-
LOL. I'm digging this. :) Props.
-
LOL....this is a WTF-type video like 'Without Me'.
lol at Dr. Dre as Captain Kirk.
-
that dre star trek bit had me pissing myself. classic.
-
i wouldnt expect anything less gayer from feminem, lol
-
Great video. Typical Eminem :D
-
pretty dissapointing song
-
Typical, typical, typical
I don't know what you guys see in this dude
-
Same ol' same ol'... Not that surprising of a video having heard the song already, but sill, I would've expected something new this time around.
Dre was funny though.
-
That "back in the Pink Alf shirt" part was funny as hell!
-
hahahahahaha..shit is mad dope ;D ;D Jesica simpson ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
It was funny...... but not something I will probably ever listen to again.
His first two singles "My Name Is" and "Real Slim Shady" were funny like that, and had alot of comedy in the video; but they were also good songs had replay value. This new single is only good for laughs.
-
video was cool, song isn't too bad either. i expected something like this for the first single
Em in the pink alf shirt was lol, also seeing him do the vulcan death grip to people was funny
-
video was cool, song isn't too bad either.
The video had some cool scenes in it, Kon Artis was there too.
-
Typical Em video. Had a few laughs but it's getting really corny. Other than the annoying accent I didn't expect anything different from his first single, I just hope the album tracks are more quality. At least Dre came correct on the beat again.

pretty much summed it up for me but the first single is always made for little kids. Back in the day his videos used to be jokes but when u watch them now theyre kinda corny cause uve matured. Anyways the beats hot and em actually raps well bar the annoying accent... Can see this being top10/number one hit
-
hey meho i don't hear how dre came correct on the beat? sounds more like a corny eminem produced cut. at the very best it sounds like a throwaway dre loop he might have made several years ago. they should have tried a bit harder to make this a good funky track as well as funny. dre failed.
-
I like the beat. It's simplistic yet got that bounce to it. When Dre made this he definetly had Em in mind.
Like compare it to Hey Playa, which has a dope sample and drums but is way too crowded. Sometimes the most simple beats are more effective.
-
great video. eminem uses the same formula again and it worked out great.
-
Yeah the video is funny ;D ;D, and the song is decent at best. I hope there wont be more songs on Relapse with that accent, its annoying.
-
you know what's funny?
i was checking some old topic yesterday and found this quote:
Eminem is more wack for making a career dissing pop artists like Aguilera who actually has more talent than Em, and releasing those songs as first singles to get his 10 million sales than Snoop doing a song with Justin which was a 3rd single and really didin't blow up in the US anyway ot was more of a worldwide hit
i thought that HEC was overreacting.
but when seeing this new video today, the quote came to mind (by coincidence it became relevant, crazy isn't it)
you see, i now partly agree with HEC.
when Eminem was at his best, he had mainstream appealing singles, but he came correct and the videos were funny.
back then he was able to not look liky a hypocrite as he had the talent.
with Encore and this, however he shoots himself in the foot as he's just "one of them"( even though he denies that in his book).
not to mention that he didn't come correct so that's another failure.
the song and the video are so forced, it's unbelievable.
the old stuff (songs + videos) are still better, but you will never get that magic back Eminem.
so why even bother?
my prediction is that the single will do quite well for today's standards, but will fail in a way that it won't come even close to past achievements ( just like 50 had with the Curtis album)
hey meho i don't hear how dre came correct on the beat? sounds more like a corny eminem produced cut. at the very best it sounds like a throwaway dre loop he might have made several years ago. they should have tried a bit harder to make this a good funky track as well as funny. dre failed.
i agree with you, although i have my own arguments for not liking the beat.
Crack a bottle was a much better one
-
I like it that he uses his old style of video making again lol, but the song isn't replay value worthy.
-
Same ole bullshit, Same ole em, yet people will hype it and it'll be a hit, at least Dre dropped a hot beat
-
after seein the vid the song grew on me.. catchy actually
-
It's a lot better than Just Lose It but...that's not a difficult feat, I still hope this album is going to be great, When Royce talked up this album, I am still inclined to think he was being genuine but we shall see.
Edit - It is quite catchy
-

Really? What are you expecting? I ain't trying to be a smart ass either, for this type of lyrical content and feel what kind of beat did you want?
I thought it was dope. Compared to past material this all sounds like a band got together and recorded each of their instruments. It sounds tighter and more cohesive then Crack a Bottle.
As for Eminem, he continues his pattern of releasing comical first singles. Unlike when he first came out, he isn't offensive. Now this kind of Em track is expected. I don't really get the feeling he's supposed to be shocking. If he is then he failed. I would've preferred him to went at other rappers but when has Em every done this unless he was provoked?
I don't mind his accent. I actually prefer it to his annoying extremely nasally voice he had when he first blew up.
Everyone keeps arguing they like the serious Eminem but you have to recognize that the comical aspect is as much a part of his image as is the serious. I can understand people complaining if Nas dropped a single like this but it's Eminem!
I prefer the beat over the vocals which shows that I won't play the song that much but I don't listen to his comical music too often. So, I'm not surprised nor am I disappointed.

you don't understand; he used to be funny
-
great beat. dre did his job!
video is funny.. sarah palin looked hot lol.
-
this is BEYOND disappointing lol.
this is worst than "Just Lose It", i did not think that was possible.
good thing is that this is his single, so maybe the rest will be good? lmao, i dont know anymore.
but i think the beat is AWESOME, Dre fuckin came with it! 8)
LOL @ Dre being Captian Kirk <------CLASSIC!
was the asain guy the same one from MADtv?
LMAO, when the video ends they play a commercial & then "Lose Yourself" comes on, what a nice transition. ;) :)
i think Em has to stop dissing celebrities; once i saw him sitting in the chair with the cowboy hat on, i knew it was going to be bad.
Without Me was a great song, imo. this has no feel like that at all, GARBAGE!
-

yeah when comparing the two tracks, you notice how bad We Made You is.
not to mention that Without Me wasn't even that good, but "ok" ;)
-
after checkin this for few times i can say its a great video and ok song (expected)...dudes know what they doing
-
^lol, i enjoy MOST of Eminem's work, even some stuff off of Encore.
Without Me was a good song to me; even if it had silly Eminem lyrics at times, his normal voice was there, the message was dope & he spit some hot lines.
but yeah comparing this to any of his work, even his "lesser work", anything sounds better than this (even if the video was pretty entertaining :P).
after checkin this for few times i can say its a great video and ok song (expected)...dudes know what they doing
i know what your saying & i think i agree with you.
they think this could blow up & sell, so let this be Eminem's "Lollipop".
he might come hard with his next song (maybe not a single), but i'll try not to anticiapate it too much after hearing this lol.
-

That might be the case. I didn't like Slim Shady Lp or the Marshall Mather's Lp. I respect both of the cds but I don't listen to them. II prefer the Eminem Show and Encore.
-

fair enough ;)
the accent is actually a big issue for me.
off of Encore, i can listen to : Evil Deeds( good song), Never Enough( best song on the album i think), Mosh, Encore (curtains down) + bonus: We As Americans ( great song).
the rest of the tracks is either horrible or mediocre.
after checkin this for few times i can say its a great video and ok song (expected)...dudes know what they doing

lol, for me the anticipation is pretty much gone :P
i'm still very curious though.
-
i thought the production might be a little more fresh sounding, that's the let down. the earlier, comical em singles actually had quality funky beats (real slim shady, my name is) but this is just poor.
-
It also seems hinted at that Relapse 2 might be the more serious affair.
-
he fell off
-
wonder if doc brown..knows what he is doin with the flux capacitor kuz we in 2003 again
-

based on what?

yeah, where is that theory developing? lol :P
-
its better then just lose it but not a great song w.e kinda expected hop relapes will hav serious stuff
-
i just relistened to it.
at about the 2:40 mark he says "why should i wash my filthy mouth out? you think thats bad? wait until you hear the rest of my album".
i dont know what to make from that comment, but it could be REAL bad news lol.
-
gay this shit aint rap

From Dawaun Parker himself (via Twitter):
"FYI: I feel compelled to remind ya'll. Relapse is an ill, dark album. Ya'll know the formula. Just be patient."
and...
"I told everyone he was coming with the funny one first... next song is a problem, I promise."
Also, Dawaun speaks more about Relapse in my forthcoming feature with him for DUBCNN. Keep the faith, people.

sorry, but i'm not falling for that.
how the fuck can it be dark, if there's nothing hinting to that?
i'm not basing that on rumours, but words from Eminem himself (including his recent book).
he's in a different mindstate than 9/10 years ago.
i'm looking forward to that feature though Conan 8) your past interview with Dawaun was great, you know that :)
-
the video is great. Its refreshing to see it in today's industry.
The song was blah the first time i heard it, but after watching the video it grew on me.
P.S. Wasn't Dre suppost to have a verse in the song?

Appreciate that, sir. This one's written up more like a magazine feature, but there's still a lot of good info in there. (IMO, anyway.)
Hopefully we'll be okay to drop it by the end of this week!

Good lookin' Conan, I'll keep an eye out for that feature! 8)

MTV READY

This is the worst Eminem song I have ever heard. It's worse than Ass Like That.

Cant believe the hate this tracks gettin, what did you think it was gonna sound like
Only problem for me is the voice
The beat sounds like live instruments, nice bounce to it

Really? heard Just Lose It & Ass Like That & Fack?
After watching the video a few times I'll have to say the song would be nice if only em didn't use that accident.
He also said in his interview that they searched for this song a long time, maybe the rest of the album really is different, one can only hope.

according to Conan's post on what Dawaun Parker said on Twitter, the album is going to be Dark & this song was already planned to be silly; but like you said, one can only hope.

An attempt at a catchy song was always gonna happen with Eminem, i just dont understand how this is gettin more heat than tracks like just lose it, ass like that and without me that have generic beats and similar subjects, i think the beat takes the track on another level from them, he flows nicely over it, its just that voice
-
Is there a download link for the video?
-
This shits actually all good for what it is, the beats a banger, and vids crack up. I'd rather this than the generic auto tune assisted poppy club singles we've heard over and over again lately. Em bout to take over the game again
-
I THINK ITS OFFICIALLY OK TO SAY THAT EM IS DONE, I MEAN I BET HE'LL STILL SELL CUS THERE ARE LOTS OF LITTLE KIDS OUT THERE BUT MUSICALLY HES OVER.
-
Damn, one track and you're already counting him out? haha, IF this is his worst shit it's still better then most singles out today.
-
nahh
-
Dr. Dre, 2020 lol
-
maybe if i was still 15, watched trl, knew all what was going on in pop culture, including shows like rock of love, then possibly i would somewhat like this. but i am 23, ive learned an appreciation for good music and i wouldn't waste another four minutes of my time in watching or listening to this

hop off that high seat you're on with that pompous bullshit, you can still appreciate the quality of production on this track and the musical talent it takes to put together the verses eminem did, even if you're at the age of 23 with a good knowledge and appreciation for good music.

i didnt mean for that to sound as pretentious as it did, but eminem running around in costumes, and rapping silly elementary rhymes dissing pop culture, when in actuallity hes actually hipocritically creating it himself, the production is ok, nothing special, i dont see the musical talent in the verses, i read poetry, again not to sound pompous, eminem is doin his thing, this is his formula, when i was young i ate it up with a spoon and a smile on my face, now i know better, i see it for the bullshit that it is, and its sad that as an artist, and a person with a LOT of money, he doesnt want to go past this and move on, esp after a 5 year hiatus, THIS is what he came out with? obviously i know this shouldnt be a sign of the album, since the first three albums all had cheesy singles and were good.

This shit is horrible, like you know how Howard Stern would say "Harrrrible" with that accent.....
WOW
Wasnt expecting this shit again....
-
Lyrically and flow wise he's on point, just the accent fucks it all up

day after.. more dope :)

i loved it

agreed, it's not as bad as "ass like that".
i would say that Just lose it, is slightly better than the new single, but it's still mediocre.
Without Me also has a very similar concept as the new one, but it was actually worked out a lot better!
that's why the song doesn't suck to me, unlike the new single.
not to mention that the beat of Without Me goes a lot harder.
you can say that it's just the "voice" with the new single,
but it's a huge problem for a lot of people ( including me).
the vibe is not right for me either.
i think we weren't expecting that the song would turn out like that you know?
there are so many ways to make a catchy song, but this one failed imo.
by the way, take into account that you've read a lot of first reactions on here.
-
Come on now people what was you expecting?...This is standerd Eminem 1st single. I dont actually like it and ive never liked any of his other singles really, but the album will be better im sure of it.
Also lets face it if he came out with an R and B track with t pain on the hook, you would hit the fuking roof.
At least hes stayiong true to what he does.
-
by the way, take into account that you've read a lot of first reactions on here.[/color]
Thats true
-
well a lot of 18 year olds and below will be feeling this. anyone with taste in music will take it as a clear signal to download eminem's album. i don't own any eminem albums anyway, the only 'aftermath' lp in my cd collection is 2001.
-
the only 'aftermath' lp in my cd collection is 2001.
I have that + Marshal Mather LP + Eminem Show. Rest weren't worth copping but there were some close ones (GRODT, Doc, Massacre, Big Bang).

I'd say Big Bang and The Documentary are worth copping without a doubt.
-
Listened to this once yesterday, and just listened to it today. It's your standard Em lead single. Funny vid, lots of pop culture references. Pretty catchy joint.
-
Pretty sure the whole reason he made this the single is so people will say "Thats whack" Eminem thrives off the hate, and he has always liked pissing people off. I'm not an eminem fan myself but i bet his album will be good.

true, but i don't think it will help his sales

i personally think Big Bang is slightly overrated.
had some dope tracks, but some people calling it classic on this board & i just dont see it lol.
-
Same ol' same ol'... Not that surprising of a video having heard the song already, but sill, I would've expected something new this time around.
Dre was funny though.
yep ;)

God damn you have some high standards if you think GRODT wasn't worth copping!
-
high standards but still a huge music collection. even 50 cents best album aint worth the space.
-
This song is horrible, even for an Eminem first single this is horrible.

props, well said

By the way I agree with you on this.
sorry, but i'm not falling for that.
how the fuck can it be dark, if there's nothing hinting to that?
I don't see why he can't have made a "dark" album, I just doubt he has. I expect an album "darker" than Encore but that's not expecting much.
It's disappointing to see the exact same formula rolled for the first single, going after celebrities and having the jokey video. It's something that has decreased in hilarity, or mild amusement if we're being honest, with each album. This time it falls completely flat. It's actually embarrassing that after the critical reception of Encore he thinks something like this is a good idea. But ofcourse sales are valued greater than creativity.
Eminem: Two great albums, one alright album and by the looks of things two albums which even a casual listener should be embarrassed to own.

They key is "we were looking for this song for a long time" translation, Jimmy Iovine said the album is not coming out until you find a catchy pop song to sell as the first single. I think it's obvious who calls the shots and seemingly it's obvious that when we are disappointed at many albums, it probably has more to do with the decisions made by the people who own the labels and that if we were to hear the so called leftovers, we would probably be much more impressed with them we were with what made the album.
I think the two obvious contenders for even Encore was We As Americans and Love You More. These were not included on the album and only appeared as bonus tracks on some of the editions of the album. It is obvious that in the case of most album releases, we don't hear the best material, we hear what they deem will sell to a fickle pop oriented consumer base.
That is the reality

"The Real Slim Shady" is a masterpiece compared to this travesty and D12 World might have well as sounded like "My Band" as it was a horrible album anyway.

Well, it's official. I don't hate this song. It's no where fucking near one of my favorites, but it ain't that bad.

yer i heard it and then listened to just lose it and we made u is a lot better. Most are sayin the rest of the album wont sound like this and all i can do is hope thats the case. Also that Em loses that stupid accent which annoys me...
-
its growing on me...slim has some nice lines for sure, minus the accent...and the accent even lightens up in the 2nd verse...the bridges are tight and so is the beat!! sick beat
-
I like the beat...
it's just the same shit he's been doing since after "MMLP"
so that in itself is annoying... he could make a 'serious' track and still do just as well I feel
-
serious this serious that why so serious cat?
come on, this shit is dope because it's comical and it's still got a SERIOUS message about famous people. he even pokes fun at himself - he's the idiot savant of rap and without dr.dre as his producer he wouldn't be shit. the pink alf shirt and the electrocution chair are other examples.
-
I'm not asking for a "Rock Bottom" as a single
just not doing something he's already done before...
it's played out... it's just so obvious he was forced to do this kinda shit
-
Horrible..so sad
-
Dope track!
jEM jEM binks is Hip Hop's Elvis.
He hasn't lost a beat, all his shit is classic.
jEM jEM binks is the GOAT!
sarcasm?
-
looking for the cutest girl and.....charlie horse her, lol.
i like the track and the video is funny, way better than that crack a bottle song (cough cough trash cough cough). its good to see better material.
-
it's an okay song.
i like the beat, hate the accent he's using.
i can see what he's trying to say....and i AGREE, but i think em could have done better.
-
this shit sucks

Don't you know,I'm jEM jEM binks biggest fan.
You don't happen to know what cologne he use?
not a clue. :P
-
Eminem should of clowned Suge knight and re-enacted the nightclub beatdown by the local barber, now that would be funny.
This video is not insulting enough for Slim Shady standards.

he started to tone it down since the Eminem show.

yeah that's just how i feel!
anyway, there might be a few dark songs on the album, but that's it.
also, about Eminem's level of self-reflection, you hit the nail on the head!
in his book, he says doesn't regret the moves he made in the past.
he doesn't think that he's a sellout
-
is that hittman inside the spaceship, i mention that guy near the guy pukin...
-
at first i was mad dissapointed with this, but after 3-4 listens im really feelin it, its jus gettin used to that accent lol
lyrics r dope so is beat and hook
-
heard the song on better speakers and the beat is actually pretty dope. dre using some live drums.
