It's been almost 2 years since we had new solo music from Defari on Dubcnn, July 2006 to be precised. That update focused around "Street Music," the follow up to 2003's "Odds & Evens" release.
That album contained the single featuring Dilated Peoples' Evidence entitled Make My Own which we dropped for download.
Since then Defari has been busy recording new music for a long awaited new album. Last week we got hold of the first track to come from the new album - currently under the working title of "Work Hard, Play Harder" - the version we received was the Clean mix and as such we held off. Today we have the pleasure to premiere both mixes together for both downloading and/or streaming.
Defari linked up with DJ Khalil on this cut who showcases once again why his production abilities cannot be ignored - this track is a heater! Defari instructed the fans to drop their feedback on this as he completes the new album. Get on our forum to lay down opinions on this track.

Been waiting for some new Defari and i must say that I like the way this is sounding! Defari sounds fresh and the beats suit his style imo. One point of criticism: I think the track is kinda monotone and sounds a bit like an album filler to me.

Well, he has been ghost producing to Dre for some time now, so some of Dre's beats might sound like Khalils beats (well, that's what Bad Azz said in 2003.)

Shiiit.. It's opinionated, I ain't gonna try and force my opinion on you, but I say it, write it down in my interview, Bad Azz said The Neptunes are as dope as Dr. Dre. And I didn't say doper, and they're new, they ain't as old as Dre, but on me, they PRODUCED all they songs, Dre don't produce all his songs, look Dre gets props for songs that he didn't produce! So who's doper? The Neptunes produce allllll they're songs, Dre gets props for.. Focus produces Dre songs, Mel Man produces Dre songs, Daz produced Dre songs, Warren G has produced Dre songs, like remember that Watcher song? Dre didn't do that beat! Dre did not do that beat! 50% of the shit Dre does, he doesn't really do! He has this little kid named Ryan right now, that nigga is DOPE as fuck! He has this guy named Focus that produces beats.. You know who else like got a song compilation wit Dre.. Khalil, Khalil has been producin for Dre. Dre needs dope producers, and he'll take a rough track that they did and he'll fix it up and he produced it.
