Post by: Kurupt1607 on March 03, 2009, 05:30:45 AM: I don't know if someone already made a topic about it... anyway this one will collect all things about french hip-hop, for the beginning i will post some recent and new songs and with the time i will post more old:

Mister R.O.H.F.F. aka Housni is one of the best and more creative french rapper at this time, this dude made freestyle at the Wake Up Show, he has collaborated with The Game (but not in same studio), Junior Reid and he got beats from Denaun Porter (surely one of his best song), J.R. Rotem...

His last album is very dope, it was 1/2 years french rap was the same thing (I talked about the lyrics especially, all albums have Dirty South tracks...) and Rohff back in the game with many bangers, dope lyrics and fuckin punchlines.

So 2 tracks from his last album "Le Code De L'Horreur" (Horror's Code in english??), the two first tracks are bangers especially the second:

Yes MC Solaar is part of the french rap foundation, he did a collabo with Guru on a Jazzmataz project, it's not one of my favorite (maybe because his stuff is more old...) and his lyrics are more in a poet way.

La Saga is one of the best collabo between US and french rapper, the beat is produced by Imhotep & DJ Kheops.

The other song with Method Man and Redman is produced by Akhenaton (one of the IAM emcees who produces his beats too...).

In 2007 they have a new album called "Saison 5", they didn't have a lto of sucess but the ablum was not bad:

Malekal Morte will never make an album, for the reason they have split a long time ago... One has stopped rap, and two others are in Booba's label, the album Of Mala is coming soon, it's called "Himalaya"

Despo' Roots > one of the fuckin' best emcee of the new generation, the EP from him is really hot (lyrics and beats) and his first album will come very soon !

U can easily say that Minister Ämer (from collective Secteur Ä), the whole collective Mafia K'1 Fry ('African Mafia', Rohff, 113, Kery James, Intouchables, ect, ect) were mostly influenced by U.S West Coast gangsta rap, which is recognizable in this opus^^.

Whereas another part of french rap were ont the other hand most influenced by U.S. East Coast type of music, listen to "L'Ecole Du Micro D'argent" by IAM, & all of the solos that followed by members of that collective.

There was likely a competition which sometimes turned relatively in beefing between the North & the South ---> Paris & its area (from where Mafia K'1 Fry, Lunatic, Secteur Ä, Doc Gyneco, etc,) & Marseille (IAM, Fonky Family, & now Psy 4, etc).
Makes me remember of a true story from Sat (member of Fonky Family) who turned it into a song on one of his album: he was in USA, chilling in streets (don't remember the town though) & making shopping, & he like was assaulted by FBI. Police just mistook him with a latino gangmember that was subject of a warrant or something like that.

& Don't forget about Dadoo (from KDD (?) don't remember the group, lol) who got a nice style & really can spit ish.
