Yes i can (and i say that honestly). its not hard to rap BETTER than Jay Rock. He doesn't have much content or substance in his music. Pass me a whiskey and coke or a blunt or both and im shittin' on Jay Rock. I was all for Jay Rock and I was boosted when I first saw that video with Lil' Wayne but now its just more like "next". I'm not a fan of much of the new west. Jay Rock feels like poor man's version of Tupac. Many feel like watered down versions of popular 90's artists. Most lack creativity and a genuine feeling.

i have, and i've also given the other tracks he put out in tha last 8 months (and before) burn too and that's why i ended up making this topic. this isn't a random rant, it's an evaluation (seein' as how he just finished up his month long song drop not too long ago).

Well Biggie's one of Jay's biggest influences (says so on his bio on Top Dawg Ent's site), plus Jay's addressed him sounding like Game on his songs. But he does have a lot of dope songs.

I can respect ur opinion on not caring for the dude's music or style but IMO the guy is definitely tight as fuck. He is what the west needs except for him doing songs with gay ass lil wayne who needs to shoot himself. But to call him a poor man's tupac is the stupidest thing I've heard anyone say about him. How does he sound anything like Tupac. He never claims to be like Pac or act like Pac in any of his songs. My favorite rapper right now has got to be Nipsey though because the boy has flow and keeps making bangin ass tracks.

J-r is just another "thug" rapper so to say, he doesn't bring anything to the table of hip hop. he's a cliche' and raps about cliche' shit, that's not his game. he needs to just make music (however it comes out). i like the "how to rob" track, 1 of the few who can compliment a classic record (snoop did with lodi dodi). he's just another rapper for poor kids from Watts to be "inspired" by. he's no Nipsey or XZibit (before we all seen him on PMR, that show did damage to his PR lol).

tbh i like jay rock a lot. how to rob, as has already been mentioned, was shit hot, and 112 bars is one of the greatest things i have ever heard. all his songs on the TDE & September 7th mixtape were quality, and they covered more topics than just 'watts, bloods etc'. so to say he's cliched is just wrong, imo.

i really tried to like jay rock but the truth of the matter is hes boring...quite repetitive and sounds like game on alot of tracks.
i think most people feel the same way. dubcc just makes it seem like more people fuck with this nigga than they actually do
