Tampa will face Rangers in Prague; Ottawa will face Pittsburgh in Stockholm.
After that, other teams will start on October 9th.

so whats a good draft strategy in hockey?

^nice, let the propfest begin lol.
as for strategy, here are some tips:
get 3 to 4 goalies; 2 might screw u over, more than 4 isn't really worth it because of other positions.
try and get at least 1 backup for each main position (C, LW, RW, and Ds) in case your main guy at the position goes in a mini-slump.
and view player stats from last year to see what you're going to draft and then be able to determine what you need.
example: you draft a couple of high goal scorers; you know your goals stat will be pretty set, so you might want to focus on getting a player who gets a good chunk of assists in the upcoming rounds.

QUESTIONS: Do we have to choose our lines? For some of my players, it says their position, then for sum it just says "F" (he can play any forward position? "W" (any wing?) How come they aren't specific? And what is a "utility" player? And why is half of my team benched?

Lines: you can pick your own lines as long as the players are eligible.
Positions: for the forward positions, you can use any Center or Winger; for wingers, you can use any winger on your roster at that position.
for utility, you can use any skater position (Ds, Cs, and Ws)
Bench: that's used for any players that aren't playing.
EDIT:
after looking at your roster, you really should drop a few of those defensemen and Sundin lol
a few good players available that can help.

sort of
basically, the stats of the players that you put in your lineup accumulate for a week in the categories listed.
then based on that, it determines how man categories you won, lost and tied.
example:
say that there are only 3 categories: goals, assists (these two would be skater positions) and wins (goalie positions)
your team scores 10 goals in a week; mine scores 6; you'd pick up a win for that category at the end of the week (and id get a loss)
your team gets 12 assists; mine gets 15; you'd pick up a loss (and id get a win)
and we both have 3 wins a piece; then we'd both have a tie in that category.
your record then would be 1-1-1 at the end of the week, and would add on to previous weeks.

basically whenever a player gets a penalty for doing something illegal, they get sent to the penalty box; in some cases they get kicked out of the game. that usually depends on how severe their action was.
and in terms of fantasy sports, it is a good thing.

Well one of the real reasons he gt traded out of Mtl is that he has beefs with the kostitsy brothers. This is a fact. No one knowds the real reason but people know there is a beef.

The Bombcasters have acquired the best defenceman in the league, Shea Weber, in exchange for old-ass Rob Blake, who is struggling to make a last ditch effort as a top D-Man before he dwindles into just another veteran.
The Bombcasters have also signed power-forward Mats Sundin to a 7-figure deal yesterday. Mats totaled last season with 78 points, and wasn't sure of his return to hockey until now.

Dec. 31st, Bombcasters clean out team roster.
The Bombcasters have revamped their roster today, releasing and picking up a number of players. GM Jules had this to say about rebooting the team: "It's about half way through the season, and you have to look at the players responsible for you being under .500 on the year. Changes had to to made, and they were. The core group is still there, we've just brought in a stronger group of players to support them."
Among the new pick-ups are: Nigel Dawes, Joffrey Lupul, Dennis Wideman, Michael Ryder, Andrew Ladd, and Rene Bourque.
The Bombcasters are 70/79/19 on the season.

The draft will be SUNDAY, SEPT. 27th, at 7:00 PM PACIFIC TIME.
If you can't make the draft, set your player picks in the Pre-Ranking system and it will choose those players for you (if they aren't available it will pick the best player out there according to Yahoo's ranking system)
Players will face off against each other once per week to in categories. The players with the most category points at the end of the season go into Playoffs.

I will also definitely be trading immediately following the draft. I'm looking for a certain amount of character players, and I doubt I'll have the luck to acquire them all.
After finishing in what seemed to be the "second tier" last season, and only obtaining the work ethic needed to win during the playoffs, an efficient draft is needed for the BombCasters' second year.

Malkin slid to 4th! I wouldnt have guessed that.. although it was pretty much guaranteed Luongo would be taken in the first round.
Eric Staal slid to the 5th round? I could see him getting 95 points this year
My goalies ended up being my last 2 picks (Mason and Leclaire)... thats the opposite of the strategy Id usually use, generally I'd get my keepers in the first 3 or 4 rounds.. Ill have to pick up another one as a sub in case Ottawa doesnt want to rely too much on Leclaire.

I noticed that Kane is obviously idle in this pool since the day Mo signed up for him, and if he's gonna be a dummy team, I had to make him competible. (I'm sorry!) His record is dead last and horrible.
The players picked up and dropped were based off current stats, since Kane's account was on autodraft and got some slumpers. From now on, I will make 1 move per week on his account.
I know I moved like 9 players here, but before you complain that your future player add was taken, look at the players that got freed up. A few are just going through slumps right now and would be valuable to any roster! With the BombCasters lack of depth in goal in lieu of Roberto Luongo's cracked ribs, Ilya Bryzgalov was brought in to fill Briere's roster spot. "He is leading the Coyotes to success right now, and that kind of role just became available!" Bryzgalov has 8 wins and 3 losses, 3 of those wins were shutouts.

It's jaydc and no. Kane and him haven't signed into the league since the auto draft took place.. I have been making a move for them each week, just to keep it fresh but..
I mean, if we wanted, I could drop all the players from those teams to the Free agency list. We can't delete teams unfortunately, so if you were to do that, whoever faces those teams gets an easy win that week, since they would have no roster to compete with.. Which could be okay because every team would get their bys.
Or if you guys wanna take your chance against the robots, we can keep them with active rosters. That wouldn't be so cool though if one of them makes it into the playoffs. lol!

You still get a player move this week, don't forget.
Waivers are changed to 2 days, waiver order same as expansion draft order, so if you drop someone, the person in 1st rank has 2 days to claim him if he wants, before anyone else (than 2nd, 3rd, etc.) After you exercise your waiver rank, your rank gets move to last.

The BombCasters have announced the rebuilding of their team complete with a successful 10-0-2 week. This comes on the same night the final major move was made in their bid to get back into the standings, after falling to the bottom of the pack early on. Of the restructuring included: adding a third goalie in replace of the fourth D-man spot, and giving up some of their superstar forwards in favor of a more balanced roster. "Giving up players like Heatley, and Thornton didn't hurt me." GM Jules said, who acquired Defencemen piggyback Dan Boyle to replace his missing out on the Sharks Offence. Among other stars who left the team were Marian Hossa, Henrik Sedin, and Chris Pronger. "Getting a twin back was the final trade I wanted to make."
It was announced Pronger had been packaged with break-out performer Dustin Penner in exchange for Daniel Sedin last night. Now headmanning the team is Thrashers powerhouse Ilya Kovalchuk, and a D-core that can gather points like forwards. Jules' has only one regret all season: "I missed the boat on Markov, I thought I could just pick him up again off the waiver wire, but he was picked up. I didn't think anyone knew he was coming back so soon."
When asked about what the future holds in the GM office, Jules offered a solid vow to stand by underachievers Mike Richards and Jeff Carter. "They're gonna come around, they are too talented and surrounded by too much talent to not." He also noted that everyone on his team is untouchable now, except for newcomer Martin Erat. "I might reevaluate my goalies if a trade were to be proposed involving them, but the only player I'm even slightly interested in right now is Alexander Semin."

lol. Damn.. Doons Goons was one of my recruits... Not from the forum. He had the weakest team of all active teams, but somehow managed to win... LOL.

You think? I kinda liked the idea of if you wanna keep your superstar player even when he's injured he's gonna have to take up one of ur roster spots. A little mind game to see how much you value a player? But yeah I can put 1 reserve spot in.
For amount of teams, I could try and get the 20 filled up with non-forum members if you guys think that would make it more exciting. If you wanna keep it small tho that's cool.

All those teams are real ppl. but you're right they aren't from the forums. I hope you guys don't feel invaded, just wanted to make it more interesting this year! Alot of them are from HFBoards (biggest hockey forum on the net), and one is my dad, LOL.
Yeah about the roster editing, that's totally my bad. When I was making the settings, I chose one where it described that you wouldn't be able to use a player you picked up until the following week. I chose it because it would eliminate ppl adding and dropping every week to get an extra man-game to gain an edge. But it seems like it freezes EVERYONE on your roster. A couple of days ago I finally figured it was from the settings I picked, but it wouldn't let me change them. SORRY!!!! :'(
But I do think they glitched it out for the opening, cuz this Match-up week counts as half of this week and all of next week, and I can edit the later half of this week fine, but was never at any point able to set my line-up for this week's Thurs-Sun.
