I'm not familiar with this guys music, but since Timbo produced the whole thing I checked it out. Kinda interesting and not bad actually. I liked it at the first listen

it's like one long track: an entire album in just six weeks, notably with the conceptual direction of "tying it all together musically", which Cornell describes as " back to albums that I listened to when I was a kid, where the music never stops" and that it "begs to be listened to on headphones all the way through".

I checked out the song Scream, it's not good at all.
-
fuck, this came outta nowhere lol

Chris Cornell has been a promunet figure in music for over 20 years.I'm sure you've heard his music hundreds of times without realizing it.he was the lead singer of soundgarden and audio slave as well as a solo artist.his voice isn't quite what it used to be though.I'm curious to see what this sounds like anyways

Not for The Vault crowd though.. http://www.dubcnn.com/connect/index.php?topic=206212.0

Yup Cornells made some dope shit, when are they gonna start promoting this album though?
-
I'm very skeptical of this formula, but will be checking it later tonight.
-
The albums isnt too bad.
-
I prefer the backing tracks for Cornell's voice to sound like this;

All I hear from Scream is a pretty good Justin Timberlake album.
Ok, I get it, Soundgarden is gone. Adioslave was ok at best, and his solo efforts weren't very good. But his acoustic show was amazing. He should stick to that for now. I'd prefer a bunch of acoustic covers of pop songs, like Billie Jean, to this Timbaland shit.

i like the cd its solid and cohesive production throughout. rare thing for any music these days. here's a bonus to go with it from an earlier vinyl promo:

I like a couple songs from this guy... I'll have to check it out eventually
-
I dont know if I can be bothered. Soundgarden days he was pretty good but the last I heard from him wasnt so good :-\

Exactly i have this album since a couple of week and i gotta admit that it's pretty good ;)

But it sounds just like every other Timbaland produced dance album released in the last couple years. It's like it was recorded at the same time as Furtado's Maneater.
-
Refreshing? It's just a producer bringing down a talented singer to the mainstream pop level. It's degrading.
-
I liked him in the soundgarden days. He has a hell of a voice , maybe one of the top ten hard rock voices ever, but the sad part is that he knows it too.
-
hit me on the pm for further discussion of this album ;]
-
Not feeling it... I don't like the vibe, it sounds too generic.. I want more a rock production from Chris Cornell, not something so urban. Props to him for trying something new though...
-
always been a cornell fan....but timbaland? im not in a hurry to check this out

I AGREE....
For example, "Enemy" starts out really soulful but upbeat. Which was what I think they were trying to capture. It's good until it gets to the chorus, where the beat starts double-time to give a dance/party atmosphere that totally ruins the song. Chris also has to match that tempo in his singing and lyrics, which sets the song in a totally different "mainstream pop" direction...
Assuming Chris let Timbo guide him thru this album, I will blame the producer for this effort turning out "half empty/half full", when it could have been a really good crossover album. This is where we see just how versatile certain producers are, when they try to do "different" projects but still sound the same.....
The cover of this album shows Chris smashing his guitar.. I hope that is not the case.

thats your opinion and i respect it.
I still like it though ;)

That's the thing though... this album isnt really what I expected. If you forget that it was Timbo helming the project, and just pretended it was "generic pop producer #42", well then there you go.
It sounds really watered down. The atmospheric "mood music" from the past is gone. You'd expect it to be replaced with a more sonic, banging electronic soundscape thanks to Timbo but its just, well, generic pop shit. Every song has potential, but its never reached. That's what happens when you wrap an album up in 6 weeks (or whatever it was). Music needs to marinate. A delayed album is eventually good. A bad album is bad forever.

I know it sounds like every other Timbaland produced shit, the whole album sounds like 1 track, but it's not timbo that's make this shit refreshing it's the combo of tim and chris, Rap & Rock
This album is a lot better than timbo doing solo stuff,
so i still think this shit is refreshing
-
ok, I wanna hear this. Who's willing to pm me? :halo:
-
Couple of cool tracks, that's it.
-
Bumpage on this one..
I didn't like this after the first initial listens, but now, a couple weeks later, I gotta say it's grown on me a lot.. 8)
Since nearly all of the tracks change up at some point, it sounds more diverse than on the first skimming-through..
-
very listenable album. i like it.
-
i couldn't find an actual GROUPRIP... somebody hit me up wit a link 8)
-
HOOK IT UP.. EVERY LINK I'VE GOTTEN SO FAR IS DEAD.... SO HOOK ME UP PLEASE....

-

-
can someone hook it up.. every link I have found is dead

Well I bought the album a couple days ago.I'm a huge Cornell fan and own all soundgarden and audio slave albums and his first solo album.for whatever reason I still have gotten around to buying his second solo. The first listen through I wasn't quite sure what to make of the album. As a Cornell and timbo fan at first I was dissapointed But I've listened to it about ten times through now and I love it.This isn't meant to be listened to one song hear and there its a complete album.each track flows so smoothly into the next one and before you know it the album is over with no need to skip a song.I throw on my dre headphones and put it on repeat.Don't judge the album first listen let it grow on you.
-
From what I've read timbo wanted to take the album in a more rock direction and chris said no
-
Have they even promoted this album at all? With a single or vidoe? Haven't seen mention of this anywhere, didn't even know it dropped
-

It had like 4 singles an none of them did all that well :-\. This album should've been out a long time ago, when there was a decent buzz.
-
Anyone know how many units it sold?
-
Saying Chris Cornell's Scream is a grower of an album is an insult to true album growers.
-
Go kill your family and then yourself
-
PM please :D
chill
-
Lol I was just joking.
