Yeah. I'd say worldwide that probably is right. His first three albums came out back when cds were still selling really well. If memory serves me, "Marshall Mathers LP" sold exceptionally well. I think Em was riding a wave of popularity at that time, both from his "Slim Shady LP" and from his appearances on Dre's "2001" album. Those were different times, man. Now if someone sells a few hundred thousand copies, it seems they're doing very well. But back then when mp3s were really just starting to catch on, people were buying a lot more music than they are now. Plus the economy was still pretty good.

aite i dont count other rappers albums as his own sales
but his own albums how many has he sold?

Figure-wise, this was the best I could do. I can't guarantee these figures are perfect, but it's all I could find. Some have worldwide figures too, and some I couldn't find.
"Slim Shady LP" Certified 4X Platinum, and has sold 9 million worldwide.
"Marshal Mathers LP" Certified 10X Platinum and 20 million worldwide
"Devii's Night" (w/D12) Certified 2X Platinum
"The Eminem Show" Certified 10X Platinum and 20 million worldwide.
"8 Mile Soundtrack" Certified 3X Platinum
"D12 World" (w/D12) (Couldn't find a figure for this one, other than it was noted that it sold over 500,000 copies in the U.S. within it's first week of release-so it's at least gone "Gold."
"Encore" Certified 7X Platinum and 15 million worldwide.
"Curtain Call" Certified 2X Platinum
"Eminem Presents: The Re-Up" Certified 1X Platinum
"Relapse" Certified 2X Platinum and 5 million worldwide.

maybe every mainstream rapper is to him lol but I've seen him give plenty of other rappers their props
as far as Eminem, number probablly is right, in every country I've been to outside of the US, people knew Eminem as if they were from here... real talk
Eminem and 2Pac are the most well known hip-hop artists in the world, fact

i would say eminem is more known i denmark then tupac.. always remember eminem is white, the sad things is, for some people that mean alot!!
-
yeah good lookin blood money...i give props where its due and thats where it stops
eminem, jay-z, biggie, and others cant be in my top 10 cuz there are so many rappers better than them
people be throwin around classic and the best like its a free give away
the best means exactly that and eminem isnt the best
the fact that eminem and others have sold millions and these big amounts but scarface hasnt come close is sad but then again you have to sell out
so eminem sold 80 million records but look at muzik he made vs the CLASSIC muzik scarface made and still makes and doesnt sell out but sells a few copies here n there
yeah i guess includin everythin 80 million is what it is

Whether they like Eminem or dislike him, people shouldn't get too bent out of shape about this either way. I think an album's sales are more indicative of the album's success rather than it's quality. Sometimes those two things cross over, but not necessarily all of the time. I think Eminem deserves a certain amount of the success he's achieved, but that doesn't mean that I like everything he's done as an artist.
Take "Encore" for instance. Most would say that it's one of Eminem's weaker albums, but it's still multi-platinum. But I would say it owes a great deal of it's success to the quality of Em's previous albums rather than how good "Encore" was, itself. Granted, this is all subjective, and some people who bought "Encore" probably did buy it because they liked it. But I would guess that it owes much of its sales to people who purchased it based on the strength of the first three albums.
You could probably say the same for albums like "The Re-Up" and "8 Mile Soundtrack." Both achieved a certain level of success. But I would guess it wasn't all due to the quality of the albums. Some of it was probably due to the strength of Eminem's name and his earlier work.
-
I actually just got back from the mall and read an article in Hip Hop Weekly on Eminem and it said he sold 32.5 million, but then again Benzino is affiliated with that magazine so I'm not sure if that's accurate lol

Who deserves to be on that list is a another topic,that you can discuss here;
What albums is missing from The Source magazine classic list (http://www.dubcnn.com/connect/index.php?topic=189052.msg1931298#msg1931298)
So don't pay so much attention to that list,I used it purely for objective reasons.

real talk
but yeah id take sticky's albums over em's albums for lyric content
but beat wise....em got some bangers but damn hes borin as a rapper

i was jus at the record store talkin to a employee who was black
he sayin some real shit...that everyone knows
only reason em sold the way he did and got support from mtv is cuz hes white
imagine if was black....would they play kill you on mtv? nah
-
That's negro talk. Eminem got more heat for dissing faggots than all black rappers combined. 50's major debut LP sold just as well as any of Em's CDs.
2Pac also got some mad love from the media while being a complete asshole and black.
-
you mean black people defendin their own? lol
