about 10 months ago or so there was rumors of Stat Quo getting dropped from aftermath. in early summer Busta Rhyms was dropped ( but his album will still be released), now in the same fashion as Busta was dropped( for talking to damn much and leaking songs that are uncompleted) Bishop Lamont has been added to the list. the people that passed the word to me are 100% accurate about this as they are very close with some aftermath people that don't know how to keep they mouths shut, but this is only a rumor until its made official from aftermath/interscope or by bishop him self ....

I guess the truth will be revealed but it is taking an awful long time for a CD....The longer it takes the more Bishop is likely to become just like Hitman, King T, and the list goes on......Aftermath is a strange place...You would think with the greatest hip hop producer of all time and all those other dope producers on staff that it would not take this long to put dude out there.

It wouldn't surprise me if true. Afterall, no dis to Bishop, cuz I'm a fan, but if they're gonna drop Busta, who has an already proven sales record in hip hop, it'd make sense that people who have never released an album before, especially in this present low sales climate are gonna go too.
There are only a handful of artists who are guaranteed to go Gold at least nowadays.
In the end though, all these new rappers need to grind in the streets and do the independent thing instead. Major labels aren't where it's at nowadays.

hard to say what to make of this. sounds like a dirty rumour but could easily be true. who woulda thought someone as easily marketable/street approved like busta would be dropped/leave the label...something is seriously wrong over there. just cause bishop is on detox doesn't mean he's definitely gonna drop an album on aftermath, he'd still be a part of the project if he wasn't on the label/didn't release an album like others already are.
did anyone see the last video bishop was on he looked a lil rattled about his own album throwing it out there that it might drop after detox but not really seeming very convinced himself and maybe even a bit frustrated about it. the facts are that it's gone from his album supposedly coming out this year/before detox and a single leaking to it now not coming out before detox. i reckon they are putting all their chips down on detox (which still wont come out this year) and canning everything else for the meanwhile.
maybe if bishop is featured on it heavily and probably more importantly if they (jimmy) give him the go ahead he'll still drop an album not too long after detox. with all the touring/promoting they are planning on doing it for detox though, it could still be up in the air for him. then you got the whole dre situation where understandably we don't know if he's gonna be feeling like getting all up in the spotlight so soon after his sons death, providing the music gets done and dusted as planned too...
gonna be interesting to see how it pans out but i dont think theres much hope for detox/the reformation in '08 any more. still fingers crossed for both albums to eventually drop and shake things up 8)

Why is anybody even surprised ? Look at the people that released albums in the past 10 years on Aftermath and who got dropped:
a) Released: Eminem, 50 Cent, The Game, Busta Rhymes --> other than Em, they're all your stereotypical gangsta rappers with a thug image with basic lyrics and subject matter
b) Dropped: King T, Rakim, Hittman.... ----> fall more into the backpacker mode, with more complex lyricsizm and different subject matter and not so marketable
It's not hard to figure out in which category Bishop falls into.

Even if Bishop Lamont were to be dropped from Aftermath, he could still be a lead feature for Detox. In the past, Dre enlisted a slew of non-Death Row/Aftermath artists to contribute to the the past 2 albums, so Detox won't be any different, imo.
Of course it wouldn't make sense for Dre to try pushing a lead feature on his album, if he ain't even signed to his label anymore? But nowadays, anything is possible given the climate that the industry is presently going through at the moment; downsizing, layoffs, etc.

I know the source thats posted this thread up and it comes from reliable cats in the industry...as he said its gotta be confirmed first by Aftermath until we all jump to conclusions...in saying that i like Bishop's music and always have but keeping it 100% real dude didnt have the buzz The Game had when he was doing the mixtapes before The Documentary dropped...i dont know why but dude got talent and i guess wit Dre's son dying and the buzz not that huge compared to Game maybe Aftermath thought it be best to part ways on a business tip...i mean The Game did it without Dre in the end coz he pushed shit hard and look at his success...so imma hope Bishop do the same if this is the case....
