Title: Job's Jook Joint [soul, funk, jazz, and classics]
Post by: Job starring as King Of Zamunda on March 19, 2009, 11:38:53 AM
(http://www.freewebs.com/zawadi1/juke_joint%5B1%5Dpuzzle.JPG)
Juke joint (or jook joint) is the vernacular term for an informal establishment featuring music, dancing, gambling, and drinking, primarily operated by African American people in the southeastern United States. Classic juke joints found, for example, at rural crossroads, catered to the rural work force that began to emerge after Emancipation.[1] Plantations workers and sharecroppers needed a place to relax and socialize following a hard week, particularly since they were barred from most white establishments by Jim Crow laws. Set up on the outskirts of town, often in ramshackle buildings or private houses, juke joints offered food, drink, dancing and gambling for weary workers.
Have a beer, relax, dance and enjoy yourselves!
That being said lets get into it.

Ahh, paying homage to "Q's Jook Joint" I see...

However, most of the artists you guys put up postdate the juke joint era.

http://www.youtube.com/watch/v/Inq5UNsqZYc

http://www.youtube.com/watch/v/yGsAh2jx6JA

Examples of acts that traveled the juke joint circuit.

Anyways, nice thread on 70's R&B. The genre definitely ranks high within my favorite kinds of music.

Until then,

I KNOW you listening to this. Yesssireee word.

I believe hip-hop creates language and ways of talking, expression and also words; as language describes reality it also provide a new dynamic to thinking.

Christ conspiracy? Makes sense....I guess. There could have been many Christs...but they were not all called Christ:
they may have all had different historical names and all cultures have a Christ principle in culture throughout history....but of course its not all-ways called the 'Christ' principle. A certain type of Christ the embodiment of holy humanity. Maybe this is one reason why we don't bother arguing over who 'Christ' actually was. Because at the end of the day we all think 'he could be black' and that is what is important, but also it is a wonderful paradox because we then understand well: that is not really all that mattered isn't it!?  :)

I do believe there was somebody called Christ or Jesus. Not that it entirely matters on what his name even was, let alone.

IMO alot of people believe in many things at all points in their life. But once the people are united its on! That is why I believe whatever you call it: humankind should flourish upon this World. Because it is right. It must! We gotta out-last the dinosaurs yall!

Something like Jesus, when he civilize older men
The math that shed light, all across the borders
As our wisdom is the vast expanse of fresh waters..

-The GZA., DJ Muggs: 'Illusory Protection'.
Grandmasters

EDIT* p.s this is what happens when I post high.^  ;)

Upon sober listen that Malcolm intro is profound and hilarious. Good compilation, alot of tracks I've already heard but its in a great context. I love that track the Birth. Pain language.

Yeah classic conservative white suburban yuppie asshole that has no hope of getting in bed with their wives music. I hate when the first artist someone comes up with is fucking Kenny G when someone brings up jazz in a conversation or something. How could anyone even classify that as jazz let alone classify it as anything other than shit. More like projectile diarrhea.

I was going to contribute but fuck this.

^^ I get what you're saying, most Jazz Fans get in rage when they hear the  name Kenny G   To say he is one of the best is like saying Bush was the best president in history.
On a siednote, I like some Smooth Jazz from time to time (Grover Washington Jr. etc), but I rather prefer some classic 50s/60's jazz 8)

I was going to contribute but fuck this.
yo eye have no control over the corny white people here. if eye did eye would have been deleted that post. but contribute though. that the only way to counter the corny shit
