Yeah i know, i feel tha same way but I actually give an artist a chance before i get 2 judgin' them bcuz they wanna build a lil' buzz or MAKE SOME FUCKIN MONEY.  i dont listen to everything and i cant/wont co-sign any1 but i do give niggaz a chance b4 i just go all out like fuckem.  i get it, im still bumpin "moms are cryin" by rbx but im hip enuff to give that new Snoop record "i wanna rock" or some new nigga that dance a chance (dancing has ALWAYS been core to hip hop 4 ppl always hatin' on the new shake).  i can't live in tha 90's forever, that generation had it's own vibe (true that i relate to it more) but i dont discriminate/hate on somebody new tryna make a name too (gucci, webbie, etc).  if i dont atleast give them that then i KNOW im a hater, especially if they've made it to where i havent even reached yet.  lets b real if ODB didn't have the WuTang/RZA backin him then EVERYBODY woulda shitted on Dirty and he woulda faded out with NO hits (shimmy shimmy ya is a classic bcuz of the Hook #1, and #2 the beat.  "baby i gotcha money" wouldn't even has been made if it wasn't for prior success, people forget that the Hip Hop marketing plan has always been the same- just with different artist and beats)

to some extent, this retard is right.

Like yes i was excited about the rakim album like 2 years ago, but now that it came out, it really wasnt as good as i thought.

Snoop's coming out with a new album, he's prolly one of my favourite rappers, but again who cares? not excited for it.

Ice cube prolly has a new album coming out soon or someshit, but who cares?

Its time for these guys to fall back and chill. Maybe tour once a year for the Rock The Bells tour or someshit.

Although a gangstarr reuinion album or a tribe reunion album would be much appreciated  8)

100% truth. I'm tired of all these old ass rappers on the West Coast who still think they can drop heat like it's 1995. The classic albums will always be apprenticed, but Mutha fuckers need to retire and let the new generation get some shine.

not just fall back but give niggaz that push and that limelight.  the game is obviously fucked up on the West and has been since 96 but that's bcuz niggaz act like they couldn't find another/better way to rap.  it was just like how y'all say the South is now, to a 'T'.  It's the same for the East, but only so many people can actually make the music for the world to rock too, no matter how good u or i think they are.  if u ask me "They Roll" by Nipsey should've been hailed as a certified classic bcz i can picture muthafuckaz bumpin that shit 10 years from now but will the world agree (i'd like to believe that but there's no proof that it would), i thought "high powered" by Face would've been hugeR but it wasn't, still dont c y not tho lol... maybe it iz tha execs?

The new generation, especially from the west,  hasn't shown they can shine. A lot of them are copying the style of the old ass rappers, just not doing it as well.

^they aren't given a chance because the second somebody drops something, everyone automatically compares it to one of the guys you mentioned lol.

no one is going to let go of old music, so when you hear something new, you refuse to believe it's as good as back in the day.

like Slaughterhouse would get straight praise back in 1995; but since they are automatically compared to Wu-Tang, NWA & older rap groups, they are immediatly turned down.

Then go to a fucking south forum where nobody has heard about these rappers.

It's a westcoast forum, where the popularity peaked in 1996, ofcourse you're going to hear about mostly old rappers.
And What new rappers are on the west? Bishop, Nipsey And Game and that's about it.

:yikes: at us being on the same page.  i'll say it again like i've always said it, the problem with the West (aka California) is that there's no growth in new MC's, it's the same thing all over again.  the difference between back then and now is back then it was new to talk about bitchez under palm trees and switchez and crippin and shoutin' out Westside on all of the commercial singles but now it's just the same thing just with new rappers and beats.  atleast back then the song had substance/content/focus/subject matter/depth, now it's just "We west coast, we ridin', California blunt smokin'/who ridin" like it's the same hook on every song and that blows bcuz alotta good beats and songs were destroyed bcuz they feel the need to shout out something about California every other second.  u dont hear NY or ATL or ChiTown or The D' being shouted out in every song by every rapper.  Look at that new DoggPound song "deepeegee", now if that's not tha same record we've been hearing from the pound since 92' then them niggaz got altimerz (the song would've been golden without tha DoggPound references).  u guys got tha beats (even tho it's about time to step away from the Dr. Dre inspired beats) and u guys got tha best State to rap about next to NY, GA, and TX, and of course DC  ;D.

if y'all can't stay away from that of course the FIRST thing ppl will do is compare the new niggaz to the old is bcuz y'all ain't makin' nothin different.  "On Me" by Glasses is the perfect example of a hook gon' wrong.  u cant get mad at ppl bcuz NY and everywhere else realized that EVERYBODY is listening besides just their State and tries to make universal music, Cali doesn't do that.  there's too many Big Ego's and Pawns and scary ass wack niggaz who can't come up with anything different.  Once everybody else stops tryna make their own "The Chronic" and their own version of "California Love" all of the time on every album then the game will get a lil' more easier for y'all.  Look at how Game handled his singles and the way he reps himself, yeah we all know he's a Blood and he's from Compton and knows Dr. Dre and Snoop and loves Pac but when u listen to Game you're listening to Game you're hearing about his life and not just the life of a movie-actor Gangster who hasn't decided to switch roles yet (Wood Harris lol!).  It's not that hard to rap about the same shit as every other rapper and be unique or bring something different to tha table, all u gotta do is write it ain't like nobody ain't waitin.  SOMETIMES it's okay but not on every song, feature, and album, nobody does that but y'all.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8chulSXHvs

And Slaughterhouse is from that Generation and can't help but to talk about it so they set their own selves up for that.  Once they stop talking about paying homage to old rappers and how the game is so fucked up and just make the music that they supposidly make that's so hip hop and different besides one or two songs then they'll start to make a "name" of their own and won't be compared to them, they'll be up there with em and on tha same page.

how on earth, can you say that West Coast rappers have no substance anymore & then tell me Gucci is "that nigga"?

if you could show me any Gucci song that sounds like the old South, i would be amazingly impressed.

show me a Gucci or Jeezy song i could put on the same level as Scarface or Outkast...

^lol relax, Mr. Feelings.

Jeezy, Soulja Boy, Shorty Lo, OJ Da Juiceman, D4L, Dem Franchize Boys, the Stanky Legg people & i'm sure i could name more.

i'll admit Jeezy is head and shoulders better than the rest of the list but the way you say he puts out such "classic" shit that could be comparable to some of the greatest music of all time, i feel obligated to put him on the list.

& if you didn't bring Gucci up all the time & say how great his shit is i wouldn't comment on Gucci Mane lol.

if you said how great Shorty Lo was or somebody else from my list, i would talk about them lol.

more like get over it.  there's always this discussion about how hip hop today is so different from back then when really it's not.  it's just new styles and faces over new beats (progress is what we wanted right).  yeah it took a wrong turn when it came to promoting artist but at the same time it didn't, it's actually better bcuz now u can have a sure fire way of getting on if u make the right PARTY record (u want ppl to dance to ur shit right) and have an album or mixtape showcasing your skill.

people like chamsbitch just use mainstream rappers for barsetting bcuz they're eazy targets to attack but when u dig deeper and get tha fuck outta tha house and go somewhere u would come across hot shit all of the time.  all i know is that there's a few of the older rappers that should've been kept in the limelight after their golden years (like Snoop & KRS i have to admit) bcuz of their relevancy to the culture of Hip Hop but that doesn't mean everybody (like Big Daddy Kane and Guru or MC Eiht) should've been held up to the meter bar bcuz if somebody new comes in and does it bigger and better it doesn't get looked at that way until they're dead or on their 12th album.

i believe in paying dues but everybody loved Pete Rock and he ain't pay no dues (music wise), he just dropped a hot record and it was on from there.  Today you don't get that, u get endless rants by foreign white kids in suburbia that feel like they know better.  i have to use race bcuz it's true, u dont hear the niggaz bitch at hip hop like some of the older white kids do (teenagers, early 20's), the only time u hear niggaz bitchin is if they're already established artist trying to stay relevant in their own circle or new niggaz comin in with tha same tired ass line "im bringin hip hop back".

Jeezy, Soulja Boy, Shorty Lo, OJ Da Juiceman, D4L, Dem Franchize Boys, the Stanky Legg people

i don't like how they pass it off as rap.

if they called it "funk-didle-jam" or anything else beside "rap" i wouldn't have a problem, but when guys like that think they are on some next level shit because they use silly metaphors to carry a whole song & crowd followers like you call it "classic"/"amazing", it's like, get the fuck outta here lol.

face it, you're a butt-hurt, feeling caught, follower who co-signs shit so he fits in with the crowd, AKA - "a fake".

Howcome when muthafuckas bring up, up and coming dope artists from the west everyone talks about nipsey hustle or any other of those queer bags. No one cares about that gangster shit anymore, its played out.

What about airplay for artists like Blu, Fashawn, Murs? These artists make REAL music, that should get played before any other of that garbage.
