after looking though my 62 album collection i have calculated that:
19% is westcoast
11% is mid-west
27% is south
43% is eastcoast
these results also nearly correctly reflect the rap game at this current moment:
1, eastcoast - it is obviously running the show
2, south - second best, bringing nice creativity in the game
3, mid-west - quickly becoming a major force in rap
4, westcoast - desperately needing more creativity and young talent

Man, fuck that. The West is tight the way it is. The only reason why peeps on the east do so well is because they sell out to white kids. That's it. The West is harder and more gangsta.

It's sad to see responses like these.
Sell out to white kids?
How about the black, brown, yellow, green, whatever color?
Dont they buy records?
Does the WestCoast-artist have a sticker on their albums: "Please dont sell to other than black people, preferbly looking as gangsta as possible" ?'

What arre you on? Your music collection has nothing to do with the state of Hip-Hop. It's just your personal taste.
So I guess since my collection consists of 67% West, 23% South, 7% Mid-west and 3% East, that means East Coast music is the lacking? It just means I'm a fan of most artists from the Westcoast.
So your argument doesn't make much sense.

I hardly own any east coast albums because I really don't like much that comes for there. I'm not saying they're bad rappers, it just ain't my taste in music.

Lol @ Magnificent's ignorant thread. Just because YOUR personal collection consist's of more eastcoast albums that doesn't reflect the state of hip-hop, like Sikotic said, it's all down to your personal taste. I happen to think that all coasts have their fair share of dope artists, but I personally like more material from the west, but thats just me. I have alot of eastcoast material too but I don't think every eastcoast MC I own material by is doper than material by every artist out of the south just because I own more from the east, thats just stupid. Have you no common sense?

How I see it is: West coast hiphop has definitely seen better days. The only artists who will go platinum every time they release an album is Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg & Xzibit.
I gotta agree that east coast is running things right now.
My collection is probably 50/50 East/West, but my personal collection doesn't reflect the state of hiphop today. Neither do anyone else's.
