wtf music is garbage, i dont want this from Quik , i want the P-Funk
Kurupt's flow is ok, i like the rap but damn there is no beat in this song ( how can DJ Quik produce shit like this ), what a sadness
:(
damn i hope in more good songs on Blaqkout at this point
-
Kurupt ripped that one.
-
dope video
-
cool video, i like all the cameos.
Song is pretty damn hot. I like the beat, it's unique. Kurupt kills this shit, both lyrics and flow.
-
Not your typical quik beat but i actully really like it.
Kurupt comes on point sharper then a needle
-
it's cool... I can see it getting better with each listen
-
alright, at best this combination of Quik and Kurupt, would be his Dogg Food flow over Safe n Sound beats.....but we cant expect that today..
I think this songs cool on first listen, very experimental for Quik, its different... should sound better with a bassy system too.
-
This is fucking heat! Can someone rip an MP3?
-
This shit is fire! 8)
Dope verses on a unique hard hittin track! What more can we ask for??
I don't know why everyone is waiting for them to drop shit, like its still 95-98.. This is 2009!
If u guys read all the interviews they've been doing.. They said that Fuck Yall is the only track that sounds like something that people are used to hearing from them.
Theyre doin some new shit.. tryna expand. And I'm all for it.. If u guys wanna hear Dogg Food and Safe & Sound, then go play those cd's.. That music is timeless..
I'm ready for some new shit! And so far, I'm liking what I'm hearing!
-
Not what I expected, but that's dope. Chorus stays in your head. 8)
-
Oh my, this is nasty.
-
This sounds like Quick's version of "Grindin" by the Neptunes
-
fuckin dope 8)
-
Def different from quik, maybe it will grow on me
-
Damn, that was actually dope as FUCK!! 8)
and yes, Kurupt kills it!! 8)
-
this shit is hella hard homie :D 8)
-
Dope fuckin track 8)
-
PFFFFFFFFFFFFTTT didnt quik learn his lesson with that fixxers bullshit
-
fuckin dope 8)
-
that shit was horrible, what tha fukk was kurupt babblin about, its time for him to hang it up...i dont know what ya'll was listening to!!!
-
props for the track
-
I know yall west dudes love Quik around here but this is trash music. Give me anything off Relapse than this garbage, as much some was knocking Relapse beats.
I figure many will ride and say its fire. Quik is savior around here but this garbage. STANS! Lol
Have the legends even succumb to the trash? Is that contagious? SMH!
I love Quik's production but I'm say he fail off with this one. YUP, QUIK FELL OFF.
-
that shit was horrible, what tha fukk was kurupt babblin about, its time for him to hang it up...i dont know what ya'll was listening to!!!
at least someone keeping tit real. If Dre came with it'll be the end of his career, especially on here. Man, the bias. That joint IS STRAIGHT DOO DOO. And you talking to a dude who love Quik's beat. Bumping Rhythmalism 1 hour ago.
-
WHAT IN THE FUCK WAS THAT?? QUIK YOU FAGGOT WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU JUST DO?? YOU CALL THAT A BEAT? I CAN MAKE THAT IN FRUITY LOOPS FOR FUCKS SAKES!
and this is coming from a huge quik fan. My god what a horrible song
-

Thanks for keeping it real. I can't belive the stans in here. :monkey_piss:
-
this that shit... 8)
-
well, this is a lil different.. the beats okay for just bein minimal, but Quik can do a lot better.
where's the bassline? it'd probably sound a lot better with one.
-
This is some straight Soulja Boy shit, you all should be ashamed for liking it.
-
Track bangs hard, but yeah true it would sound be a whole lot better with a bassline!
-
Wackest fucking thing I've heard from either of these two, how the fuck do they decide to make a video for this rather than for Fuck Y'all, Hey Playa, and What You Wanna do? Un-fucking-believable. Hey Playa has single written all over it, the whole world would love that joint.
This song, however, won't even get play from a guy like myself who loves Kurupt and Quik. Let alone from new fans. Dumb ass decision picking this song. Quik doesn't even rap on it. What kind of fool convinced these two niggas that this was worth making a video for?
-
That wasnt the only video they shot,
they also shot "Do you know" Wackest fucking thing I've heard from either of these two, how the fuck do they decide to make a video for this rather than for Fuck Y'all, Hey Playa, and What You Wanna do? Un-fucking-believable. Hey Playa has single written all over it, the whole world would love that joint.

-
Kurupt ripped that beat but damn when it first started I though Quik gonna drop some more instruments to the beat, its kinda poor musically
-
Love the t-shirt but this shit is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!!!!
Thers's still a Fixxer inside Quik, what a big let down.
-
Gets better with EACH LISTEN.
Give it a few spins. Interesting choice for first Video. I thought it would be Hey Playa for sure!
-
... Dumb ass decision picking this song. Quik doesn't even rap on it. What kind of fool convinced these two niggas that this was worth making a video for?
I have to agree on this 100%. Whoever is doing Quik's marketing over at Mad Science is a fucking dipshit. They really fucked the pooch as far as promotion on "Trauma" . Where were the videos for the singles?! Black Mercedes could have been HUGE. What happened to the live concert DVD recorded with the greatest hits album?! Did it just go fucking poof and disappear? The list goes on and on.....
I also agree that "Hey Playa" would become an instant hit. Using "9 Times Outta 10" as the lead video single is an extremely idiotic move. First off, you perform Moroccan Blues aka "Hey Playa" like crazy leading up to your album, building hype at clubs and on airwaves, and then when it's time to release a single to the masses you do a complete 180 and release a song that not only has no previous airplay, but has one half of the duo rapping on it. Holy shit...where the fuck is the sense in that? I swear to god if I saw Quik I would tell him to his face that it's not his lack of talent/haters/manic-depressive episodes that are holding him back. It's his fucking marketing/business model. THEY SUCK ASS. Whatever. I'm sure in the long run the fans will all get what they want. But the next time people talk about how Quik is underrated/unacknowledged, know that music is a business. You can put 110% into your music, but if you neglect the business aspect, you are steamrolling yourself...
-
some of yall need to calm down.. I love how yall say if we like this song, then that makes us Quik stans! Whatt? Like everybody likes the same shit, C'mon yall.. Opinions are like assholes everybody got one... I love Quik's old shit just as much as the next man, Safe&Sound, Rhytmalism = classics.
I didn't care for Under The Influence, and I hated that Fixxers shit.. Even tho, some of yall blame Quik too much for it, when he didn't even produce most of that, it was AMG who did most of the beats. But anyways, I like this song.. that doesn't make me a stan! I like it more than that What U Really Wanna Do track.. And since when does everyone think thier opionion is the end all be all! All of a sudden u guys have a better taste for music than DJ Quik? I mean obviously some people are gonna like it, if Quik himself and Kurupt like it enough to make a video out of it. I agree, Quik makes beautiful productions, when he has multiple live instruments and classic samples.. but so much of his productions have gone over most peoples heads.. I mean I hate to say it, but Quik as an artist has been slept on for soo many years its a crime.. He's not ballin outta control, he's still basically a local artist. And he can't make music to satisfy just his core audience anymore.. He's gotta get some new fans, and if he has to experiment.. let him. He's already said this is a new sound, that people aren't gonna be expecting.. So deal w it or don't buy it.. bottom line!
And although I agree that this isn't a safe bet for a first single/video.. I think its just gonna be a street video. They already said that Hey Playa is gonna be theyre radio single, it just sucks cuz Quik said its getting resistance from stations like Power106 out here in L.A. I'm sure there gonna have a couple other lil low budget street videos drop, this is just the first one to hit the internet. They were even talking about trying to get Andrew Zimmerman from bizare foods on the Hey Playa video if they could, so thatll be like a more official video.
-
Not your typical quik beat, I like it.
-
Kurupt ripped that shit. lol @ you homos getting downright angry.
-
how can Quik make a NO-BEAT like this :(
-
OMFG this is garbage :P
-
hummmmm
-
i like that track. it`s different. cant wait for the album.
-
so quik is just a producer on this album ?
-
This is weak. Quik was bragging how he's making Kurupt spit grown up shit, yet he just mumbled random words through the whole track. I'm beginning to think Kurupt should've done a whole album with Hi-Tek, like he planned to do last year. Because both tracks he had on Hi-Tek solo albums were fire. And the production is very generic.
-
Kurupt should work with khalil on his next album, just khalil and muggs
-

The video's dope for a low budget but I think they should make it to "Hey Playa" - shit's mad dope 8)
-
this shit is wack! i dont think that the album is better.... :'( :'( Quik is really the greatest idiot from the westcoast
-
I think i can safely call this song an "UFO" YO i hope the whole album is not like this
+1 for innovation, - 1 for bad taste so basically we got a zero (that's mad science !)
Kurupt is on point though that's the good side of this
-
very diffrent type of beat
is that the drum patternw hich quik was talkin bout " which never was used befor ein hip hop" ;D
-
Quik is really the greatest idiot from the westcoast
::)
-
I like it
-
Had hopes for Quik. :'( :boohoo:
*Back to anticipating Detox and go bump Relapse*
-
I dont like that track at all.
-
*Back to anticipating Detox and go bump Relapse*
LOL WTF
Go and bump Relapse while waiting for Detox.
u little Aftermath Stan :monkey_piss:
-
At least noone feels this is just another song, it's like hate it or love it. I think it's cool, liked hey playa better but this one comes correct as well.
And only cuz there's a video doesn't mean it planned as a single. This indeed would be fucking stupid.
-
Beat is pretty damn tight. Sometimes minimalism can be a good thing and it really works here. The flagging voice sample crowns the bitch. Kurupt does ok job here but his lyrics make little sense. The next time he should show Quik what he has written in his Hannah Montana sketch book before they start shooting a million dollar video. This and Fuck Yall are winners.
-
Had hopes for Quik. :'( :boohoo:
*Back to anticipating Detox and go bump Relapse*
WTF are all y'all complaining for. It's one song, and on top of that it's heat. Kurupt killed it, and the beat was intense. With the bombs and what not...Quik has been making P-Funk for almost 20 years...let the man do what the fuck he wanna do. Don't yall think he's earned that?
Your speaking like everything else that leaked from the album aint flames...stop sleepin.
-
the trak is ok, need to listen to a few more time. kurupt does rip it though
-
Damn this shit is sicc !! 8) 8)! i like tha RAP shit, if u aint feelin' this go get your Youuuuuuuuuu ! On.
Wack as Net-Rip Mp3, I Dont see how you guys can bump Youtube Rip Audio. HaHaHa, you cats dont know what QUALITY Is.....and have the audacity to clown music ! get an edumication !
THIS IS RAP !!!
-
no fronting this aint great but its alright...points for originality and flows but not feeling the production too much (especially the voice sample). give me 'hey playa' and 'fuck y'all' over this any day. bad choice for a single.
-
The song is whatevers to me but I aint gonna say what they should or should not have done cause like homie said above me quik has pleased us for decades so hes allowed to do what he wants but as far as someone saying this shits all over the beats dre did on relapse i gotta disagree on that one cause dre came with some heaters on that one.
-
*Back to anticipating Detox and go bump Relapse*
LOL WTF
Go and bump Relapse while waiting for Detox.
u little Aftermath Stan :monkey_piss:
Blah blah. Ohh I'm ofended. ::) Rather be a "stan" of that then this trash you a stan of. LOL
-
Man this shit it dope! I don't think this is an official video. Just a street/internet video...
Ya'll need to hear this in CDQ. Maaan!
-
*Back to anticipating Detox and go bump Relapse*

Are u a girl ? U sound really bitchy.
-
Sounds like a dissapointment is on the way .. I was not expecting a classic by any stretch but this and What u wanna do (or whatever the title is) are GARBAGE, Hey Playa average .. only Fuck Y'all is album material ... go back listening to BO2 and waiting for R.E Album
-

stop acting like its 96!!! its time the west moved on and developed a new sound!
-
but come on man, im agree with you but there is NO BEAT in this song, only a drum
this isnt music and i cant let me like this song only for the reason that it's 2009!!
-
but come on man, im agree with you but there is NO BEAT in this song, only a drum
this isnt music and i cant let me like this song only for the reason that it's 2009!!
hmm maybe theres not much of beat, i thought it was weird at first but second time around i liked it.....
-

Word man, and you're absolutely right about the missed opportunity on Black Mercedez. I play that song for people who've never heard of Quik and they all love it. That track, like Hey Playa, is the sort of music that the world needs to hear from Quik.
Also, in all the interviews about Blaqkout, Kurupt and Quik keep saying how they're gonna do some "grown folk" music, that they're "on some grown folks' shit"...well goddamn. This is grown folks shit? This is 15 year olds' shit. Grown folks' shit is Black Mercedez, Whateva U Do, Summer Breeze, Hey Playa...not this track.
-
I liked the track, its different. Production wise Quik know what he doing. Put it like this, I went back and listened to Rythmalism 2 days ago, and the song Thinkin Bout U had me scrathing my head. Im 29 so when I first heard this track in 1998, I was 18. Out of all the songs on that record, Thinkin Bout U was my least favorite. Now being on my grown man shit, the song has grew on me. I didn't like the sound of the record then, I felt it wasn't Quik enough. The strings and pads on that track sucked to me. But, the point Im trying to make is,listen to Thinkin bout U and tell me that doesn't sound like a track that would be a hit single right now in 2009. The nigga Quik probably programmed the shit back in 1997. Thats how far advanced fam is, he was making beats in 1998 that was on a 2008 caliber but some beats went over our heads a lil. If you look at some of your least favorite Quik tracks from back in the day, have a listen to them today and c what Im talkiing bout. 9 times outta 10 is tight, but it will go over some heads because its 2009 and Quik's production is already on 2019. Im feelin the track, waiting for the record. Chuuch! 8)
-
Also, put it like this, my wifey a hiphop head too, I played her Thinkin bout U and U aint fresh off Balance and Options and she thought they was new tracks. Shouts to Quik, nigga I got Visualism on my blackberry right now!
-
this is the worst quik production i ever heard. won't listen to this song a second time in my lifetime
-
You'll hear it again in like 5-10 years and be like that shit was dope. 8) Quik prodution is Mars, some of his songs is over our heads like NewEra don't still that metaphor homie!
-
this wouldve been better if quik kept flowing and finished his verse. "...pretty soon, radiated mushroom, radiated tyroons. go bananas, baboons. just STOP."
-
To be fair even if you didn't like this track I wouldn't write off the whole album.
We already know theres gonna be heat on it: Fuck Y'all
Hey Playa
Annervesry and The Intro (which we heard live)
And i'm sure there be others so don't talk some BS about the album until you've heard it.
-
I think most of u guys are jumping the gun.. jus wait til more stuff comes out.
As with anything a new sound is going to be unfamiliar to most of us who expect certain things from Quik & Kurupt.
But to anybody thinkin Quik fell off his production game... Check this out and tell me this aint feel good music!
https://www.youtube.com/v/RT0yJ_sB-BM&NR=1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RT0yJ_sB-BM&NR=1)
8) 8) 8)
Also this is video proof that they are shooting more street videos.. To everybody jumping the gun saying that they picked the wrong song to make a video of.. Like its the main single or something! Jus chill out.. We got a month til the album comes out.. And word of a dvd also.. these guys are vets.. they don't need us internet bloggers to tell them how to promote their own album!
-
GREAT INTRO
this is a FUCKIN FIRE beat not that bullshit of " 9 TIMES OUTTA 10 "
this is the real DJ QUIK , remind me Rhytmalism
-
the intro will be the best song on the whole album ;D
-
I don't think its that bad, the beat got stuck in my head all day! I know its mainly just a drum pattern.. but so was "Dopeman" by NWA, basically. Give it a chance y'know, "Oh this beat is FIRE! but i can make it in FL Studio/Cubase very easily so naaaaah" or "this is a loop with some different elements, production sucks", nuthin but a thang was pretty much a loop too. I'm still going to cop Blaqkout, it's not common anymore that you see a fully produced DJ Quik album nowadays, especially with Kurupt.
-
PFFFFFFFFFFFFTTT didnt quik learn his lesson with that fixxers bullshit
-
I'll give it to Quik this shit is hot! It is the type of song I can see getting major airplay, just because it is different from anything out there. Kurupt is killing it. Nice to see him coming correct again.
-
nothin wrong with this song, shit kinda bangin Y'all be way too tough on niggas on here.
-
Gets better with EACH LISTEN.
Give it a few spins. Interesting choice for first Video. I thought it would be Hey Playa for sure!

Wow, amazing how much hate this is getting. Kurupt comes off good and the beat hits hard - although it is really minimalistic. Kinda leaves you wondering if they forgot to mix in the rest of the instruments.
Not their best stuff, but cool in my opinon. Hate provoking though? No way.
