Title: Final G-Unit Sale Numbers
Post by: wc-reppin on July 08, 2008, 01:37:09 PM
So lets start a poll. Who is 50 gonna diss now that his album did not even sell 100k first week. Whether it was low budget with no name producers or not you know damn well 50 is pissed!!! Lil wayne sold another 150k this week.

Numbers from hitsdailydouble.com

G-UNIT INTERSCOPE 96,043 --
T.O.S. (TERMINATE ON SIGHT)

g-unit is finished, but the poor output and sales of this album is due to some kind of friction between 50 and jimmy more than just the straight failure of the unit. it could have easily had some generic timbaland single and decent promotion if relations were still good at interscope...

there was that track called 'feel good' that came out and wasn't on the album. that was pretty good i thought. chilled out, funky vibe. much better than most the material on the lp.

What I find funny, 50 is now finding it hard to sell more than artists on the Koch aka The Graveyard as he once called it.
Title: Re: Final G-Unit Sale Numbers
Post by: Retro on July 08, 2008, 04:16:58 PM
hahahaha, that is horrible.

Soon it will just be 50 on g-unit and the rest will be on Koch.

50 needs to stop being stingy and go work with talented producers, not even well known producers just talented. Nas went, and did it, and he came out with the album of the year.

nas also is in a lyrical game miles above 50 and gunit and that has a big thing to do with it ...not jus the beats

The singles were pretty bland...not terrible, but nothing that moves you. The club reaction is like "eh, ok..."

Damm though, that is probably the worst first week in G-Unit history...even Yayo did twice that in his first week.

i think it just comes down to making good music. being 50 cent is good enough promotion. he had no problem selling when dre was behind the boards cause it good music. and i think making buck look like a bitch was the worst promo move ever, dude was still going to be on your album talking gagnsta shit and u release a tape of him crying talk about shooting yourself on the foot.
Title: Re: Final G-Unit Sale Numbers
Post by: Matty on July 08, 2008, 07:35:49 PM
thats very true. if 50 still had the dre (although the its been a while since dre produced a hit record) behind the boards it'd be a wrap. same goes for a timbaland single cause tim is consistantly making good music from a production viewpoint. that single he had on curtis might of been corny but musically it sounded better than the rest of the album and for that reason crossovered well. i just think there are politics at the moment preventing 50 from either releasing any 'good' music or he's on strike from making any kind of quality mainstream record.

Let me play devil's (or 50, same thing at times.  ;D) advocate for a minute since I am bored.

50 has all but shown he is done with Interscope with this release.

Being the ego maniac he is, he personally wants his "last" album to go out with a bang, so he is saving all his resources (Dre, Timbo, etc) for a grand finale album to show what Interscope will be missing once he leaves

Any non 50 solos from now till his release will most likely be on a low budget and low promo. (Translation: Yayo and Banks are FUCKED!)

If he really wanted to stay with Interscope he could have come up with a better product then this album ( I liked most of it, but BFM was damn near a personal classic for me)

Now back to reality. This shit is funny as fuck! You live by album sales, you will die by album sales. Game take notes, you might be next if ya ain't careful.

This news makes me very happy.

Don't get me wrong, there are some 50 Cent and G-Unit records I've loved, and I thought 'GRODT', 'Beg For Mercy', 'Hunger for More' and 'Straight Outta Cashville' all had some awesome tracks. But Curtis Jackson, as much as even ringtone rappers like Soula Boy, is responsible for further commoditising rap music. More than any other rap act I can think of today, he has used his business acumen to help him develop a facade, a public image that he can't let slip - and with every billion-dollar deal he strikes, it becomes more laughable that he still insists on putting out such cliched, so-called hardcore bullshit. Since 'GRODT', 50 has failed to evolve as an artist in any respect - in fact, his music is arguably much worse. This is the proof that hip-hop heads are tired of it.

50 has to either want off the label or this is his way of showing "appreciation" of all the moves he deems that Interscope has done in the past as bad (leaking videos and singles early, not letting him pick them as well, add any other excuse or problem here).

no, i mean real fans. like i know the real fans of weezy, who copped tha carters and 500 degrees, etc. are NOT the same fans coppin tha carter 3. once wayne switched up his style, and brought his swag into his rap, and you know what im sayin with waynes like big transformation. anyway, once he switched he got a whole mess of like non-true hip hop fans who just liked his music. so you take some of his old fans who just wanted to check out and see if C3 was any good, and you add in all those fake fans who switched over to weezy when he started rappin in NUMEROUS metaphors in every other line, and "swag rapped" and you got....A MILLIE!

The album is not that bad. "Straight Outta Southside" is the shit! Songs like "Piano Man", "Close To Me", "No Days Off", "I Don't Wanna Talk About It" and "Party Ain't Over" are entertaining. I don't agree with yall about the single... I think "Rider Pt. 2" is one of the best tracks on the album. All of them came on point with their flows on it. I'm disappointed by Banks. Yayo surprised me on a few songs, but he's still wack to me. Young Buck and 50 are okay.

"real fans" buy the album regardless. which makes them meaningless - the point of promo/singles/videos is to get new fans/the average listener to buy your cd. whther you do that by the first week or the seventeenth really doesn't matter. Why the record companies think so as anybodys guess.

I guess wiggers abandoned G-Unit once and for all. When I heard Fiddy doing his T-Pain thing in Ryder pt.2, I knew they really were swimming in deep shit. Since Tony Yayo and Lloyd Banks have succesfully graduated from 50 Cent's G-Unit Gangster Academy, they will be given a copy of Get Rich Or Die Tryin' LP as a diploma of studies and, of course, one-way bus ticket back to ghetto.
