Kokane
Dr. Jeckel & Mr. Kane
Mid 2003
Doggystyle/MCA Records
Features: Toe Jam, Lenny Kravitz, D'Angelo, Snoop Dogg, Butch Cassidy, LaToiya Williams
Kokane will show off his musical talent along with his own funk group, Toe Jam. This will be a unique album indeed. Battlecat and Meech Wells will also provide the beats.
-
DJ Silk will also do some production, and Above The Law are featured on at least one track.
This is Kokane's fourth solo album.

According to allmusic.com Mr. Kane released the album Addictive Hip Hop Muzick in 1991 from Ruthless Records. Supposedly he released it under the name Who Am I?

That'll sound dope...at first when Snoop started to use Kokane on like every song, it started gettin' reeeeal old, but now the more I hear of him, the more i like him...im gonna peep his shit when it drops...

Kokanes LP is gonna be Doggystyle/MCA
-
Kokanes first album wasn't released under the name "Who Am I?" The album cover or CD just didn't say Kokane on it, it said "Who Am I?", because he was so afraid that the media would blow his name (Kokane) out of proportion and stores wouldnt release it commercially...So he didnt place the word Kokane on his album, instead he put "Who Am I?" for people to guess...so the album is "Who Am I? Addictive Hip Hop Muzic" by Kokane...
Oh, and his latest album is being released under the name Mr Kane...
-
I love to support West Coast Hip Hop but this is one album I might not cop. I just ain't feelin' Kokane. Maybe if Dr. Dre provides the brother with some heat then I'd consider copping the joint.
-
Any updates with this album?

Kokane news! - 27 February, 2003 By : Nima
We hadn't heard nothin' from Kokane aka Mr. Kane in a lil' while, but in the last days, alot has been happenin'. A new advance hit the internet, and Toon from DPGRecordz informed us about two Kokane projects in the works!
First they puttin out "Don't Bite The Phunk" on his own label, a kind of Greatest Hits cd with 16 tracks, old songs, tight collaborations, but also some newer tracks (Thugs Need Luv, Major Skrilla (feat. Kurupt), Sucka Shit are some of the songs on there). After that CD is released, we will see "Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Kane", his long awaited album, with all new songs.
So big things comin' from Kane, don't sleep on one of the only artists keepin' the funk alive!
As a little teaser, we got a song from the advance for you. It's called "Dogg House Soul Food", and is performed by Kokane along with Butch Cassidy and Latoya Williams. This cut is produced by the one and only Warren G, and its hot!!!!
-
didnt Toon say the new advance IS the full version of the cd? or sumthin like that and i cant fuckin wait 4 this cd lol
-
Cant wait for this release to hit the stores! :)
-
Above The Law are featured on at least one track.
Hahahahaha, strange Above The Law doesn't know anything about it, since the album has been completed long ago and ATL were never invited to participate, but I guess homeboy knows something that no one else does, lol.
-
^^That was posted in November 2001 shortly after Tha Formula website posted six clips from what they said was Kokane's upcoming album. KMG was on one of the clips. Obviously Kane didn't end up using that particular track.

Okay I feel you that was a track that KM.G and Koko did back in 2000, that was featured on Tha Formula's website. That track was weak anyway.
-
Kokane is tite, album should be tite.
-
I'm sure I'm gonna take a listen to this shit, but Kokane never been the same as on Funk Upon A Rhyme.
I hope the new album, indeed, goes back to that style, 'cause back then, he was good.
