Title: Slaughterhouse Finishing Debut LP; Due In Stores July 7
Post by: GATMAN on May 28, 2009, 03:27:26 PM
 By Tai Saint Louis

Less than a week after announcing their new joint venture with E1 Music, Hip-Hop super-group Slaughterhouse has a release date for their highly anticipated self-titled debut.

The Slaughterhouse album is set to hit stores July 7, the label announced Thursday (May 28).

Joell Ortiz, Royce Da 5’9”, Joe Budden and Crooked I are currently in the studio putting the finishing touches on the album, which is nearly complete.

“We did an entire album in 6 days,” Joell Ortiz told AllHipHop.com in a statement. “When you genuinely love what you’re doing, everything is effortless. It was like a long party. I can’t wait for the fans to experience this album.”

The project will feature production by The Alchemist, Streetrunner, DJ Khalil and Denaun Porter.

No word on whether the group will collaborate with other artists on the album.

Continuing the modus operandi that help build Slaughterhouse’s popularity, the four rappers appeared in a new video today to formally announce their new label home and the release of the album.

“We’re working really hard,” said Joe Budden. “The music is coming out amazing, and I think a lot of people are gonna be shocked.”

In the video clip, the group also announced that about a week and a half before the release of their album, Slaughterhouse will hit the road as part of this year’s Rock The Bells tour.

They will also be playing spot dates al summer in between tour dates.

“This group is really something special and this summer I'm excited to show the world what we have to offer,” stated Royce Da 5’9”. “If you thought that we were just gonna release a few tracks to the net and then disappear you are in for a very rude awakening."

Slaughterhouse made headlines last week when Joe Budden confirmed that the group had found a new home at E1, formerly Koch Records.

The group, which was only formed 10 months ago, started out when Budden recruited the other three members for a song of the same name on his Halfway House album.

The four rappers, each well respected for his lyrical ability, immediately knew that their collaboration had to extend beyond the one track.

“Slaughterhouse is the most exciting new group to hit the Hip-Hop scene in many years,” offers E1 EVP and GM Alan Grunblatt. “I’m thrilled to be working with old friends Royce, Joell, Crooked and new friend Joe Budden.”

The Rock The Bells Tour runs from June 27 in Chicago and end on August 9th in San Francisco.

This year’s tour will also feature performances by Nas & Damian Marley, Ice Cube, The Roots, Common, Busta Rhymes, Big Boi, House of Pain, Reflection Eternal, Raekwon, M.O.P. and many more.

they definatly have been working on it longer.

they prolly had already wrote some shit in the earlier this year for that "EP" & they just scratched it & made it an album.

it should be great. 8)

I'm excited that they have an actual release date and plan to execute it properly.  I doubt they'll have many guest features besides the chorus or hooks but I'd like to see a track with Technique, Nas, Em, Saigon, Bishop Lamont, and a couple of other cats from Detroit like Elzhi, Black Milk and Finale.

I'd prefer they keep the guest list to one or two people.

i know what you mean, but E1 like understands what they are trying to do.

Slaughterhouse knows that true fans of theirs are going to get this shit, they don't need promotion.

Crooked & Budden have basically strictly internet hype.

they are just straight up MC's. they put there minds together & just made music & didn't deal with the bullshit other artists deal with.

get amped! 8)

yeah in the future i would like to see some features from dudes them (here & there), but they don't need anything.

the 4 of them can hold a whole album with themselves without needing features, their just THAT dope. 8)

it should DEFINATLY drop when they plan because E1 isn't going to push it back for sales purposes or anything.

I'd prefer they keep the guest list to one or two people.

na, they don't need anybody; except on hook. ;) 8)

i dont really see how theyd need features i mean theyre pretty much each doing one long verse a song right? its not like the same voice/flow every verse every song

na, it should sound diverse & fresh on each track. 8)

basically just listen to everything they have dropped so far; they will basically be like that on the album but it should be better because it's not just a song they throw together for fans, it's for an album.

Don't get me wrong, I usually hate features on an album and this is already 4 excellent MC's that can spit like crazy.  And, for a first album I'd rather have no features.  I even think the hooks should be them and they should avoid getting R&B cats like they have in that video - kind of sounded lame.

But, since there's 4 artists I already respect I'd love to seem them go at it with other great MC's that can spit.  That's all.  I'm not saying they can't hold their own and need guest features.  Each of them have more or less already proved they can hold an album by themselves.

Basically, in the future I just want to hear these people working together.

yeah i mean im not the biggst fan of the whole super lyrical style and i never liked budden at all but if this comes out unrushed and shit with good beats ill have to buy it just to support people trying something other than the bullshit nowadays
