If you want to make more money, get off Sports Interaction and go to Matchbook.com, it's simply has better lines.  I have money on Pinnacle too but every time I'm ready for a bet I check and Matchbook has the best line.

I was gonna tail you today just for the hell it but those three first picks are all -160 or more.  I'm not big on betting heavy favourites in baseball.  I might give your last two picks a shot.

This is the first year I've taken sportsbetting somewhat seriously.  I'm 34-45 so far and up a whopping .92 units.  Obviously I bet mostly + money games.

I don't know what deposit options suit you but the lines are better on Matchbook almost every time.

Current Lines:
ARI @ LAD:

SI: LAD -175 ARI +155
MB: LAD -158 ARI +156
Pinny: LAD -161 ARI +153

NYY @ CLE

SI: NYY -190 CLE +170
MB: NYY -164 CLE +163

i use bodog. i didnt know bout matchbook. if its better like u say, ill switch over when i cash out. I just have alot of money in my acct to switch right now..SO FAR YANKS UP 5-1 and REDS UP 3-2!!! THe other games start later

i took Yanks, Phils, And Mariners all to win and Reds +1.5. I bet i bet 20 for a 216.00 payout. i take favorites and put 3 or 4 together i seem to have the best luck that way. rather then trying to get more money by taking underdogs. Pitching matchups are obviosuly a huge factor..We need to all put our heads together and win that DOE!!! Ask Spice, i own this betting shit  ;D

Good shit MoSav. I always though about betting on games because I'm so good at predicted winners in the NFL. I've never applied that to actual lines and spreads, though.

Looks like the M's screwed you, couldn't hit a thing, only 2 hits.  Dodgers ended up losing too.
I went 0 for 2 last night and am now slightly in the red for the year.

I'm looking into that MIN/CLE game.  MIN sure does look like the sure bet but I don't know if I like that -163 price.  Right now I'm leaning towards playing the MIN team total OVER 5 at -108.

take the Giants with Lincecum against a 13-36 Nats team, not to mention the Giants have beat the Nats 10 of the last 11. And Min is a great bet Slowey has 7 wins and Minn has won 8 0f 10 at home. That would be a nice dbl parlay 50 would payout over 120.00

when betting on baseball, you just pick who wins right?

no rules apply

The Nats actually have a decent offence and the Giants really don't so I'd probably throw the Mets in there instead. It's around the same price last time I looked it at.

I didn't put too much time into the research today so I have a small card on the day:

Team Total: Twins OVER 5 @ -108
Team Total: Phillies OVER 3 @ -115

1 unit each bet

Forgot to mention, if you are mostly betting parlays, Matchbook isn't the place for you.  It's a betting exchange so they don't do parlays.
I'd recommend 5Dimes or Pinnacle instead for better lines.

Good topic MoSav. I don't bet on sports too often, although I do bet pretty often for the big games, play-offs, and sporting events that were a long time in the making (such as MMA and boxing fights).

If your picks stay that accurate on a consistent basis though, then shit, maybe I should get on it lol. It's a dope thing what you doing for fellow dubcc members.

Too bad for SF costing the parlay, WASH pitching is awful but offense can put up numbers sometimes.

I went 1 for 2 on my card and lost the juice.  The PHI cover was a piece of cake, went over in the 1st inning.  I was counting on that shitty bullpen of CLE to let up 2 runs in the last 4 innings but they kept MIN stuck on 4.

Some far today, I'm taking:

TEX @ NYY: TEX @ +163
Big value play here

However...SPORTSINTERACTION IS TRASH! They didn't payout one of my buddies before.

I keep money on both books just so I can find the best possible line, I might even open an account on 5Dimes also to get even more freedom.
Another thing, for the Americans, I believe Pinnacle is closed to you.

3 more bets on tonight's card:

LAA @ TOR: 1st half UNDER 5
PHI @ SD: PHI OVER 3.5
CHC @ ATL: CHC +126

A good advice to a beginner. It's all about juice! JUICE JUICE JUICE! In the end, it makes or breaks you.

A good example for this from a poster on another site. I AM NOT IN ANY WAY TAKING CREDIT FOR ANYTHING WRITTEN BELOW.

Quote
Its all about maximizing your ability. If you are a 53% capper you might as well make as much money as you can out of it. Let me do my example again:

2% 10%
Starting Bankroll 100,000 100,000
Record (53%) 53-47 53-47
Win $ at 10K per 530,000 530,000
Loss $ at 10K per 479,400 517,000
Profit 50,600 23,000

THE DIFFERENCE FOR A 53% handicapper is 50% profit at 2% juice or a 23% profit at 10% juice. BIG DIFFERENCE!!

Yup, you have to take advantage of the lowest lines.  If there is one thing I learned about playing poker it's about making the EV+ move all the time.  Which is just taking every little opportunity to maximize your profits long term.  Sure the difference is in +104 and a + 106 price isn't that large, just $2 on a $100 bet but that will add up long term and you'll see the different over the course of a month, season and your betting career.

Yesterday was a great day.  Both my underdogs cashed and the Phils came through for the second night in a row.  Only lost was on that Jays game where I was looking good on a push but it went over right at the end.  I'm now 0-6 on the year betting Jays games.

First locked in play:

TEX @ NYY: TEX +153

+153 with Wang on the mound for New York?  Sure Wang has been much much better since he's been back coming out of the pen but I love this play at that price.  Plus McCarthy hasn't been bad lately either, he's 2-1 with a 1.64 ERA in his past 3 starts.

I just re-deposited into my Bodog account after a couple months off, I cashed out a little after football season with a few hundred off a 50 dollar buy-in that got down to 4 dollars. I could have cashed out better if it wasn't for poker, but I won a few off that. I started doing a pick-em for the baseball games, and I've done pretty well at picking them.  I picked the same as you for the favorites and they struggled (except I picked the Rays but they got rained out), but those underdogs did well. The Giants won me money a few weeks ago when I was in Vegas, I like betting on them when Cain takes the mound.

Parlays are a lot of fun, I usually try to add a heavy favorite or two in to add a few bucks to the payoff. During college football season, I did really well doing the Thursday night games with parlays or teasers using the over/under as well. My biggest hit came when I had Utah to beat Alabama straight up in the Sugar Bowl and the Over, that was the move that saved my Bodog account.
Title: Re: Jump on THE MOSAV Betting Train

Looking at the lines this morning this one jumped out on me:

Giants at Diamondbacks under 9

Cain is pitching for the Giants and he's been lights out this year and Buckner is pitching for the D-Backs who is sporting a 2.95 ERA in his past 3 starts and the Giants can't hit anyways (last in the NL in runs, OBA & SLG).
Just not sure whether to take the 9, get it at 8.5 for a better price or take the 1st half UNDER 5.

Cubs at Astros - HOU +128
Reds at Nationals - CIN -1.5 +145
Rockies at Brewers - OVER 9.5
Giants at Diamondbacks - UNDER 5 (1st Half)

I went with the under in the first half because Arizona has a shitty bullpen.  I'd be more confident in that under too if they weren't playing in such a hitter's park.

Well of course the Reds blew it in the bottom of the 8th and I go 0 for 4, not a good day.
This handicapping isn't easy, that under in the SF/ARI looked great other than being in a hitter's park but Cain let in 4 ER in the first few innings and the helpless SF bats exploded, who woulda thought?

I have 99 bets on the year so far and I'm now down just over 1 unit.  No research and only play on the card today.  I'm not putting any thought into bet #100, just gambling with this one:

Jays -1.5 @ +225

Everything tells me the Jays will lose tonight, going against my gut and taking it further by taking the alternate run line.  I'm 0 for 6 betting in Jays games too this year.

Alternative runlines are fun, but I only play them if it's a small amount to win big or if I'm confident in the team's defense and relief pitching. The starters who match up are very important, but after getting burned on Arizona when their bullpen has killed Dan Haren's starts, I have learned my lesson. For today, I really like the A's at -128, also like the Mariners at -105 and Mets at +143, because I think it will be decided by the bullpens.

Nice start to the season.  On pace to be up 40 or so units on the year, I'd take that.  Hell, this is my first season doing this seriously, I'll take breaking even.

Goddam game last night got rained out, I figured I have to make the same bet again today.  Would kicked myself if I didn't make the bet and it came through.  Too bad I got it at a worse price, +218 today.

Looks like I lost bet #100, Jays held the Rangers to 1 but couldn't hit a thing.

Record so far:

OVERALL: 42-58 -2.36 units

Moneyline: 20-28 (-0.82 units)
Over/Under: 14-14 (+1.01 units)
Team Totals: 4-6 (-2.24 units)
Parlays: 0-3 (-1.5 units)
Run Line: 0-3 (-3 units)
Alternate Run Line: 4-4 (+4.19 units)

So far today:

Twins at Cubs - UNDER 9
The weather isn't looking too great and there is a slight wind blowing in.  Harden on the hill for the Cubbies and if he's on his A game he's not letting up too many and on the other side, Chicago can't hit to save their lives.

Lending towards the Phillies RL, gotta look into it more.

Good call on the under in that Cubs game, their offense is pathetic right now, and Harden is limiting the damage. Not too much out there that has my attention today, I'm going to parlay the Braves and Rockies for a few bucks.

Tough break if you were on the Cubbies, Harden pitched pretty well overall.

Yup, that was pretty easy, didn't have to sweat that one out at all.  I'm going to seriously consider Cubs unders for the next while, they offense is really struggling.

I hit my first parlay of the year, I picked 3 OVERS on saturday, 0.5 unit bet netted me 2.5 units.
No bets since Saturday, was working Sunday and yesterday there were only two games.

Today's card so far:

A's at Dodgers - OVER 7
Astros at Rangers - UNDER 4 (HOU)
Mets at Orioles - NYM -1.5 +178
Mets at Orioles - OVER 9.5
Rays at Rockies - TB +118
Rays at Rockies - OVER 5 (TB)

I'm not doing well picking team totals so far but I like those two.  Millwood has been pitching well lately for the Rangers, they are at home and the wind is blowing in.  Tampa is in Coors Field with the wind blowing out and De La Rosa is nothing special, Tampa hits lefties pretty well too.

Looking at a few more games, hoping for some line movement and better prices.  Don't know what to do with the CHW/CHC game, Zambrano is pitching and the Cubs offense stinks but the wind is blowing out to left.  Calling for bad weather too.  It's either the UNDER or a no play.

When I went to sleep that OAK/LAD game looked horrible 0-0 in the 4th, thought I was done, nice surprise this morning.
Yeah, FANTASTIC day, don't think I'll have a day like that again. I did have one more bet after the six I posted, the first half UNDER in the DET/STL game for a half unit and Verlander got rocked.  But everything else went great.

No picks for me today, have to work and can't do any research while I'm there.  Tigers bet doesn't look bad, Wellemeyer hasn't exactly been Cy Young.  However, that bet might be a wash too, check out the weather: http://dailybaseballdata.com/cgi-bin/weather.pl

I'm on the Royals and Rockies tonight, and also on Washington who is currently up 3-0. The price was too good at +180, with the way Lannan has pitched for them against Wang for the Yankees. I'm still worried about the Nationals' bullpen, so I don't feel too safe yet.

Yea :S. Im watching the game as we speak. The Tigers just hit a homerun. 1-1. I wont be surprised if it ends 4-1 for the Cardinals and I lose both bets :D.

Btw, i suggest that no one follow my bets, because i bet a different amount of units on each game depending on how confident i am on it. I don't flat bet. Plus i've never had a record of above .500 because i bet a lot of underdogs, but i do well enough to keep betting ;)

Yesterday's card:

White Sox at Cubs - UNDER 8.5 (http://images.covers.com/covers/emoticons/an_burningbag.gif)
Pirates at Twins - PIT +150 (http://images.covers.com/covers/emoticons/an_burningbag.gif)
Marlins at Red Sox - OVER 9.5 (http://images.covers.com/covers/emoticons/an_lightening.gif)
Rays at Rockies - OVER 9 (http://images.covers.com/covers/emoticons/an_burningbag.gif)
Astros at Rangers - UNDER 10.5 (http://images.covers.com/covers/emoticons/moneybag.gif)
Mets at Orioles - NYM -1.5 +171 (http://images.covers.com/covers/emoticons/an_burningbag.gif)
Astros at Rangers - HOU +156 (http://images.covers.com/covers/emoticons/moneybag.gif)

Finished 2-4 for -1.26 Units.  I really should have picked the 1st half UNDER in that CHW/CHC game, messed that up.  It would have been nice if the Mets held on to that 2 run lead, would have been a much nicer day.

From a early look at the lines, I think there are quite a few dogs I like.  I'll post my plays for day when I figure them out.

The early game:

Indians at Cubs - CLE +101  (1st half)

I was looking at all the options for this one, the team totals, O/U and O/U 1st half, but I like that play the most.  Lee has been great as of late and is having a nice year, the Cubs shouldn't be a big challenge.  Decided against the O/U options because the Tribe can actually hit and rank number #1 in the major in runs and OPS on the road.  The wind is blowing out too.
I took the first 5 and not the game because the Indians bullpen is horrible and might blow it.

However...all this might be for nothing, the weather doesn't look good in Chicago.   >:(

Blue Jays at Nationals - TOR -1.5 +168
Astros at Twins - HOU +142
White Sox at Reds - OVER 4.5 (CHW)
Brewers at Tigers - OVER 10

I'm 0 for 7 betting on the Jays this year but I really like this game, even decided to get gamble and take the alternate run line.  Galarraga has been a gas can lately and Looper hasn't been much better, hoping for a lot of runs in that game.  I'll take Oswalt on the hill at +142 any day.  And I hate the White Sox but I like them in this game for some reason, thought about taking the game but decided to go with the team total, Arroyo is shit, I expect him to throw BP.

I went 0 for 3 on the nights games.  >:(  The Jays get 1 run in 11 innings against horrible Nationals piching.  So bad.  I'm 0 for 8 betting in Jays games now.  Doesn't matter if it's totals, ML, O/U, anything...can't hit it.

But I got royally fucked in the MIL/DET game.  It went over EASY, by the 4th, one in the win column, right?  Not so fast, here comes the rain and the game doesn't go 9 and the bet is a wash.  Soooo bullshit, it's not like the UNDER can come back, the goddam bet was decided.   :stupid:

I'd stick to the big books that are very reliable and reputable such as The Greek, Pinnacle, Betjamaica, 5Dimes or Matchbook.  Stick to sites like that and you'll be fine, I've had money in something like 60-70 online poker rooms, sportsbooks and casinos and 95% of the transactions have gone smoothly, the other 5% I got the money but it took a long time (all from lesser known online casinos.)

As the season goes on I always figure out teams that I won't bet on because they are too likely to screw things up. The Diamondbacks are on this list, especially when Dan Haren starts. This guy should be mentioned as the NL All-Star starter but his record is weak because his team has failed him so many times. Bad hitting, fielding and managerial moves with the bullpen have all robbed him of at least a win each. I might play the 1st 5 innings on the under, but I don't have any faith in Arizona to hold on for him. I hit with the White Sox and Red Sox today, but lost with the Braves.

Two early plays so far:

Royals at Astros - KC -105 (1st half)
Cubs at Tigers - CHC -0.5 +113 (1st half)

Spent only about 10 or so minutes looking into this, just wanted to get some action on the early games.
The Cubs game is strictly a Galarraga fade play, he's a gas can.  I don't like the totals because I can't trust the Cubs hittiing or Galarraga's pitching.  I think Lilly can hold him them for the first five and hopefully Galarraga gets lit up.
Bannister's last 3 games he has a 1.29 ERA and Moehler's is 6.60.  Stuck to 1st half because of KC's shitty bullpen.

Cubs at Tigers - CHC -0.5 +113 (1st half) (http://images.covers.com/covers/emoticons/thumbs_down.gif)

Lilly really fucked me in that Cubs game.  He had Mags 0-2 in the bottom of the 4th and threw a meatball right over the plate.  The Cubs got 4 runs and I thought that would be enough but Lilly really had problems not keeping the ball over the middle of the plate.  Time to look into the night games.

Been getting killed the past couple of days.
Now (slightly) back in the red on the year. >:(

Yesterday was horrible.  I went to the Jays game to watch them lose 10-0, and lost bet on the game too of course.  Then later I picked (or so I thought) the Padres to beat the Rangers, watched pretty much the whole game and they won.  Then I find out this morning the bet wasn't made, don't know how that happened.  Would have been my only win yesterday, 0-3 instead.

Not going to bother to look into any of the games today, too tired.  Just going to try the Jays team total (5) again.  Old man Moyer is on his way out of this league and the Jays hit him pretty well.  Don't really think they will have another performance like yesterday.  I think they'll be able to get 5 on Moyer by the 6th.

I'm 1 for my last 10  :o
You might wanna fade my picks.

Tonight:

Tigers at A's - OVER 9.5
Tigers at A's - OVER 4.5 (Tigers)

Galarraga and Gonzalez have both been DESTORYED by the other team in their career (but not much of a sample size) and both have ERAs over 8 in the past three starts.  The OVER is 4-1 in Galarragas last 5 starts overall.
The OVER is 9-6 with Lance Barksdale behind the plate too and 5 of his last 6.
I don't like that they are playing in a pitcher's park but the weather is good for the OVER, the wind is going out at 12mph and it's sunny with no precipitation.  Can't say I like that the A's can't hit either, but I think can tag Galarraga for 4 or so, he's trash.  I'm hoping for a 6-4 type game for the Tigers.

I don't know anything about the WNBA or the CFL.  If I start betting those two I'd really be gambling.   :D
