As we previously reported, Warren G is gearing up to release his new album "The G-Files" soon. While the first single "Crush" featuring Ray J started getting played almost a year ago, the follow-up single was picked and just sent in to blast out the Dubcnn readers. This one is called "Mr. DJ" and it sets the tone for the upcoming album. As Warren G said in our exclusive interview a few weeks ago: "It's an incredible project, it's music you can dance to, sing to, smoke to and just enjoy yourself. It's not an album with just a bunch of sad songs, it's a party album."
Dubcnn has the song available for you below. Download or stream the song in the audio player:
Warren G - Mr. DJ
Stay tuned for more news on "The G-Files". Also be sure to check out our interview with Warren G if you missed it.

damn this is not the warren g that i wanna hear.
the beat is :-X
-
Tracks sucks donkey dick. >:(
-
the track aint that bad.
its alot better than crush, lol.
the track is cool, but is not the typical westcoast gfunk sound we want to hear, but since its a single, i guess he's tryin to appeal to the eastcoast aswell. also atleast its not some gay bubblegum shyt like crush.
thats cool, just as long as the album is mainly westcoast gfunk style.
i believe warren will come with an overall dope album, so i'll definately be lookin forward to it.
will definately be pickin up the album. i heard another cut from the album, and it was pretty dope.
-
thats cool, just as long as the album is mainly westcoast gfunk style.
i doubt.
there's no more funk left in warren
-
Props jay!
-

i doubt.
there's no more funk left in warren
dont judge until you see the album drop tho.
for now, we've only heard singles, and singles are supposed to be mainstream appealing/radio friendly.

the last album was mainly gfunk style in your opinion ?
his last "gfunk" single is from return of the regulator (and it was produced by dr dre if i'm not wrong).
-
yeh, his last album wasnt that good, but it had a few dope cuts.
i believe warren'll come alot better this time
-
I like "Crush" way better. I bump "Crush" all the time, I love the bass on it and I love Ray J on that hook. I think this "Mr. Disc Jockey" song is okay but doesn't carry much replay value. I listened to it 3 times and it already feels old. I want to hear a club jam as the first single or a laid-back cali track.
-
lol it seems like Warren G tries to reinvent himself, but fails.
for now, In the Midnight Hour > G-files
-
i don't know what happened between The Return Of The Regulator and the Mid-nite Hour album,he went from bangin beats (the return of...record) to embarassing attempts to sound different and innovative :(
-
What the hell is this? ;D
-
One question...IS THAT WARREN RAPPING?????????? ???
-
^^
yeh it is. who else would it be, lol
-
Warren should work on a collabo album with the almighty Nate dogg, tour with him all over the world to promote the record and call it a career.
http://www.youtube.com/v/NY8UD-eLIfw
I know he can do it again with nate, their chemestry is incredible and together they are secondo to none
I got cd single of "Nobody does it better",and believe me just the instumental is one of his best works ever.
-
doesn't even sound like G, this song is shit
-
Did Warren, do a pitch shift on his vocals???
The record sounds like it come straight from a vinly-a very bad one... :-\
Can we get this re-up again??
The Beat may not be g-funk,but i like it!
I want to know what sample he used on this record!
-
Congrats. Warren finally reached the puberty.
-
I really like the instrumental,it's cool, but WTF is up with his voice? Maybe it should be played faster?? I'm confused... ???
-
^^
its the streaming of the song that is making the sng come out weird.
download the track instead

I did. But he voice is still too low, like he doubled weight since the last time I heard him. Still the instrumental is dope.
-
nah come on, is that really warren g rappin???
beat is not that bad, but doesnt sound like its from 2009
-
this is a sad attempt to sound like just blaze/early kanye west (pay attention to the beginning of the beat....).

warren and nate both give their best when they are together no doubt..
but we don't know if at the moment nate dogg can sing..

if we have to listen to some wack songs like "crush" and this new one.....i prefer to wait nate dogg
-
i thought it doesnt even sound like warren g. his voice sounds deeper on this track.
-
Gotta say I'm not really feeling the track. And I didn't like Crush either, not looking good for the record.
And what the hell did he do to his voice? That's just weird - it's like it's him, only not.
-
i loved "she got her own ringtone" and "crush". rather hear songs like those - modern g funk style.
-
This song actually sounds really dope to me. I must agree thugh, that dont sound like Warren AT ALL.
-
f'real tho' if dubcc cant get the dubcc player to play the tracks properly they shouldnt even try to upload it, it makes the tracks sound like garbage..........as for the track itself, yeah warren sounds really strange on it, but i do like the production
-
It sounds like they pitched the track down. They should fix it.
-
One question...IS THAT WARREN RAPPING?????????? ???
Yea.....thats what i was trippen off of....it doesn't even sound like warren.
-
i loved "she got her own ringtone" and "crush". rather hear songs like those - modern g funk style.
where do you hear the g funk in these songs ?
and "she got her own ringtone" is a good title for a ray j song, not for warren g god dammit
-

its something to do with the bitrate of the track, it happens on 1 in 20 tracks we post.
-
this version has been slowed down heavily..after hearing the regular version that was posted in another thread, i gotta say that I'm feeling this the most out of the 3 tracks we have heard so far from the new album
-
unfortunately slow or not this track is wack as fuck :(
-
BETTER VERSION NOW ADDED & TRACK FIXED!

You shouldn't be. Everyone still stuck in the past.
I like the song, but i do agree it doesn't sound like Warren rappin.
I hope this album makes up for midnight hour. I wasn't diggin that one. I'm glad that he tried something different but it didn't work out. I thought that song "do what it do" was terrible. But I hope that everyone is creating a new sound to "west" music.
-
yeah, he's "biting" Kanye in a major way on this one... both on the beat and on the flow. It's a decent track tho...
-
Dubcc is getting wacker everyday... this song bangs!!! its 2009!!!
-
shocked to see all the negative feedback
i like this
I'm with you. It kind of reminds me of recent Soopafly productions (Bangin' Westcoast, etc).
-
I like this track! A lot of people don't feel it because I guess it has an "east coast" sound, but some of Warren's best tracks don't have that G-Funk sound. I think thats what makes him one of best producers, track's like "That's Gangsta" by Kurupt and "Never Forget You" are great productions by Warren and aren't the typical G-Funk sound.
-
damn something like his single wit nate dogg would be dope
"regulate"
-
I was surprised by the quality of this record because I heard it after reading comments...
Man, this is good!
-
sounds more like an intro of the album for me
-
I think its dope. No, its not what we're used to from G Dub, but its by no means bad... It's a more soulful sound... back to the silver age of hip hop
-
I think the quality of the original leak had some bearing on the comments, since the improved version was put in place the comments seem more positive...
KEEP IT COMING!!
-
too much hate. this track is actually pretty dope. Warren sounds fresh and back spittin' 8)
-
I think the quality of the original leak had some bearing on the comments, since the improved version was put in place the comments seem more positive...
KEEP IT COMING!!
I know it did affect mine. I thought that shit with his voice was intentional ;D.
Sounds much better now. Pretty good actually. Still not exactly quite there. I think Warrens lyrics on this aren't up to par with the instrumental... I dunno, something's off to me about the track. Much better than Crush though.
-
I like "Crush" way better.
That's what happens when you take an east coast beat and can't write lyrics good enough to support it.
-
but some of Warren's best tracks don't have that G-Funk sound.
:loco:
-
but some of Warren's best tracks don't have that G-Funk sound.
:loco:
Nah I see what he's saying. I loved that intro track with Bishop off In the Midnite Hour and you couldn't really call that G-Funk as such. Warren's versatile.
-

warren is versatile no doubt, but his best beats are g funk imho....
-
I thought y'all were talking about Warren Griffin III from LBC, west coast
-
ya'll some some ungrateful complaining muthafuckas up on this board...thats whats wrong with the West Coast...all the fans are stuck in the past...everybody wanna hear Regulators part 10 (lmao at u muthafuckas crying for Nate Dogg!)...like West Coast artists aren't allowed to evolve and grow...people complaining saying the song sound East Coast and he trying to sound like Kanye West...WTF??!!!....so cause Kanye West used a speeded up sample nobody else can do it now? Ya'll sound so young and stupid..... ::)
PS thanks Warren and DUBCNN...this shit is bangs like Rolling 60's...put this straight on the IPOD to bump in the ride!!!
-
wtf are some of you faggots talking about.
this track is hot
-
The better version sounds alot well, better.
Production is dope.
-
Now it sounds even better (and like Warren). ;D Maybe the lyrics could be a little better but all in all that's a dope song.
-

in the midnight hour > G Files
:nahnah2:
-
damn this is not the warren g that i wanna hear.
the beat is :-X
yeah...*spins "regulate..the g-funk era". :-\
-
Not bad but it's not the Warren G that the fans want. I became a fan cause I loved his laid back summertime funky sound. Not that I hate on him for moving on and evolving, but don't hate on me for not liking his new sound.
Like I said, the track is nice but what the chorus lacks energy. Put somebody in there, Nate would have killed it, but put Butch on the hook, or put a RBX in there and you got a bangin track. As is, it sounds unfinished.
-
the track is ok but i would not say that it is great
-

are you joking ?
where's the evolution here ?
of course warren g is allowed to produce a country or a techno album if he wants, but don't talk about evolution because there's no evolution in this song.
we sound young and stupid ? your tastes in music are pretty bad
-
i think, evolution is not a simple SWICTH from a sound (G-Funk) to another one (East Coast Flava), if u want somethin NEW and not just a Regulate part 10,
this kanye westly joint is nothin new to my ears... , warren IS THE G-FUNK and if he wants, he can UPGRADE that G-FUNK SOUND in 2009, not just switch to another style ALREADY HEARD,

The flip is nice. but Warren sounds kinda funny. or maybe its cuz we're not used to him rappin all energetic.
I thought y'all were talking about Warren Griffin III from LBC, west coast
;D
you must be very proud of yourself.
-
this track is such "me too" track , like a cheap ass Just Blaze/Kanye beat
damn Warren, you fell off this much?
-
why are yall crying about Nate Dogg not being in there? did yall forget that dude is sick and recovering?!
-
this track is such "me too" track , like a cheap ass Just Blaze/Kanye beat
damn Warren, you fell off this much?
I don't think he fell off that much he's just trying make a diffrent sound but to tell you the truth i always loved his sound up to return of the regulator even though i like midnight hour and this is alright but there was a time when g-dubb really had his a game when he made big bang theory i really thought that he had really found his sound but some how he feels people weren't feeling that well i was.

man, warren g is a master when it comes to making real gfunk beats.
its not a matter that he cant do it anymore, because i know he can.
its just a matter of him wanting to make that dope gfunk sound he did in the 90's.
all these different new sounds that he's been trying to do these last 5 years have been ok, but the style of music that he made in the 90's was straight classics.
i just cant help it. this is the sound i that i really want to hear.
just take a listen to these dope ass warren g tracks from the 90's. the productions are so dope.
i wish warren makes these type of 90's gfunk beats again:

U Serious? its 2009 and Warren is making what the fuck he feeling right now...he has moved on to other shit besides making G-Funk records with Nate Dogg...and yeah ya'll sound young and stupid...im gonna second that...West Coast rap fans are some of the silliest fans around...instead of being grateful we still got cats like Warren, Snoop, Ice Cube, WC, DJ Quik, MC Eiht, Tha Dogg Pound etc. still out here grinding giving us good shit to listen to besides all the wack ass bullshit on the radio (like Soulja Boy, Lil Wayne, T-Pain etc...) ya'll muthafuckas sit up and complain about every fuckin thing they make cause it dont sound like the shit they made from 1992-1996 ("Quik fell off...Snoop lost it...Kurupt fell off..Warren need Nate Dogg...") the funniest shit is only West Coast fans do this...its sad cause these cats is still out here grinding...putting it in everyday with no promotion, no videos, and no radio play for a bunch of young whiny-ass internet wanna be critics who hate eveything they do...and please dont speak on my musical tastes...cause the difference between me and you is i LISTEN to the music well before i sit down and type my opinion...
-
He should use that beat for the intro of his new album but without rapping on it, just talkin on it
average song tho Warren suxx big time on that beat, cant even fit his own beat

this song sounds is complete ass.... if this is the new warren g i'm done with warren g
-
The "fans stuck in the past" often used on this forum is not valid in some cases as this one ... Tracks pretty cool

i 100% agree. i was just showing 2 examples of warren's best work
-
kanye west is one of the BEST making that type of beatz, Warren is the BEST making that G-Funk, so
if i wanna hear some good eastcoast muzic, i go wit Kanye, if i want to hear west i go wit someone who still does WEST, it don't matter if its 90's or upgraded to the 2009
wit this track warren is like everybody else...but i know that Warren can be THE ONE.. which u prefer?
its not hate... its PURE LOVE !

in last 10 years all the veterans are tried to swicht up their style to SOUTH, EAST, etc
the result is THE WEST HAS NO MORE HIS STYLE, WE ARE NO MORE "DIFFERENT" and we don't SELL anyway
so, i think its time to BRING IT BACK, anybody must to do HIS THANG, what he was born for !
FORGET THE MARKET FOR A SECOND, just try to be courageous, we could slap em out all
-
Was a little dissapointed...and this as a single?? It's not a horrible track, and he sounds pretty hungry on the mic. I just have to agree with that opinion that if you wanna hear these type of tracks Kanye does them way better. And Warren G is best when he's smooth and laidback. I'm still hopin' that the album will be tight, but "Crush" was awful, and this one didn't blow my mind. All his other albums are good, though, so he'll probably slap us with some heat.

its good not great aint gonna hate on it.. its warren what ever he does im buy it to support a vet but if its wack it dont get played simple as..
-
damn i was listenin to "return of the regulator" what a dope album.
"speed dreamin" is classic and mad dope
damn he did what he wanted to do on that album (sounds and seems like)
he needs to bring that back IMO
-
i've heard two new cuts off the album from the studio session that was streaming live off ustream with quik, terrace, kurupt, bad lucc & raekwon in the house.
they were dope ass tracks. one of the songs had a bangin beat with dj scratches and mixing of the 1's & 2's in the track. i think bad lucc was rappin a verse.
also the other track, has got nate dogg singin the hook. yes that's right. nate dogg!!
so looks like this album will have some heaters on it. i thought warren wouldnt let us down. he might do a few poor choices in his selection of songs for his album, but i'm confident that he will have heaters on it aswell.
-
COOL ^ 8)

if it's true this is awsome!!!!
could you link it please???

it was being played when warren was live in the studio with quik, terrace & kurupt.
after the show was finished, warren had the whole show posted up divided into 6 videos.
about an hour or so later, he made the videos private, so they cant be played.
nate's hook went somethin along the lines of: we bust, they run (..................) hundred miles n runnin
-
@BC Powda: I am not only a west coast fan, my main squeeze is East Coast.. I'm saying that it's cool that Warren is doing different stuff, just that some people can do certain things.. With the East Coast sound alot of the time u have to be able to rap to make the formula work. It's just the way it is.. The lyrics, flow, and delivery are subpar on this track.. It doesn't work. I'm not hating either, it's just 1 track out of a million he's made and half of them being dope.. And there are alot of new artists coming out the West that are making good music, so no matter how long he's been grinding and how acclaimed he is, I'm still gonna judge music on a good/bad basis...

not to be disrespectful, but warren is at the stage of his career where he's not gonna get a huge new fanbase. the people buying his albums are the same ones whove been buying them since he first came out - the ones that fell in love with that g funk sound that we know only warren can produce 8)
its not about being stuck in the past. whats wrong with coming out with some 2009 new futuristic g-funk. it doesnt have to sound like its 1995 again - just an updated sound to something the fans clearly want
some people should just stick to what they do well. warren does g-funk better than anyone
