Title: Bishop Lamont - Grow Up or Jay-Z - 30 Something
Post by: Matty on July 15, 2008, 08:16:03 PM: Thought this was an interesting one now the Bishop single has been in rotation a while. 2 Dre produced tracks - similar speed and subject matter - but which one is better?

My opinion is that the hook is lame on the Bishop track, that synth that comes in and the 'up up up up up' is way too obvious and completely ruins it. Apart from that the vibe is really warm, Bishop is on point and and you got Dre's years in the making 'epic clap' drums in the mix. I'd go with the Jay track because its some catchy minimalist jazzy funk shit though 8)

Opinions?

30 Something ain't bad though.

I think both songs have a good, more mature subject mater, are good flow wise and have some nice quotables. But Grow Up is better because of the production, 30 Something sounds like a 2001 leftover.
