Title: LMAO @ this Shade Sheist's statement
Post by: Elano on December 29, 2008, 02:14:33 PM
I did about a good year of promoting off of that single when I was tapped by MCA Records to join their label in 2002. With them I produced one of the best West coast albums to release since the days of Doggystyle and All Eyez on Me.

he did drop a great fucking album. i would say his album and "knocs landin" were 2 of the best in a long time for the west coast. and both shade and knoc came up at the same time. hopefully some 'new west' artists can achieve similar goals.

It's a matter of opinion. And how was that album not one of the best West Coast releases after All Eyez On Me? He didn't say it's the best or in the top 5 or something like that. He just said it's one of the best. A lot of rappers these days are big headed and cocky but I don't consider that statement either.

If Informal introduction was at all a decent album it was due to production and features. Where I Wanna Be was successful due to Nates hook and Kurupt, it could have been any old nobody rapping a 16 on there with them and it would have done the same. also i havent seen any releases from Shade that werent filled with songs recorded at Baby Ree.....make something of your career without a guy that had radio pull at the time of your introduction and then you can say you are relevant.

Well to be fair...how much success did Shade Sheist have after him and Damizza split? The album was damn good but lets take our blindfolds off for a minute.

Shade coming under fire here. That album was above average , no doubt. Had some duds on it  too, though. The video was outstanding ( Money Owners ), and this album is a complement to the west catalogue for sure. It's not a classic for sure , but , like Knoc's albums , it never leaves my changer !!!!!

If you know my history then you know that Damizza and I spearheaded everything that eventually lead to our success..
but you haters are bitchmade and I will tell you why..

-Back in 98 Yall claimed I cheated the game because I partnered up with a cat who WASN'T EVEN THE MAN AT RADIO YET WHEN I DID <<
-But then yall wanna try to flip it now to make a point... apparently mad because my history can't be erased no matter wat (you) say.. lol..

What is the point of showing me an old Source article? I have ALL 3 framed. Mizz and I nearly drank and smoked ourselves to death out of celebration.
Don't I say in "Not From" - "..Power 30 Three Times? Yea, He Holdin It Down.."  ...?

>> It is obvious that some of you rely too much on hearsay to make your points.. which is typical.. nothing new.

--But let me ask you this:
How are any of you gonna tell me my business?

Furthermore, for all you who say you could've added any rapper to WIWB and made it a success.. THEN WHY DIDN'T YOU!?
I guess if any dancer would've moonwalked first they would be MJ right now, yea?

I feel what yall goin through.. been dealing with it since the days of Gangstaville.. anytime I show a lil confidence yall start crying..

Such is Life.. LMAO.

That's only obvious J..

But really wat they are tryin to do is stir up shit between Mizza and I, not knowing we are so far past that..
you will not get me to run down my list just so it seems like i'm sayin that other folx ain't doin sh*t like me..

In case yall failed to see the video.. we squashed that..
In case yall failed to download my USA Worldtape.. Mizza produced on it..

We work for our own respective companies but that bad blood has long but ceased..

If beef is what you want.. then you better find another artist..

If you just wanna hate because it's the trend.. by all means, do wat u do!

We need more hungry musicians like Shade. I never hear Shade  claiming sets like that mark Snoop , just grinding away. Why no REAL sophomore album ? The debut did solid as far debuts go , and was an outstanding effort in general.

"BTWBTH" was a real sophmore album.. it even released in different versions in different countries.

"What Would U Do" was the lead single.. and I once again charted on Billboard with no deal,
so history was about to repeat itself when unforseen circumstances caused a seperation in the company, yall know the rest...

Folks never fully recognized BTWBTH as my 2nd solo because I spilled the beans that half the lp was "II" leftovers, by why front on yall?

"PNLA" is my 3rd and final installment in my series of solo g-funk albums.

LOL, ok now I got somethin constructive to say.....

Yo Dinamo, you are a hater because your comments are snide, not constructive, or objectional....
You are being inherently negative with no evidential base to it.... AKA a hater.....

and for the record, I'm not a big Shade Sheist fan(I like ya music pimp, but I'll admit that I don't own any of it), but at this point I might become one just to spite you!

Don't hate, appreciate pimp... a true hustler knows when to pay attention and learn somethin so that he can advance and do better than his predecessors, Shade Sheist has proven that he can do that, and for that he gets much props from me....

As for anyone else who is a fan of his music (or in your words, a groupie) well.... what? you jealous? stop it... work harder and make them your fans (or in your words, groupies)...

Well.....imho his album is not a west coast classic, that's why i don't make a thread and compared the album with other TRUE west coast classics.
But since i'm "talking" with a #1 Billboard Charting Artist/International Indie Icon from Inglewood/one of California's most internationally-known artist,i must praise him 24/7,you know.... ::)

I've been in the studio (recently) with the majority of the rappers yall talk about in these forums,
I even have convinced some of them to come in here and talk to yall.. yes, even the idiots..

.... I've sat backed and watched yall poppin off about Glasses, Bishop, Crooked as so forth and so on...

I am however a huge westcoast rap fan though and maybe I haven't heard a lot from Shade Sheist but what I have heard I have not been disapointed with. With that being said I wanna say thanx to Shade for coming in here to talk to us fans and even the low life ass clowns that love to hate people. Do what you do best Shade and that is make that money and entertain people and how can you be mad at someone for doing whats best for them unless your just a bitch. Anyways good luck on the music thing. Peace

What strikes me is that so many rapper have the urge to tell how much money they make whenever a discussion about their music comes up. Sometimes I have the feeling they want to avoid a discussion about their music... It's the usual reflex for criticism
Of course, Elaine's thread was some cheap provocation and not to discuss music , but I wouldn't even repond...

I'll say it again..

If you've never done anything in this industry, you really have no place to do anything but form an opinion..
but with inaccurate information, you won't be able to make an educated one, thus making a debate with you pointless..

I assist other artists/producers/employees in this industry, so while you may not care for my music, I have influence over individuals that YOU DO like!
..so no matter what you feel, you won't stop hearing from me, so start getting used to it.

It's funny how I'm supposed to be this big talker and I'm so cocky blah blah yet everyone continues to ask me "How?"..
..if I was doing something wrong.. why would anybody want to know how I'm doing it?

Now I know as well as you all know that your points are biased and you just don't like me as a person,
but this is when I say "good thing you're not a relative then!"

My point: If you don't like me (or my music).. Don't appear interested..  Enterting a SS thread only shows that you care!

..and for caring, I will always Thank You!!

P.S. No matter when I dropped my last 'hit' single.. YOU HAVE NEVER DROPPED ONE, AT ANY POINT IN YOUR EXISTENCE!

im not hating SS .. i like some of ur songs... i respect ur hustle.. ur still known on the west..

its just that on a mainstream level.. since informal intro.. well nothing personal.. but u aint been visible worldwide.. granted u had a hit record and got worldwide exposure.. but id rather see the west coast as a major player in the hip hop.. with 4-5 big hitters coming out every year goin multi-plat.. where is the west's equivalent of TI, Kanye, Lil'Wayne?? i mean like in the 21st century all we've had really is The Game as a new rapper whose comin out and goin multi platinum.. even now since Dre stopped fuckin wid him.. his beats have gone downhill..

i mean like outside the west people are like "what happened to Knoc and sheist?" .. these are people that actually liked "where i wanna be" or "the knoc ft missy"... what we wanna see is artists with longevity  :)

NORTH AMERICA
SOUTH AMERICA
THE UNITED KINGDOM
JAPAN
TAIWAN
CANADA
GREECE
SPAIN

Just some of the countries I have and continue to perform in..
..that looks to be about.. hmmm.... ALL OF THE MAJOR ONES!

so yeah.. I aint really been visible worldwide.. I just have toured more than every other WC artist outside of Snoop.  ;D
(would've said Tech9ne but then yall would say "he ain't westcoast" lmao)

2). Every single I dropped while mainstream charted on Billboard. "Where I Wanna Be" was the biggest.
You only refer to WIWB yet "John Doe" and "Wake Up" acheived a very similar success
as did "Money Owners" and "What Would U Do"..

We could also talk about 'Shady Montage' but some of you weren't even born yet!

**And I'm Not Bragging.. Just Stating The Facts.. Cause You Asked For It**

and furthermore.. I've never wanted the title you speak of..
as I stated on my track "I'm Still Here" - "I ain't tryna to be the King but I'm cool with being close."

I'm not no Westcoast savior.. I just do my part to ensure the West reaches outside of the USA.  That's it.

I don't see what's wrong with that statement. Other than couple of albums from Xzibit, Game and Eastsidaz I can't think of any better albums. I bought it back in the 02 I think and it was money well spent. I don't think Shade is anything special lyrically but he is a good songwriter, like 50 or Snoop, he knows how to make hits. That statement about replacing any other rapper with him on Where I Wanna Be is completley retarted. Last time I heard him was on Lights Out and it looks like he still got it.

Anyways, what's this "BTWBTH" I keep hearing about ?

Very true.

The thing folks don't realize about me is that I am a true artist in every sense of the word.

-I don't just get a beat cd and then rap on top..
-I work with my producers, I co-produce..
-I choose my guest appearances based on who ( I ) think would sound best on a track..
-I mix myself or sit in on both the mixing and mastering sessions..

I learned from the best from watching the best. Dr.Dre, Dj Quik, Timbaland, Teddy Riley, Nate Dogg,
all of them gave me constructive criticism I still use to this day to better myself..

I might come off a bit braggadocious but I'm a cat that's been around these parts since 93..
I just feel blessed.. Sue Me!

I did it more as 'Shady Montage'.. one track I recorded with Lord G, "Real Street Blues" stands out..

Constructive Criticism:

I bought the album Informal Introduction and I really liked it mainly cause of the features and the production.

When I first heard Shade Sheist , I was like this cat is cool , laid back flow , im feeling it.

But after a while it got on my nerves.

Shade´s flow is like hes hiding a secret. Always whispering, like a spy-rapper.

I'ma add to your's since your's is almost like mine:
I think he's got talent (possible mainstream appeal, more than crooked but less than game)
but like you mentioned main reasons I was feelin his album is cuz of the features and production.
IMO he choose a bad single, and that shit was str8 up jus a bad song.  but then again the album didnt really have a commercial hit on it as some would say.
as for his style-I mena its unique and some fans like it, some dont.  I think he can spit and I'd say he's better than Damizza as a rapper on rapper comparison.

it would be better to go independent after uve released a few non-independent albums i.e Cube ..

now whilst game gets less per CD.. becos of the greater exposure .. he can make money thru other ventures which can make u probably more money then rap.. ie acting, video game, sneakers, clothing line...

look at like Will Smith & Ice Cube, in some of there recent films theyve probably made more money then in royalties for all of there rap careers especailly when u consider the the fact that Smith & Cube direct/produce/write/co-write in many of their films too..

Rappers on majors barely make money off record sales. Tours, merchandise, etc. is important for their pockets. They should be happy with a few cents per sold unit.

Independent rappers get like 5 to 9 bucks per sold unit, depending on their contract(s). Internet sales make them more money than physical sales. Go figure.

You can get it digitally or purchase a DOD physical disc of it from: www.PutYourselfOut.net (http://www.PutYourselfOut.net)

as for sales, you are pretty much correct.. The majors will leave you with $1 a unit (what I got for II)..
Independently however, depending on the project, I can earn anywhere from $5 (minimum) to $9 (maximum)..

BTWBTH and NUNETIME brought us the most operational capital we ever seen in 2005 and then the
06.06.06 free release of "GTA3" caused a relapse in sales of both.. providing for the 2007 year.

The beauty of independent sales is that even years later.. you still collect that $5 a unit, not the typical $1..
so I can still promote an older release and end up with unexpected change just cause a new interview released or
somebody was talking about me in a store, on the forums (lmao) etc..  Majors stop promoting after a "cut-off" point..

Indie has no "cut-off"... Indie has no real rules, for that matter!

...and indeed the trick is to gain mainstream appeal and then go independent..
It is for this reason I am able to keep touring internationally while most other artists are stuck in their backyards!

PUT YOURSELF OUT.

I have answered this but it's all good..
This is Dr. Dre we are talking about.. so if you can't mention one you can't mention any!

a typical disclosure agreement lasts upwards 10 years.. just FYI..
Publishers commonly use them to protect publishing information..
in some instances you may receive a performance fee and sign a confidentiality agreement in return for your work.

man a lot of your fav. artists on the west (and PERIOD) are struggling to make ends meat in the industry right now...this guy is on his fucking grind why can't anyone respect someone's hustle...this guy is touring, making music, etc. ...  and making a living off of this shit...the guy has a lot of industry knowledge telling by his posts and just off knowing his past....man a few of you guys hating would be better trying to network with dude instead of trying to hate so hard lol

all i know is i'd sure like to be touring the world doing what i love and making cash...even if it was decent cash...

anyways...the guy is at least coming in the forums and providing us all with some entertainment....thats more than even some of my fav. artists who have more time to waste and are prolly making less money...lol

thanks mang!
