Title: Slaughterhouse discussion thread
Post by: herpes on August 11, 2009, 07:31:21 PM
37 threads on the budden an wu beef but no actual thread on the music lmfao.  So who copped this album today ?  I copped it on my lunch break and have listened to it a few times through..... my faith in hip hop has been restored.  Amazing album.... not one weak track.  It's a shame it will only sell 8000 copies.  First album I copped since the last Nas album.

Budden's Padded Room sold more than 8,000; i predict whatever Budden sold, times 4.

the skits could have gone & been switched with We Outta Here & Woodstock; but they didn't take away from the album, they just didn't add to it.

Rain Drops is the best song & Crooked I DESTROYS his verse & his verse on Killaz

Joell really impressed everybody, showing up; even though we all should have known he was the shit based on the internet leaks.

Royce was insane on the album too, i love his verse on OnSlaught 2.

Joey was solid, got outshined basically the whole album; but it doesn't mean his verses were weak, they just got outshined; but if you want to hear Joey spit that real shit i would HIGHLY recommend downloading or copping Escape Route. ;)

It's nice to Crooked I finally get an album credit to his name.  And he made the most of it.  BTW this thread has 20 views and 2 replies one of which is my own.  Yet all the beef threads that have nothing to do with music  have 30 some odd post a piece.  If you ask me, it speaks volumes about who the real hip hop heads are.

Great album, I hope this is a step in the right direction....

nope, maybe for some real cats who are underground.

but the majority of dudes are draining this bitch for the buck.

as long as being mainstream, using autotune & having a Drake/Wayne/Kanye feature will sell you records it will be done.

this album will do 250K at absolute best; anymore & i'd be shocked.

album of the year in my books, but it won't change the direction we're headed in. :-\

not until real music like this sells anyway; until then, just let it refresh the game & like Tommy said, let it restore your faith in hip hop. ;)

I went to Best  Buy and picked it up. I didnt listen to anything until today and I just finished listening to it. Its a good album but no song really stands out as breathtaking but overall its really solid. Crooked destroyed it along with Royce and Joell          Budden who I never really paid much attention too was great too

Great hip hop album
Go pick it up

There is a 8 or 9 page discussion thread about the album though so it's not like only the true fans are in this thread.

I was bummed i couldn't buy this though, nowhere in town had it. hmv had a copy that wasn't sold but the cashier couldn't find it.  Probably had it tucked in the back for himself, he looked shifty.  oh well i should've preordered it.

MCA Nashville Vet Unseats Michael, Cobra Starship Rises

August 12, 2009

Twang goes bang.

Yep, that’s the sound of honky-tonk veteran George Strait’s latest MCA Nashville hitting the #1 spot on next week’s HITS Album chart, the latest success in a long and still-potent career.

Based on one-day sales figure from all those music retailers who haven’t become medical marijuana dispensaries shows the country star will sell a total close to 150k.

That’ll be more than enough to topple the King of Pop’s reign at #1, though expect Michael releases to dominate the rest of our Top 5, if not, inexplicably, Soundscan's.

Red-Hot Cobra Starship, the latest Decaydance/Fueled by Ramen release (home of Panic at the Disco, among others), distributed by Atlantic, are the next heighest debut at 40-45k, fueled by the Top 5 single, “Good Girls Go Bad,” featuring Gossip Girls’ Leighton Meester. The band’s led by clever Gabe Saporta, who fronted the group Midtown on Columbia several years ago.

Valory country singer/songwriter Justin Moore’s self-titled album could do in the 34-37k range, thanks to a hit single on the format, “Small Town USA.”

E1 (formerly Koch) rap all-star group Slaughterhouse, consisting of Crooked I, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz and Royce Da 5’9”, should do between 23-25k.

Mercury/IDJ country pop pin-up Jessie James debuts with between 18-20k, while Vagrant thrash-rock perennials Thrice’s iTunes exclusive will net them 12-14k.

The market was up 1% vs. last week, down 16% vs. same week last year and still down 14% year to date.

Hey, what are you doing just sitting there? Go disrupt a town hall meeting or something.

Koch (E1) undershipped them, they only shipped that many copies so they sold out already and I've been getting plenty of Emails from people who havent been able to find it in stores, Amazon is out of stock, same with CDUniverse... Koch (E1) fucked up and underestimated the demand for this record.. I knew this was gonna happen.

In your opinion, how much more do you think it could've sold had it not been undershipped?

They best ship another 15-20K 2nd week. If they can move another 20K plus next week, that would seriously be huge. 2nd week record sales tend to fall off BAD nowadays. If your selling 25K first week, chances are your at 10K or less 2nd week. Let's see how E1 handles this.

This is regardless definitely landing at #1 independent charts. Dorrough from E1 topped the indie charts this week with 12K :-\

Merged 5 threads about SH, future SH-threads might be merged into this one, unless it brings something really new to the table, like e.g. info on the 2nd SH album.

Complaints about the merging can be PM'd to this user (http://www.dubcnn.com/connect/index.php?action=profile).

Album is too sick, i like the way they were able to switch up their flows on certain songs. Joel absolutley went bannanas on the whole album, dude came aggressive. I thought crooked was actually average, which makes me sad since hes my favorite outtta the four, in my top 3 of all time too. Buh best verse has to go to royce on raindrops, for me at least. There isnt a single weak cut, solid 4.75 album id say, coulda been a classic if they were able to put in certain songs, like move on, and take out the skits. We outta here should of been a second single or somethign too i think. Copped 3 for hip hop, go support the movement

Joe Budden said he thinks e1 purposely only shipped that much because they only signed a one album deal and dont want them to do big numbers and sign to a major. They want them to do low numbers so their forced to sign with them again.Makes sense in a fucked up sort of way.I mean how do you only ship less then 30k when slaughterhouse has such a huge fucking buzz.Seems like sabotage to me as well.

Merged 5 threads about SH, future SH-threads might be merged into this one, unless it brings something really new to the table, like e.g. info on the 2nd SH album.

Complaints about the merging can be PM'd to this user (http://www.dubcnn.com/connect/index.php?action=profile).

I respectfully disagree.   I think this is actually pretty typical of how E1 operates. What you have to understand is that after E1 pays to have all these cd's pressed up, they're stuck with any extra cd's that don't sell (in the event that the album isn't a strong seller).  I think they did underestimate how well this album would be received, but I don't think they tried to intentionally sabotage it.  I can sort of see Joe's logic in thinking that.  But I think if E1 were to actually employ any tactic to try to sway Slaughterhouse to
re-sign with them, they would do everything in their power to actually insure that the first album sells well.

+1, I haven't been dissapointed by Royce in a long ass time! Only thing I can imagine making the album any better is a Bad Meets Evil reunion

I just received the Slaughterhouse cd from Amazon.com  I noticed, however, that in the booklet there are no pics from that big photo shoot they did for the album.  I remember there was a number of pics with them wearing bloody aprons and there was a pig's head on the table.  Does anyone know what happened to these?  You couldn't really see a lot of them clearly when they posted the behind-the-scenes pics from the photo shoot, so I was hoping we'd get to see them in the album booklet.  Hopefully they'll use them for something.
