Yesterday, I spoke with legendary Fort Worth rapper, former Dr. Dre protoge, and world renowned lyricist - The D.O.C. The D.O.C. wanted me to give y'all guys a tidbit on Voice Through Hot Vessels. A little while ago, The D.O.C. stated that he planned on having other rapper rap his lyrics on his last album like what took place on his collaboration album with Six-2 entitled Deuce. However, that isn't the case anymore. Thanks to modern science, The D.O.C. is making a return to the mic with his actual voice in check. No, not the raspy one that we all love as well, but the one the West Coast remembers. After Detox is finished, The D.O.C. is having surgery done to get his voice back and come back for one more album which we have all have wanted for the longest time. The D.O.C. told me to spread this around, and I hope you do too because The D.O.C. is one of the best MC's to EVER touch the mic. Stay tuned to West Coast Aftershock for the latest D.O.C. news as well as DubCNN because you guys show him as much love as we do.

Well, apparently WeFlyHigh confirmed it. WeFlyHigh works with Snoop and all them, so I don't doubt his credibility.

"Ruthless" is definitely a good read, and I do believe what he said there. Sounds like D.O.C. just couldnt be fucked and was too busy drinking, smoking and partying

Props to DOC. I always wondered if he was ever going to attempt to have the surgery done, but better late than never. It would have been sick if could have laid down some vocals on "Detox," but I'll be excited just to hear him period.

DOC had all the tools . .the golden voice,lyrics,flow,storytelling. . in terms of raw talent he is top 5 all time. If he didn't lose his voice he would have had been one of the most successful rappers ever. Hes also a really funny guy. i think he could have crossed over like Cube did and made comedy movies. If this news is true .. and he is able to recover his golden voice, this could be huge for old school westcoast fans.
Imagine if after Cube left NWA he went to jail for 20 years. . and just got released and planned on making a new album..there would be a lot of buzz from old school fans. This could be a similar situation. And if all goes well and he gets his voice back. . im sure Dre would produce a few songs for him .. and i dont think anyone in hip hop history had better chemistry than the Doc and the Doctor.

yeah it's strange; i know that DOC said in an interview ( thaformula if i remember correctly) that Eazy-E & Jerry Heller encouraged him to keep rapping.
but DOC never spoke on why he didn't go and from what i know, he doesn't like to speak on it, so i guess we'll never know.

Yeah I enjoyed Helter Skelter as well. The lyrical content was there and the beats were knockin. The whole voice thing yeah it may turn most off to his music, but like Dre said earlier, I thought on alot of tracks that Erotic D especially did a good job of matching his vocals well with the beats. If I was put on the spot and had to rank it, I would give it a 4 out of 5.
