridge MC was, in fact, silent but not sleeping.

Nas announced on Monday (August 12) that he'll be releasing a new album, called God's Son, on November 19.

While the album's final tracks have not been selected, the former Nasty Nas has been recording with Large Professor (one of the trackmasters who worked on his debut album, Illmatic), as well as Alchemist and Murder Inc.'s Irv Gotti.

And speaking of Gotti, does his involvement in God's Son mean it's true that Nas is now part of the Murder Inc. family? Well, on the one hand, there is a street-leaked song which features Nas claiming allegiance to "the I.N.C."  but at the same time, Nas' latest statement details that his new album will be released on Ill Will/Columbia Records, with no mention of any Murder Inc. signing at all.

So, if he is or if he will be, it's still hard to tell. Nas did, however, squash any rumors that he is leaving Columbia Records, stating, "I've always had a great relationship with Columbia and look forward to making records with them for the rest of my career."

However, when it comes to last week's pay-per-view challenge issued by rival Jay-Z on New York's radio waves (see "Jay-Z Challenges Nas To Pay-Per-View Battle During Radio Takeover"), Nas had a far more direct response: "Pay-per-view is for wrestlers and boxers. I make records. If Jay-Z wants to battle, he should drop his album the same day I do and let the people decide."

As of last week, Jay's The Blueprint 2: The Gift and the Curse was scheduled for release on November 5, two weeks before Nas' LP is set to drop.

Change 'Murder INC' to 'Ill Will/Columbia Records'.

Nas has been hard at work in the studio for the last two months, and has his plans set on changing the game with his upcoming album, God's Son, due out on November 19th. "I'm takin it to a whole new level with this one," explained the Queensbridge rapper. "The game's become stagnant, I'm here to put an end to that. I'm doing what needs to be done on this album, taking it back to the essence."

Although still officially signed to Columbia Records, Nas has become the newest member of Murder Inc.  Murder Inc. CEO Irv Gotti will play a large role in the project, contributing production to 4 tracks and serving as co-executive producer alongside Steve Stoute and Nas. Additional production will come from Large Professor, The Alchemist, L.E.S., DJ Premier, and Buckwild.

Guests slated to appear on the album include Ja Rule, Ashanti, AZ, Kool G Rap, and the Bravehearts. Nas, Ja Rule, and Ashanti will film a video for "The Pledge Remix" next week. The single and video should be released the following week, and the song will appear as a bonus track on both God's Son and Ja Rule's upcoming effort, The Last Temptation. The first official single for God's Son will be "So Many Tears", an Irv Gotti produced track featuring Ashanti and AZ.

"It's some real touching topics we touching on in that song. I got the beat and I was just like damn, AZ need to get on this so I called him up, we hit the studio the next day and it was beautiful, me and [AZ] were just zoned in, we banged that track out and that was that. We was on some real s---, just about all the messed up stuff we seen throughout our lives. Irv heard the joint and he flipped and was just like 'Yo, this is incredible, but we gotta get [Ashanti] on the hook'. We got her on there, I heard the final product and I knew this had to be the single."

The video for "So Many Tears" is set to be filmed in Queens on October 15th, and it should be released along with an official single shortly thereafter.

^^^ I know, I don't want to see "The Pledge Remix", Ja, Irv and Ashanti on this album at all.

But I do like having Large Professor, Alchemist, L.E.S., DJ Premier, and Buckwild producing tracks.

Nas saying  "I'm takin it to a whole new level with this one, I'm taking it back to the essence."   This doesn't mean shit to me cause artists always say stupid shit like this for every album then they make an excuse after the album drops if it's not that good.

I'm not saying the album will be bad, I'm going to have confidence in the man who dropped two amazing albums in the last 12 months.

Nas' next dose of reality, God's Son, has been pushed back to December 17. Many of the tracks were recorded from late September to mid-October in Miami while Ja Rule was also down at the studio working on The Last Temptation.

According to Nas' spokesperson, God's Son is still being recorded with "Made You Look" soundscape provider Salaam Remi, Large Professor and the Alchemist contributing most of the beats. No lyrical guests have made it on the LP as of yet.

I was just listening to Paul Rosenberg on Tim Westwoods radio1 rap show and he was saying that Em is recording with nas TODAY on a track which Em has produced for Nas' Gods Son album!!!

Paul Rosenberg only said it TODAY! That Em was actually in the studio with Nas recording this track TODAY! So it is real fresh news! I was under the impression that Gods Son was ready for release but obviously not if this track they've been working on today is gonna be on it! It should be tight though! U will be able to listen to the show at

"After all the talk of allegiances and collaborations, many will be as surprised by who Nas did not work with on God's Son as who he did work with.

There's no mention of Murder Inc. anywhere on the album, set for December 17 release, and no tracks produced by Irv Gotti.

Nas' longtime production aces-in the-hole, DJ Premier and L.E.S., also didn't make it on the LP. Instead, the rapper relied on beats by the criminally slept-on Salaam Remi, newcomers including Saukrates and Agile, and fellow acclaimed mic masters Alicia Keys and Eminem.

"I carry the cross," Nas rhymes over Shady's plodding piano rhythms on "The Cross." "If Virgin Mary had an abortion/ I still would be carried in a white chariot by stampeding horses .../ I'm happy the streets is back in New York."

Em doesn't rhyme on the last-minute addition to the album, but provides the musical forum for Nas to vent about R&B rappers who "f ---ed the game up" and explain that he can't keep a girl because he won't hold any of them in higher regard than this daughter. He also describes how reinventing himself helped him regain the title of hip-hop king.

Nas goes from throne to the battlefield, collaborating with Alicia Keys on "Warrior." Keys, who plays the piano on the song and incorporates an African drum sampled from Fela Kuti's catalog, also sings the chorus.

"This is a song for my warriors, brave hearted and strong/ Definition of a warrior/ Gonna keep marching on to the sound of our own beating drum."

Nas also rhymes about trying to stay strong while realizing his mother was dying. "Mother is the closest thing to God ... Wishing death on other n---as' mothers ain't right/ But why mine?" he asked aloud, before revealing his mom's last words to him: "Never give up."

Coping with the loss of his mother since her April passing is a recurring theme throughout God's Son, surfacing on tracks such as "Dance," where he wishes he could dance one last time with his parent; "Heaven," where he poses the question, "What would you do if heaven was one mile away?"; and "Thugz Mansion," which features vocals by Tupac.

"This whole year's been crazy/ Asked the Holy Spirit to save me/ ... I feel like my eyes saw too much suffering/ I'm only 20-some-odd years, I done lost my mother/ I cry tears of joy/ I know she smiles on the boy/ I dream of you more/ My love goes to Afeni Shakur."

A similar version of the song appears on Tupac's upcoming LP Better Dayz. While God's Son has two Nas verses and one Pac verse, the duo's mic time is reversed for the Tupac album. A spokesperson for Nas says Interscope has asked the rapper to appear in the video for Pac's version in the next two weeks.

Lighter in subject matter is the bass-heavy "Hey Nas," which features a hook sung by Kelis and City High's Claudette Ortiz.

"Someone that's into me but won't f--- all my enemies," Nas says, describing his version of a perfect woman. In response, Ortiz promises, "I can be all that."

Outside of the studio, it seems that the wild-haired protégé of the Neptunes is Nas' real down chick. On "Mastermind," one of three tracks produced by the Alchemist, he raps about his apparent girlfriend. "Gave the keys to Kelis/ Whispered in her earlobe, 'Drive home.'/ 'Cause she the wife and they the freaks/ They underneath my girl's caliber."

Nas' caliber of rhyme garnered him props among hip-hop's top line-throwers in the mid-'90s. On "Real N---as," he tells of how the competition level had many of the biggest names bumping heads at the time.

"Y'all don't know about my Biggie wars/ Who you thought 'Kick in the Door' was for?/ But that was my heart/ Y'all still trippin' off that Jigga sh--."

Throughout the song, Nas gives an insider's look at what was going on at that time, from P. Diddy dreaming of starting Bad Boy, RZA — whom he refers to by his former moniker Prince Rakeem — forming a new group called Wu-Tang Clan and Clan members Raekwon and Ghostface Killah subsequently beefing with Notorious B.I.G. over biting. He addresses his baby's mother's alleged infidelities with other rappers and reveals how he and current advisor Steve Stoute had problems trusting each other.

Of course, Jay-Z isn't left untouched (see "Jay-Z Speaks On Beef With Nas, Links With 'Austin Powers' "). The Queensbridge rhyme slayer raps, "The Gift and the Curse, f--- that/ The first shall be last ... I was like Scarface, Jay was Manolo/ It hurt me when I had to kill his whole squad for dolo."

Wow...no Murder Inc & Irv Gotti!  Maybe they are mad that Em worked with him?

Well, i know most people that have listened to the leaked version of Gods SOn dig the album (except for ZOne out)......well, unfortunately it looks like NAs is pissed that the album got bootleged and has changed the tracklisting!  And besides taking off Zone out, he has also taken off the following songs:

Get Down
The Cross
Last Real Nicca Alive
Thug Manzions
Dance
Mastermind

THis better be bullshit, cuz those are likely the best 6 songs on the album!  WHatever the case, SOMETHING is up cuz  CDUNIVERSE.com have a new tracklisting then they did yesterday, they had the other tracklisting up and now they have this one........

1. My Book Of Rhymes
2. Crabs In A Barrel
3. Grimey
4. You Wanna Be
5. My Will
6. Have Fun
7. Made You Look
8. Hey Nas
9. Warrior
10. If Heaven Was A Mile Away
11. Me & You
12. I Can

Any Nas fans remember what happened when I Am was supposed to be a double album but it got heavily bootlegged (it was one of the first real victims of this in music)?  He realized it as a single album without most of the tightest songs, and added some rushed new songs.  Some of the ones that never made the album ended up being released on Lost Tapes, and we all know how dope that album is.  Damn, i dont want NAs to make the same mistake again, this could be a disaster..........guess we will see!  peace

YEAH!  Go T.K.!
:)

Nas is dropping his 7th album 'God's Son' on the world four days earlier than scheduled.

Counterfeit burned CDs have already hit the streets and the early release is the fastest his company Columbia can get it out to counter the counterfeiters.

Fans have been warned that the fake CDs on the market are of inferior quality and Nas himself is concerned for fans who may hear the counterfeit version first. "God's Son is my most personal album and I poured my heart and spirit into it," said Nas. "It's important to me that the fans hear my album the way I intended. When you buy a bootleg or pirate a download off the net, you don't get the real thing. The sound sucks, the sequencing is wrong, you're probably missing some tracks, and you don't even get the artwork and CD bonuses."

'God's Son' will now be released on December 13 instead of the originally intended December 17 date.

The album features production from Eminem, Alicia Keys, Salaam Remi, and Alchemist.

Gods Son; hit the Internet a week ago and the massive bootlegging has begun, some sites boast that the album has already been downloaded 5000 times on their site. Columbia records has caught on to this and has subsequently moved the release date forward.

Instead of the original planned release date of December 17th, the album has been moved 4 days earlier to the 13th. If that seems like an odd day to you, you are right. The 13th is a Friday (bad luck Nas), which a switch from the industry standard of Tuesday releases. Eminem was forced to use similar methods earlier this year when he rushed “The Eminem Show” out on a Sunday.
