R&B singer R. Kelly entered a plea of not guilty via his attorney at his arraignment hearing on child pornography charges Wednesday morning (June 26).
Kelly, who is free on a $750,000 bond, did not speak during the hearing, which was held at Chicago's Cook County Courthouse. Outside the courtroom, he smiled and waved to fans who came to show their support (click here for an explanation.
The singer was arrested in Polk County, Florida, earlier this month after he was indicted on 21 counts of child pornography by a Cook County grand jury.
The charges stem from a videotape which Chicago police and Cook County prosecutors say depicts the singer having sex with a 14-year-old girl. Chicago authorities say they authenticated the tape with help from FBI forensics experts.
Kelly denies that he's the man on the tape, and his criminal defense attorney Edward Genson maintains that the female on the tape was not a minor at the time.
If convicted, Kelly faces up to 15 years in prison and a maximum fine of $100,000. Kelly's case was assigned to Judge Vincent Gaughan. A discovery and motions hearing was set for August 7.

I hope he is acquitted of these charges, I wouldn't want to see R. Kelly's career ruined. He's way too talented.

Talented or not, law applys to everyone. If he broke a law, he should be punished accordingly, & the evidence points to him being guilty

If that ain't Kelly on the tape, how does his lawyer know how old the girl is?
