Details are coming together for Midwestern rapper Eminem's feature film debut. We now know that the movie will be called The Untitled Detroit Project. And, that production has begun in the 313. Everyone's favorite whiney rapper plays "James Smith, Jr.," a young guy out there searching for his place in the world.
The Curtis Hanson (LA Confidential, Wonder Boys) directed film takes place in 1995 Detroit when the community begins to disintegrate and Smith's family remains indifferent. The Untitled Detroit Project also stars Kim Basinger (as Smith's mother), Mekhi Phifer who plays Smith's best friend, Future, and Brittany Murphy who'll act as the apple of Jimmy's eye.
Em's also said to be collaborating with his West Coast mentor Dr. Dre on the music for the film, as well as the Interscope Records soundtrack.
