Title: What Will Happen With Kwame Brown?
Post by: Now_Im_Not_Banned on April 28, 2008, 12:34:01 PM
Kwame Brown closed out the year on a very shitty note, playing in only 15 of the final 35 Memphis Grizzly games and averaging 3.5 points and 4 rebounds in 13 minutes with them...Now, we all know Kwame Brown is not a number one overall pick caliber player, but dude can still be a serviceable backup center, as he's proven in the past. The question is, will anyone take on him or is his "bust" label way too big to overlook? Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing Kwame back with the Lakers next season in a limited role, if we can sign him to a minimum contract...in your opinion, what will happen with Kwame Brown?

back on the lakers? are you insane? getting rid of him was one of the happiest days of my life, Mbenga is better than him, shit anyone is better than him.

^he's a good a back-up center. I like his interior D...if he heals his injuries in the off-season and returns with a vengeance, we're gunna need someone to back up Bynum at the center spot, and Mihm wont cut it. Kwame might not be the great player we wanted him to, but that doesn't mean he's not serviceable.

Kwame who?? Never heard of him.

Back on the Lakers, he was on the Lakers?? Back up center... let me see who I remember as back up centers, Elden Campell, John Salley, Travis Knight, Mark Madson, Jelani McCoy, Greg Foster, Horace Grant, I remember AC Green playing some center, Jamal Sampson, Chris Mihm, Sam Bowie (I remember all the MJ triva when he was a Laker backup, Vlade Divac (twice, the second time as a backup), Brian Grant, Andrew Bynum, Sam Perkins, Ronny Turiaf, J.R. Reid, Sean Rooks (how can I forget a local Fontana High baller), Anthony "Pig"  Miller, Antonio Harvey (man he sucked)...

Let me see... nope, don't remember any Kwame Brown... is he any good?

I have the feeling he won't back in L.A., NIK. He'll probably go to Europe, but i won't see a top calyber European team signing him. I mean you have to be a scorer too, in Europe, if you want to get a good contract. And Kwame aint. I don't know, maybe an NBA team will sign him as a backup center, but i don't see it happening. I mean the only thing teams wanted from him was his expiring contract.

if he comes back, yes, as Gasol is at center for the rest of the season and Bynum will have his minutes cut as his recoving. Next year, look for Bynum at center, Gasol at PF and Odom at SF

i honestly don't see that being the SET lineup for next year. i mean you can get away with that line up when you're going up against the spurs or somethin' but against teams like the suns i see them starting the line up we have now with bynum coming off the bench.

He can't go to Europe, he'd be totally confused and overstrained. All the change is more than his dumb, fragile ass could ever bear. Imagine him going to a country with a different language, culture, FIBA basketball rules and all.. oh my, dude would be so fucked.

He's tall, at least. So some team that is pathetic in that regard might sign him. He's probably better than Magloire, even. Anybody here who knows what happened to this guy? He used to be an All-Star and now he can't do anything.

^I think just the fact that he's a physical beast would help him to dominate if he ever landed in Europe.

As much as I hated that brick handed bastard, I wouldn't mind him coming back to us ONLY if its for like a mill per year and he's only playing about 15 minutes a game for defensive purposes only. I don't want him every touching the ball! Just set picks and play low post D.

somebody will probably pick him up for a minimum contract or a portion of the MLE as a depth move. he's not a bad guy to be a backup 4-5. he sucks but he would be serviceable enough in that role to get your starters at 4-5 a good 10-15 minutes of rest

If he was signed with a minimum contract I'd like to see him as the back up center for the Lakers. His size alone is an advantage.

On second thought, fuck him. We finally have a roster of players that I actually like. I don't cringe when I see any of these guys touch the ball...I can't go back to that. I'd rather us pay more and get DeSagana Diop.

^ I hear all of that.... but there was a brief moment in the game when both Gasol & Kobe were on the bench that we could have used someone with more experience than Mdenga. Kwame' could have fit in nicely in those few minutes.

Not even close, L.O. and Luke were both playing better than him. Yeah he played some good D and busted his ass against Phoenix but that was Kwame @ 110 percent and he doesn't have that kind of motivation and work ethic plus he has tiny hands which there is nothing he can do about.

No you're focusing too much on that. Kobe was Kobe, LO had his swag right, Luke stepped up, Kwame had no choice but to benefit. Thats not him tho. He overachieved like a muthafucka. I appreciate him for it but still, lets not pretend that thats how he usually plays.

LMAO...in '05-'06, Luke wasn't even in the rotation. Kwame was averaging something like 13-10 in the 2nd half of that season..

are you on weed? in '05-'06, Luke averaged 5 points and 3 rebounds...Kwame was way more important that year. At one point, the trade for him was considered a major success.

check the games from March 14 on up, when he was inserted as the permanent starter.

lets also not forget, Kwame had a season where he averaged about 11 points and 8 boards, so it's not like he's un-NBA worthy. He might not be a star, but he's definitely serviceable when not injured.

He's probably better than Mihm anyway.
I mean having already Bynum and Gasol who can score, we need a defender.
And Kwame is a better defender than Mihm.

OK, I wasn't going to even acknowledge Kwame Brown was a Laker, but I have to comment.

SCCIT, YOU ARE BLIND AS HELL. Kwame Brown is a scrub.

http://www.youtube.com/v/6PP4RT-vv-o&hl=en

Seriously, Kwame sucked, he was a flop, he couldn't handle LA pressure, Kobe CARRIED that '05-'06, and to be the 3rd best player wasn't saying much. Past Odom and Kobe the Lakers as a whole were horrible. He can defend, but he was such a risk on offense it's not even worth it. See, when you pick a role player that you wish to stay on the team, you could have picked someone better than Kwame Brown. At least when I was in high school, the player I was sad to see leave was Eddie Jones.  You picked Kwame Brown. After all these years of defending him, you actually drank your own Kool-Aid. Kwame never fit in the offense, he frustrated Kobe, he was never sure of his own shot, never trusted his own shot, he kept on dropping the ball. HE WAS BOO'D BY HIS OWN FANS!!! When I watched the Lakers, I yelled, don't pass it to Brown.

Now let me go back to forgetting Kwame Brown was ever a Laker... Thank you

^Mdogg, don't be a dumbass, I never said I was heartbroken when Kwame left...LOL. but to act like he didn't provide any pluses while he was with us is a joke. Sure, he wasn't fit to be our primary center, as he was for over 2 years, but he could work very well in a back-up role... I mean, I don't mind keeping Mbenga and Mihm, but if we don't, Kwame will be a good fit.

I'm so proud of Lamar and Kwame and the way they're playing right now.  8)

Lakers fans gave Kwame a standing ovation

gotta give props to Kwame

I have no choice but to beilive NIK. He was right about Lamar, he was right about Kwame, he just knows this shhit when it comes to the Lakers.

Laker fans have a bad memory.

It wouldn't suprise me if L.A. brought him back but somebody needs 2 teach dude how 2 catch, sure he was well liked by his Laker teamates and he could play a limited role behind Bynum and Gasol, but damn all those turnovers...

he did have one good game vs Washington a couple seasons ago that's all I remember.

^Mdogg, don't be a dumbass, I never said I was heartbroken when Kwame left...LOL.

I didn't either. I'm just saying, I am trying hard to forget our starting center was Kwame Brown. I don't need him back to remind me. He needs to go to Europe, or the Clippers, or somewhere so he can be out the NBA for a while and get better. Then maybe he can sign with a team like the Bobcats, get some playing time and show his ready for the league.
