there we go!
-
nice downloading when im coming home. the premo track was dope
-
SHIT IS FIRE
-
Can't listen until I get home tonight... will post my thoughts in here.
Looking forward to it!
-
can't find it! some1 pm me a link please...
-
Woah, this is really impressive after 1 quick listen. The tracks everybody feared; Southern Gangster is dope, Contagious is dope (really smooth Storch production) and that leaves us with the wack Plies track and Chirs Brown joint. Everything else is fire, production is on point and Luda really went in with the punchlines (I kept laughing while listening). The 2 biggest dissapointments are; a) Jay's flow on I Do It For Hip Hop is GARBAGE b) Ricky Ross didn't call himself the Boss throught the whole verse (wtf is up with that).
And Luda's intro's >>>>

I'm halfway now and I have to admit that this is way better than what I expected.
-
This album is very nice, dope tracks. The one with Weezey suprised me! in a positive way. Premo beat = dope as hell!!! I'm gonna support Luda on this one, for sure.
-
You guys are getting me waay tooo excited for this shit, i was up till 5 in the morning doing my research papers and i had no whiff that this shit leaked, 5 hours later i can't sleep.
-
i still don't think this is a solid cd from start to finish from luda, pretty much all over the place with production and guests. it's probably not meant to be cohesive though. tracks 12 & 13 are fire 8) the rest isn't too bad...
-
Great cd. I was very happy with this cd after the last Luda one. He dropped some crazy ass funny lines on this one!!! Great production too. Much rather listen to this than Kayne's cd
-
Im very impressed, I was expected an average release but Luda drops a solid record.
I feel almost every cuts, nice choice of beats but like every big names this year he drops an impersonal record, so many features
-
yessir bout to check this out
-
going to listen now..
-
only 2 (3) solo songs? but I'm still awaiting dopeness
-
I definetly agree with what a few people said; if you look at this track by track everything is dope but the album is all over the place, just like L.A.X. It's like nobody has the guts to carry an album by himself anymore, thank god for Nas.
My fav. track at the moment is Last Of A Dying Breed, Luda murdered it and Wyldfyer dropped a Just Blaze-ish beat. Wayne has a nice verse but his feature is unnecessary, I'd rather hear another Luda verse.
-
Dope album. I will be copping this...
-
lemme check this out...can somebody help me out? ;)
so, is it really good? lemme get some unbiased opinon!
-
^^^^ this is a consistent album , very surprising when it comes to that... I thought it would be your typical Luda album , 5-6 dope songs , rest trash but no ...
-
About people complaining about features...it sort of goes with the concept of the album. Each track is like a movie and every movie has to have a co-star (or co-stars).
-
^sounds good, cant wait to hear this.
yall see where my PM box is, you Luda link havers. ;)
-
bout to listen to this...anticipatin this after heard tht nas n jay track!
-
^sounds good, cant wait to hear this.

I don't mind. I actually prefer this to albums where there is a cohesive sound... cause eventually you just get bored with the whole thing. Too monotonous.
-
almost done my 1st listen..
-
^and...?
exceeding expectations?
-
yep..jammin concept album
-
This is a great album, really surprised me, gonna be the first ever luda album ive bought

Review.
1. Intro - 4.5/5 - sick ass intro and sets up nicely..
2. Undisputed - 4.75/5 - crazy lyrical track, loved it from the first listen
3. Wish You Would W/ T.I. - 4.25/5 - getting old now..many didnt like it, i like it, it's straight.
4. One More Drink W/ T-Pain - 4/5 - has grown on me..nice and smooth..comical 2..good for a mainstream track.
5. Call Up the Homies W/ The Game & Willy Northpole - 3.75/5 - don't see the big deal..Willy Northpole came straight though.
6. Southern Gangstas W/ Rick Ross & Playaz Circle - 3.5/5 - the beat is cool..2 bad rick ross sucks on this though..Playaz Circle was disappointing 2..
7. Everybody Hates Chris W/ Chris Rock - 4/5 - cool, but nothing at all groundbreaking 'bout this record..
8. What Them Girls Like W/ Chris Brown & Sean Garrett - 2.75/5 - been out for a while..1st single..horrible..what an awful, annoying hook..
9. Nasty Girl W/ Plies - 3.5/5 - god damn i hate swizzy lol..this beat ain't his worst, but still a whatever beat..expected this record to be a disaster, not as bad as i anticipated..Plies came ok..
10. Contagious W/ Jamie Foxx - 3.75/5 - beat real smooth, i like this shit..Jamie Foxx came correct on this hook..far from groundbreaking again though..jamie foxx verse was sick though..
11. Last Of a Dying Breed W/ Lil Wayne - 4.5/5 - this beat is fuckin hot..pretty hot song..
12. MVP - 4.75/5 - much love to luda for fuckin with premo who came dope..luda doesn't sound out of place at all..
13. I Do It For Hip-Hop W/ Nas & Jay-Z - 4/5 beat is cool, nothin special..cool though..Nas came straight..WOW what the fuck at the Jay-Z flow on this ??? underwhelming for the lineup..
14. Do the Right Thing W/ Common & Spike Lee - 4.75/5 - crazy beat..luda kills it..common merks it as usual..
after 1 listen, its ok, 6.5-7/10..problem is a lack of standout tracks and just nothing really groundbreaking; the following records are not bad songs, but have nothing special to them at all - Call Up the Homies, Southern Gangsta, Everybody Hates Chris, Nasty Girl, I Do It For Hip-Hop - Hopefully the bolded 1s can grow on me, cause i see the potential for that to happen
Contagious & 1 More Drink are solid mainstream friendly cuts; I know what them girls like is just awful.
Intro, Undisputed, Wish You Would, Last Of a Dying Breed, MVP & Do the Right Thing are the only 6 GOOD, standout songs..
-
Not as impressed as some of the first impression posters..
Some standout tracks, but too many poppy mainstream tracks and too many wack features.
Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Plies & Chris Brown = instant "next track" button.

exactly, album being way too hyped on here thus far; funny cause the biggest southern board i know (WOS) ain't feelin it really..the Wayne track is hot though.."southern gangsta" is avg as fuck (Cause Ross fucked it up and so did Playaz Circle, don't forget they wack ass feature - 2 bad cause the beat is HOT and luda killed it; 2/3 wack verses fucks it up though)..Plies track is avg as fuck..thought it would have been worse..chris brown song is god awful..

But your review said it was a very good or great album. That's how you rate the songs at least :-\
not to my standards..to me, tracks that are 3.5 or 3.75 are average..there are 5 songs that i rated that or lower..all avg..i rated "everybody hates chris" 4 but after another 2 listens to it, probably more of a 3.75..the nas/jigga track is extremely disappointing (although rated a 4)..thats 7 songs right there, more than half the cd..
-
alright, ima start listening...i'll prolly drop my thoughts tomorrow.

Mini Review
Intro is hot, but its his worst since Red Light District. possibly worse. 3.5/5
Undisputed with Money Mayweathers hot, lyrically just about every line hits. beat is cool too. 4/5
Wish You Would... the beat and luda are pretty meh. ti kills luda on his own song in retaliation for "on top of the world" 3/5
One More Drink is nice and laid back.. reminds me of some 90s rnb song though. its not as good as that one, whatever it is 4/5
Call Up the Homies is aight.. game and luda are just phoning it in imo. beat doesnt do much for me right now, but I'm pretty tired so I might like it more tomorrow. 2.5/5
Southern Gangsta zzzzzzz.......... Luda needs better beats. hes spittin, but it doesn't matter. whoevers talkin is corny as fuck. rick ross is just "there" 2.5/5
Everybody Hates Chris wow @ this hook  album is starting to really dip now... 2.5/5
I Know What Them Girls Like note: i dont like this song. but it has a certain something that all the songs before it didnt. the clapping is dumb, but this is a 3/5
Nasty Girl fuck, this beat is so repetitive. its not even good. completely forgettable 1.5/5
Contagious finally something that I'll be playing over. really nice jazzy beat. if you didnt know who it was, you would never guess jamie foxx was singing 4/5
Last of a Dying Breath hes spitting but the beat gets fucking annoying as fuck. at times it feels real epic, other times its just noise. waynes verse starts out real strong but then turns into bullshit. kind of like a parody of himself... the end is just rediculous. he cant be serious with that voice 3.5/5
MVP i love preme, but isnt one of his best beats. luda actually outshines it. 3.5/5
I Do It For Hip-Hop I posted my thoughts in that other topic, but I've been able to meditate on it now. The beat is nice; better than the preme beat before it actually. Luda commands the track with his voice; jay and nas sound old and tired in comparison. they arent rapping with conviction, they're just there. jay especially is bad. he tried to change it up and bring an old school flow, but... it just doesnt work. that said, 4/5
Do The Right Thang - Nothing special imo. wtfs up with comms flow? 3/5
Overall: That said, now that I've heard it - I gotta say this album does have a cohesive sound. Every beat has a certain feel to it.. I can't really describe it, but its this incomplete feeling. Something about the mixing, maybe. Lyrically, luda's back on his punchline game this album. Constantly entertaining, so if you don't mind a dip in beats it'll keep you entertained. The guest features don't hurt the album imo. There are some weak performances here and there, but luda commands every track. you never forget who you're listening to. After my first listen, I'm not anticipating much replay value, but we'll see how that pans out. As you can see from the review, not much stands out, and the album is by association very forgettable.
3/5
call me crazy, but I like release therapy more.
-

Doggystyle then. Is that a 9 or 10 out of 5? lol You're crazy for ratings like 2.75 for a song like What Them Girls Like. That can't possibly be more than 1/5.
-
the best tracks are
MVP
Undisputed
that Primo beat is so god damn hard, I had that on repeat all day
and Ludacris kills that Undisputed
the ones with TI and Game were dope too
-
Is he dissin Young Buck on Undisputed?
-
Is he dissin Young Buck on Undisputed?
or else you stuck with it, you'll get "Stomp"d so bad
you'll leave the scene thinkin eight Young Buck's did it
how the fuck is this a diss? "Stomp" is a track by Young Buck
do you even listen to lyrics, or do you just hear a rappers name and think it's an automatic diss?
idiot... fucking moron.... god I hate you.... fuckin shit god damnit, fuck
FUCK you're so stupid
-
I bumped this one time through earlier today and it sounded really fresh. Luda was on point with the lyrics and the features weren't to bad either.
-

I Do It For Hip-Hop The beat is nice; better than the preme beat before it actually.
I know everyone has preference but what fuckin planet are you from?
"I Do It for Hip-Hop" beat is better than "MVP"? that track bored the shit out of me, barely made it past the first verse
I agree with most of what you wrote about the rest though...

I don't know, I feel like people might be giving it extra credit just cause its premier
it doesnt match up to any of the beats he gave term
-
shit, i just peeped mvp on youtube and that shit is ill as fuck....it actually compelled me to check out the rest of the album, which i wasnt really planning on doing
-
I actually liked Release Therapy better.
-
Release Therapy was waaaaay better.. More subtance. This sounds like they tryed to make a generic single with each song. The best joint (where Luda spit like he should) was the Lil Wayne joint.. Killed the last verse...
Nothing worth keeping here, tho.. ???
-
i dk bout you guys (i guess you dont like it), but this is goood! 8)

agreed +1
-
Release Therapy only had Tell It Like It Is, War With God, Runaways Love, Slap and Do Your Time as track with substance and even half of these is questionable. But yeah, he definetly went more with the punchlines on this cd, which isn't a bad thing either. And he has tracks like Last Of A Dying Breed, MVP, Do It For Hip Hop and Wake Up.
But I do have to listen to it properly, I only had 1 quick skim through, didn't have the time yesterday and don't have it today. I'll bump it over the weekend to see what's up and how it compares to Release Therapy.
-
imo Release Therapy is better than peope give it credit for
yeah, it won a grammy, but in hip hop circles for some reason its looked at poorly
its easily his second-best lp, if not his best
-

of course you give it extra credit because it's Premier
it's Premier and Ludacris, something we've never heard, plus that beat is awesome
I couldn't ask of any better, that's exactly what I'd expect for this joint
guess people have different tastes... just surprising to see you kind of put it down, that's all I'm sayin
-
I always liked Ludacris but was never that big on him... this album is pretty dope but I'm still unsure if I'ma cop it cuz money is an issue right now
every track is pretty dope, the only ones I don't really fuck with are "What Them Girls Like", "Nasty Girl", and "Contagious"... the rest is bangin' 8)

I'm just saying, ALOT of the tracks have no coherent concept. It's like his FEATURES, it's good for one verse, cuz the punches and flow, but there is no concept so how can you listen to it for 3 verses??
Runaway Love, and Slap, the two songs with the most substance on Release Therapy, shit on almost all of these songs....
MVP with Premo?? It's punches.. WTF is he saying on this song? NOTHING. East coast cats (Well some of them) actually tell a story and message when they get on Premo beats...
-
^edited to include the intro bein hot..
Then how do you rate E. 1999 Eternal? 10 out of 5?
have yet to do the Bones disco..
Doggystyle then. Is that a 9 or 10 out of 5? lol You're crazy for ratings like 2.75 for a song like What Them Girls Like. That can't possibly be more than 1/5.
U haven't heard E 99?? Wtfffff download it right now soldier!
Ok let's look at this. Based on the 5 point system. 5 being one of the best songs you've heard in your Hip-Hop career. 1 being one of the worst songs.. 2.5 is the automatic "average" song.. So if you look at club songs, Wat Them Girls Like is certainly not the best club banger made, and it is pretty average. That's a good rating man.. If you want a 1/5 club song, check out that one by XL MIDDLETON.

But Ludacris is entertaining enough to keep you listening, unlike some other punchline rappers (Banks, Fab) that make you wana zzzzzzzzzz.

XL Middleton is good. What (song) are you talking about?
And about E. 1999... Once Lunatic listens to it, it'll cure him from his T.I. disease.

Difference of opinion there, I think Fab kills with his punches, lyrics-wise.. His flow can get monotonous tho I'll give u that, and Banks shouldn't even be mentioned..

Yep, E 99 will wake him up like E-40 was in his room..

I finally got a chance to listen to the album during this past few days. Despite loving it at the first listen, it quickly became clear that the album has low replay value. Here's a short review.
01. Intro 4,5/5
Luda's intro's are always top notch. This one doesn't dissapoint, flow is insane and some very nice punchlines. Cool beat from Runners too.
02. Undisputed 4,5/5
Some crazy shit right here. Song is filled with one dope punchline after another. Some people might say it lacks substance but imo Luda is one of the rare rappers that can actually get away with it because he's that much entertaining. Soulful production from Don Cannon and Flloyd Mayweather is nice addition and fits the concept of the song.
03. Wish You Would 2/5
Really average. From Toomp beat to T.I.'s and Luda's raps. I expected something much better from the 2 than just bragging about their wealth, they could've adressed their beef situation. The collabo track on Paper Trail is 10x better.
04. One More Drink 4/5
I didn't like at first but now I love it. Luda show his storytelling abilitys, T-Pain kills the hook (yep) and Trackmasters dropped a really smooth backdrop. The song and video kinda jack Obie's "Got Some Teeth" but whatever. Funny track too.
05. Call Up The Homies 4/5
Nothing special here subject wise but it works. Track is a banger, Clinton Sparks dropped a Dre-ish beat and it has a great bassline but it's too silent, Dre should've mixed it.
06. Southern Gangsters 2/5
Very boring. Luda killed his verse as always but everything else is meh. Rick Ross and Playaz Circle features are completley unnecesary.
07. Everybody Hates Chris 3/5
I still don't know what I think of this song. There's something annoying about it but I can't put my finger on it. So, I'm just gonna give it an average rating.
08. What Them Girls Like 1/5
Garbage. Annoying. Bassline is horrible. Concept already done like 1000 times. Luda and his first singles :'(
09. Nasty Girl 1/5
Even worse than the previous one. What the fuck is Luda thinking putting tracks like this on the album
10. Contagious 3,5/5
This one has a really nice jazzy vibe, with the smooth production and great chours from Jamie Foxx. The only problem is that it's one of those songs where you really have to be in that mood to listen to it.
11. Last Of A Dying Breed 4,5/5
Epic production and Luda killed it with punchlines in the first verse and emotions in the 3rd verse. Chours is also really fresh with Rakim sample. This doesn't get a 5/5 because Luda fucked it up by putting Wayne on it. He's not bad at all on this track but he is completley outshined by Luda who really went off on this track, so I really don't understand why he had to put Wayne on it.
12. MVP 5/5
Definetly my favourite record on the album. Classic Premo beat and scratches. Luda sounds like an Eastcoast Mc on this joint, crazy shit.
13. I Do It For Hip Hop 4/5
This track could've been so much bigger. The producer and Luda did their job but Nas and Jay dissapointed. Especially Jay with that garbage flow.
14. Do The Right Thing 4,5/5
Great way to end the album. I really like how the beat switches from horns to the christmasy flute. Luda and Common both do the track justice.
Overall 3/5: Another album from Ludacris that doesn't add up to his potential. Ludacris kept saying how he made this album because people don't put him in his top 5 or whatever. Well Luda, as long as you're gonna keep making forced tracks like 8 and 9 you don't deserve to be put in the list. I always thought the whole movie concept of the album he kept talking about was kinda corny. And I was right. It gave him an excuse to put so many features on it, which is definetly a big problem in todays rap album. Nobody wants to do an album on their own anymore. As far as substance and subjet matter: I don't really mind at all that Luda went completley crazy with punchlines on this one, like I've said before, he's definetly entertaining enough. And he never gets outshined, unlike Game who also has tons of features on his albums. So, the biggest problem remains low replay value, with the exception of 3,4 tracks.
