Eminem officially announced the street date of his eagerly awaited new album; his first original studio album in over four years. Relapse will be released on May 19 on Interscope/ Aftermath/Shady. The first single from the album and its accompanying video will see a simultaneous release on April 7.
Anticipation for Relapse has been building since the fall, when Eminem first announced the album title and debuted the freestyle, "I’m Having A Relapse" during an interview on his Shade 45 satellite radio station. Last month, the release of "Crack A Bottle" from Eminem, Dr. Dre and 50 Cent brought that anticipation to a head. The track soared to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and set a SoundScan record for opening week download sales (418,000). The recording ranked third in the history of all weekly download sales. "Crack A Bottle" will be included as an album track on Relapse.
With the announcement of the release date for Relapse also comes confirmation of something that had been rumored in recent weeks: Eminem is already working on a follow-up album, "Relapse 2", that fans can expect in the second half of 2009. "A lot of people were expecting Relapse to drop last year," said Eminem. "I was one of them. Then Dre and I went back in the studio in September for a few days, and that turned into six months. We were on such a roll; we wound up with a ton of new music produced by Dre. Putting out Relapse 2 will let everyone get all of the best stuff."

Crack a bottle was aight. It was better than some of his other recent singles (FACK, Shake that ass, just lose it etc) but compared to singles like Encore, Mosh & toy soldier i thought it wasnt as good. dope that hes doing 2 albums mostly produced by dre. let the show riole on...

Nope I didn't mean it like that. I have no problem with him being real and showin himself on the songs. There were some good "real" songs on encore, but all this voice twisting and silly songs need to be cut off. I don't want more songs like just lose it & ass like that and so on. Puke was funny to me though. I actually bumped the bonus CD more than the actual cd haha. We as americans & love you more should have been on the album.

Why a relapse 2 all of a sudden?
Some of the possible reasons could be that they did create a bunch of good tracks but interscope wanted some garbage on it so instead of letting the good shit go, they decided they'd split in between two albums and make sure the good shit comes out. Another reason is interscope are really trying to whatever worth eminem has left to its fullest because lets be real, if eminem aint selling for interscope, aint no hiphop artist selling. Ofcourse they could actually be speaking truth and that eminem and dre made so many good tracks that they could ot fit them all on one album and decided to split it into two whilst working on the second album still. Though if they had so much good material for relapse, why not make a double album. It would have looked good for his numbers too.
Crack a bottle is an average track and i cannot stand the hook and eminems voice on it. However im convinced dre and eminem will come up with way better shit than that for the album. I do hope he aint still speaking shit about kim and his mom and tries to develop as a hiphop artist but we'll see. Encore was so terrible i really cannot expect much from eminem anymore.
Bring detox, the leaks from that have been better than anything else thus far imo.
That all being said, an eminem album is always an exciting time and we'll hear a new track come april which is always exciting!...i wonder what we can expect! lol...either the usual bullshit first track which have generally got worse with each release or we'll get a fresh twist on an emimen first single.

Word but who knows, if the shit about dre and eminem spending about 6 months in a studio is true, it'll make eminem act like a fulltime rapper again and dre will make sure he is on game. But whos to tell dre he is on game too...and will they really push either like they did back when both had youth hunger.

well put, but if that's the case and the reason for them releasing two albums is because they want to see em's worth still...it'll mean that both albums will be riddled with sub par tracks which sucks...double albums are usually a bad idea, but we'll see...i'm going to try to stay optimistic, but crack a bottle initially didn't sit very well with me, but it's grown on me a bit...still isn't that classic dre and em formula, on top of that 50 sucked on it,

Yeah Em was so wack on Encore that I'm skeptical that this is gonna be dope. That freestyle and "Crack a Bottle" were a step in the right direction so maybe there's hope.
