Dubcnn: That’s deep…. real deep. Earlier [in the interview] you said something like Snoop actually started out at Ruthless?
Yeah, he did, he was brought to us by Warren G – Warren G used to sleep on my floor, he used to always tell me about this kid named Snoop, I said we’ll reach out, man, you know what I’m saying, lets give him a call, so Snoop came, he reached out, he’s incredible, you know and so we started developing some ideas for Snoop. What happened in the situation was the camp broke up. They ended up deciding to go with Dre; we ended up deciding to stay at Ruthless, so there it is.
Dubcnn: I never knew that part of the story…
That’s real talk. He [Snoop] was always around and Dr. Dre came and asked me what I thought about him, he said I’m thinking about fucking with dude, what do you think about him? I was like, he’s incredible, he can pop out freestyles like crazy, you know what I’m saying, I’d fuck with him, he’s like oh, ok.
He was already on the wire, I tell you the truth, he was already on the wire.
If you notice, if you look at the Deep Cover soundtrack I have music on the Deep Cover soundtrack as well as Snoop.
That’s another thing; I was supposed to be on the Deep Cover record. They just imitated my voice.
That’s why he say it like that “cause it’s 187 on an undercover cop”.
You know, it’s time for the truth to be told, I know it’s gonna hurt a lot of people but it needs to be told.

From the public access show STREETFUNKTV. Snoop and Dre's first and only time they performed at The legendary Tunnel in New York (1999).

Deep Cover was classic but 187um is like the perfect remix so.... too hard to pick
-
I have to go with "Deep Cover", even though both are classics.
-
Remix. Isn't that OG more clean?
-
187um
-
Deep Cover & 187um is the same track. Yes some words are flipped around to take out swearing but thats what artists did back then to to take out the anoying spaces.
Deep Cover= Radio Version aka no swearing
187um= Explict Version
187um is my favorite version because it's 187 on a mother fucking cop!
-
that's a tough one, as these tracks are one of the best Dre & Snoop collaborations to me 8)
i think i'll go with 187um, as it's a little harder 8)
-
187um
-
man i got a story to this track man, me & my mates wer watchin the deathrow dvd i bought, extra features wer the deep cover video, me & the homies wer like damn this is the shit, this trak is always in my rotation for many years now.
then i came across 187um and i was like shit man whats better? hard decision but i think i got to giv it to 187um.
-
I gotta go with Deep Cover just because of the significance of the song. But 187um was a hell of a remix. Snoops last verse is crazy
-
Deep Cover, thre birth of a new star, The re-creation of another & The start of an era. 8)
(had to be there to understand it, the song was in rotation like "everyday"
-
deep cover. can any one upload the song for me 8)
-
Deep Cover, the birth of a new star, The re-creation of another & The start of an era. 8)
Couldn't have said it any better +1
-
Deep Cover is obviously the more significant tracksince it created Snoop and started Dre's solo career. But in terms of the song itself, 187um by far. The lyrics are harder, the bass/piano is deeper and the high-hats are sickk.
-
well big puns version shitted on all of em. he fuckin killed it with that "ill leave u dead in the middle of little italy..." thats probably the illest rhyme scheme ive ever heard.

Deep Cover= Radio Version aka no swearing
187um= Explicit Version
I think you need to listen to em´again... ;) (you must have the radio version:P ,both versions is posted above ;))
First off Deep Cover is explicit ;)
Then parts off 187um got new lyrics, the piano hits harder and new bass.... so... ;)
Ok I will. I'm gonna dig up the original paper back cd single of the track from the Deep Cover sound track that I've had from when the song came out. I know the lyrics are different but never caught on how the sound is different...

Deep Cover, the birth of a new star, The re-creation of another & The start of an era. 8)
Couldn't have said it any better +1
word.but i still go with 187um ;D
-
never liked the original deep cover version, but for some reason i always though 187um was the original one.
-
well big puns version shitted on all of em. he fuckin killed it with that "ill leave u dead in the middle of little italy..." thats probably the illest rhyme scheme ive ever heard.
no it did not . without snoop doggs & dr dre's version ,big pun would have never made the song ever . the original is always better then a remake . remakes are a unoriginal & makes the artist who did the remake unoriginal.
-
It's the original for me. I remember Dre saying that he hated this track, but Snoop convinced him to put it out. Snoop's last verse on the remix is an RBX verse, right?
-
I can't decide. I like em both.
Deep Cover for what it has done introducing Snoop Dogg, a new type of era, etc.. as Hatesrats said.
187um on the other hand is more gritty and hard hitting.
I'll go with 187um. 8)
-
Deep Cover
-
the instrumental of either is still inspirering enough to make me wanna go make a beat!! 8)
I like the 187um better, but the OG flows so nicely. :-\
-
it dont include the big pun verseion plus it has stupid options below it
my poll is better
if you say so ;)
Chad Vader, stop being a dick to people, this is a 12 year old thread and has those lame options below the 2 songs + no big pun song
