hold on, where is the 2nd disc?

While it was continually hyped and marketed as a 2 disc release, there was no second disc.

how dope is it?

I listened to an interview where Banks said the Top 5 or Better Series was him practicing for his new album.  If you've listened to the first 4 volumes you can hear that evolution.  He goes from straight spitting to song structures.   V5 is basically an album; more songs and less of him spitting.   It's dope but it's still flawed and plagued by his bad habits.    It starts strong, then has several okay tracks,  and then picks up at track 8 for a long stretch of 7 dope tracks.   The final 3 tracks are dope and he ends it with his traditional attack a track freestyle (Big Bully).

Album worthy tracks:

Bad Habits:
His inconsistency of staying on topic.  For example,  We Remain first 30 seconds are incredibly dope.  He paints a dirty picture of Southside but then he transitions into boasting.  It ruins the song; it's still enjoyable as a freestyle but it's not as effective for a song.

I'm looking forward to his new album this coming 2nd quarter.  I hope we see an album of dope songs with a couple of dope freestyles; kind of like how Budden set up Escape Route.   He's got the talent to release an incredibly dope album, even a classic.  His flow is on point, he can switch up his vocals, he can clearly spit.  It's just channeling that into song format seems to be a problem for Banks.  Another example of a wasted freestyle that should've been switched into a song is Shine Thru off Halloween Havoc.  Great personal topic wasted on a freestyle.

the tape is pretty dope, Banks definitely is back with the flow, but my only thing is that his punchlines still are nowhere near that they used to be... on pretty much all of his mixtape material before Beg For Mercy and on that album you could always hear a one-liner or two from Banks that could be quoted and repeated later, but with his newer tapes it's not so much the case... but I liked the mixtape either way, the track with Havoc and Cormega is ill

so far out of all the new tapes I liked Pt. 4 the best, but why was "Officer Down" censored on that? lol
